Abstract

This article revolves around the issues of feminism in a novel. Issues of feminism are interesting to analyze because they have been leading issues in many societies. There are two problems addressed, namely what issues of feminism are and how the main character reacts to her condition in the novel. Marxist and feminism theories are used to analyze the position of the main character. Results indicate the girl’s tiresome yet fruitless struggle against the patriarchal oppressions in her unequal marriage and there is no victory for a woman except she is willing to leave her life behind. The novel is suitable for use in literature and also good for reading activities in an intermediate to advanced English class

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan wawasan kepada mahasiswa mengenai strategi menghadapi soal-soal dalam TOEFL sehingga dapat mempersiapkan diri dalam menghadapi tes TOEFL yang sesungguhnya. Penguasaan kemampuan bahasa Inggris khususnya TOEFL harus dilakukan sebagai salah satu alternatif solusi bagi mahasiswa dalam mempersiapkan kelulusan dan pekerjaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan, pembinaan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Kegiatan ini telah mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan yaitu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan mahasiswa mengenai cara cepat dan tepat yang dapat diterapkan dalam menjawab soal-soal TOEFL. Berdasarkan pengamatan tutorial selama kurang lebih 3 bulan mengikuti pelatihan TOEFL, menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman mahasiswa dalam menguasai materi TOEFL mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan

Abstract

Sebagai instansi sekolah yang berbeda dilingkungan pondok pesantren Annuqayah, MA Tahfidh Annuqayah mengedepankan Pendidikan Kitab dan Hafalan Al-qur’annya. MA Tahfidh Annuqayah ikut andil sebagai instansi sekolah yang merekomendasikan berbagai model beasiswa berupa bantuan biaya pendidikan maupun siswa yang berprestasi. Beasiswa yang di rekomendasikan ada dibawah naungan Kementrian Agama Republik Indonesia. Salah satunya adalah beasiswa full di Al-Azar Kairo Mesir. Banyaknya calon siswa yang akan diklasifikasi sebagai calon penerima rekomendasi beasiswa menjadikan proses seleksi memakan waktu yang lama, sehigga diperlukan system dalam rekomendasinya.Sistem yang dirancang ini akan menerapkan algoritma klasifikasi data mining C4.5 terhadap data yang telah ada pada proses seleksi dan rekomendasi penerima beasiswa. Algoritma C4.5 ini dipilih karena menghasilkan pohon keputusan berdasarkan nilai dari tiap-tiap atribut yang telah ditentukan berdasarkan persyaratan beasiswa. Sistem yang dirancang menggunakan 6 atribut yaitu nilai raport, prestasi, nilai ujian test, baca kitab, hafalan Al-Qur’an dan bahasa arab. Pemrosesan data training menghasilkan pohon keputusan klasifikasi yang bisa dipakai sebagai bahan rekomendasi .Evaluasi yang dilakukan dalam pengujian ini didapatkan nilai akurasi sebesar 97,5 %.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is the ability to improve thinking and understanding of interpersonal dynamics through incorporating intelligence, empathy, and emotion in everyday life. emotions will give adverse effects on an individual if the emotions are not being controlled properly. Therefore, this study aims to describe the emotions that arise when students speak English and how students can control their emotions when speaking. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with field notes observation and questionnaires to obtain data. The informants used purposive sampling with the category of students being the most able to speak in class, resulting six English students at the Madura University as the sample. The results of this study are the characteristics of the emotions that exist in students in the form of positive emotions and negative emotions. Negative emotions in students are fear, lack of confidence, anxiety, and shyness when speaking English. while the positive emotion of students are smile and enjoy. they regulate their emotions with the five aspects of emotional intelligence. self-awareness, self-regulations, motivation, empathy, and social skills.

Abstract

Abstract: Speaking is complex skill that express the ideas, opinions, desires, our feelings freely, structured and spontaneously that aim give or get information and knowledge from other people. The speaking process base on experiences that can be obtained through discussion, reading, observation, and listening. All the students want to speak English fluently; therefore students must learn to boost their speaking skills. Talking about speaking boosting, the boosting is divided into several aspects ranging from boosting pronunciation, comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary. It can be used as a measurement our speaking is good or not. Almost all students have method to boosting English speaking skill namely online game. The students was familiar with gadgets rarely have online games, not only one but more online games on one gadget. This researcher have research the student of English department in academic year 2017-2020 with using interview method. The result of the study is can boost speaking skill but not effective to be Media learning in English program students Madura University. Abstrak: Berbicara adalah keterampilan kompleks yang mengungkapkan gagasan, pendapat, keinginan, perasaan kita secara bebas, terstruktur dan spontan yang bertujuan memberi atau mendapatkan informasi dan pengetahuan dari orang lain. Proses berbicara didasarkan pada pengalaman yang dapat diperoleh melalui diskusi, membaca, observasi, dan mendengarkan. Semua siswa ingin berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan lancar; oleh karena itu siswa harus belajar untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara mereka. Berbicara tentang peningkatan berbicara, peningkatan dibagi menjadi beberapa aspek mulai dari peningkatan pengucapan, pemahaman, tata bahasa, dan kosa kata. Hal ini dapat digunakan sebagai ukuran baik atau tidaknya berbicara kita. Hampir semua siswa memiliki metode untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris yaitu game online. Siswa yang akrab dengan gadget jarang memiliki game online, tidak hanya satu game online tetapi lebih pada satu gadget. Peneliti ini melakukan penelitian terhadap mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris tahun ajaran 2017-2020 dengan menggunakan metode wawancara. Hasil penelitian dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara tetapi tidak efektif menjadi media pembelajaran pada mahasiswa program studi Bahasa Inggris Universitas Madura.

Abstract

This study is to finding out the significances of recursion in early language learning. This study is a qualitative research by using descriptive case study approach. This study describes in details the significances of recursion in early on language acquisition. The participants of this study are 44 participants. Observation and interview are conducted to get the data of the significance of recursion in early language development. Furthermore, the elements of the inquiry examine how recursion affects their capacity to offer feedback. The results show that recursion is important for overcoming stimulus poverty in a second language and producing sentences. According to 16 (36%) of the participants, the recursion notion can address the lack of stimuli in language acquisition. Whereas 28 (64%) of participants claim they can produce sentences because their lecturers apply recursion ideas. It is used to drill and reinforce the supplied input. Students can use their existing knowledge to address language learning challenges since teachers have repeatedly offered a procedure.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to develop a web-based village information system for Pulau Mandangin to improve the dissemination of information and facilitate residents in submitting complaints online, addressing the long-standing challenge of ineffective communication between villagers and local authorities. Method: The system was designed using the CodeIgniter 4 framework due to its lightweight structure and efficiency in web application development. Key features include village profile information, historical background, vision and mission, news updates, official announcements, organizational structure, and an integrated online complaints submission module. System performance was evaluated using black box testing, and user satisfaction was assessed through a Likert-scale survey. Results: Black box testing confirmed that all system functionalities operated correctly and as intended. The user satisfaction survey produced a score of 77.5%, categorized as “agree,” indicating a high level of acceptance and perceived usefulness among residents. Novelty: This research provides a practical digital solution for remote island communities with limited IT adoption, presenting an accessible and community-oriented platform that enhances transparency, communication efficiency, and public service delivery at the village level.
