Abstract

Purpose: to identify and analyze the ability of Pseudomonas sp for plastic waste degradation. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental design with post-test only with control design, using local Pseudomonas sp insulated of Piyungan landfill. Fertilizer media used BHI and selective medium for Pseudomonas Sp namely Cetrimide agar, and characterized by a series of microbact 24E kitt. Isolate elected was suspended with concentration 106CFU/ml, 107CFU/ml, and 108CFU /ml. Furthermore, distributed with volume of 10 ml suspension into each container that containing liquid of standard medium of Basal Salt and plastic (plastic black and white), with control negative (without the addition of bacteria). The incubation time for the plastic to degrade was 49 days at a temperature of 37°C, with periodic harvesting plastic every 7 days. Determination of degradation products was based on the percentage of weight loss plastic after treatment. The data analysis used anova and paired t-test to determine differences in treatment and control. Results: Results of this research showed that there were significant differences between the addition of Pseudomonas putida into media containing plastic compared to control, according to percentage of degradation.The percentage of degradation of the white plastic in the 49 days reached 3.29%, with a dose response of 108 CFU /100mg plastic while the black plastic was degraded with the percentage of degradation reached 4.7%, with a dose response of 107 CFU /100mg black plastic. Conclusion: Pseudomonas putida can degrade the plastic black or white. Percentage degradation of black plastic is greater, faster, and lower Dose response Pseudomonas putida than white plastic.

Abstract

Indonesia's health development is in the phase of re-emerging diseases. One such case is Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD), a disease transmitted by the Aedes sp. infected with the dengue virus. Based on data from the Health Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, the most cases of dengue fever were in Gunungkidul Regency, namely 333 patients and 2 people died. Singkil located in Giring Village, Paliyan District, is one of the hamlets in Gunungkidul that has dengue cases. Students of the D3 Sanitation study program at the Environmental Health Department of the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Yogyakarta conducted a Community Field Work Practice with several activities related to surveys, analysis, problem solving planning, socialization, and implementation of interventions regarding DHF, which aimed to reduce the transmission of DHF in the village. This activity will be held on January 3-29, 2022. The method of implementation is in the form of hands-on practice, and interviews. The data that has been obtained is processed and analyzed descriptively to describe the case. PSN activities are carried out at residents' homes. Based on the fieldwork practice, it was concluded that from making a problem map, there were 4 cases of dengue fever in 2021 and 1 case of dengue fever in 2022. The results obtained were 11 residents' houses that were positive for mosquito larvae. The provision of abate and medicinal plants was also carried out to prevent the occurrence of dengue fever.

Abstract

Kadar nitrat dan Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) pada air sumur di Dusun Nologaten, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman masing-masing mencapai 36,6 mg/L dan 305,1 mg/L, melebihi baku mutu Permenkes Nomor 2 Tahun 2023 sehingga berpotensi menimbulkan risiko kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh media filter ijuk, zeolit, dan arang aktif dalam menurunkan kadar nitrat dan TDS. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi experiment dengan pre-test–post-test group design. Tiga model filter tunggal setinggi 35 cm diuji, yaitu filter A (ijuk), filter B (zeolit), dan filter C (arang aktif). Sampel dipilih secara purposive sampling dari satu sumur dengan kadar nitrat dan TDS tertinggi, kemudian setiap perlakuan diulang enam kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan seluruh media filter mampu menurunkan kadar nitrat dan TDS secara signifikan (p<0,05). Penurunan rata-rata nitrat pada filter A, B, dan C berturut-turut sebesar 1,83 mg/L, 3,69 mg/L, dan 5,80 mg/L, sedangkan penurunan rata-rata TDS sebesar 5,00 mg/L, 9,24 mg/L, dan 14,40 mg/L. Arang aktif memberikan efektivitas penurunan tertinggi, namun kadar akhir nitrat 21,05 mg/L dan TDS 235 mg/L masih belum memenuhi baku mutu nitrat.

Abstract

Akibat peningkatan konsentrasi bakteri Coliform dan kekeruhan air, kualitas air sumur gali menurun akibat banjir yang terjadi di Tanggirejo, Kabupaten Grobogan. Sayangnya, banyak masyarakat masih mengonsumsi air sumur yang tidak diolah, sehingga membahayakan kesehatan mereka. Dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas air sumur pascabanjir, proyek pengabdian masyarakat ini akan mengedukasi masyarakat dan menerapkan teknologi diffuser klorin. Metode kegiatannya meliputi edukasi tentang risiko mengonsumsi air tercemar, pembuatan dan penggunaan alat diffuser klorin dasar dari PVC dan kalsium hipoklorit (Ca(ClO)₂), serta pengujian kualitas air sebelum dan sesudah penerapan teknologi. Setelah menggunakan diffuser selama 24 jam, hasil kegiatan memperlihatkan penurunan kadar Coliform dan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat tentang disinfeksi air. Meningkatkan kualitas air sumur bor menjadi lebih mudah dan hemat biaya dengan teknologi ini. Masyarakat yang tinggal di daerah rawan banjir dapat menjadikan proyek ini sebagai contoh pengelolaan air berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Limbah kulit pisang kepok dari Kelompok Wanita Tani Suka Maju belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sehingga berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan. Salah satu upaya pemanfaatannya adalah mengolah limbah tersebut menjadi kompos karena mengandung unsur hara yang bermanfaat bagi tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh variasi penambahan limbah kulit pisang kepok dalam pengomposan sampah organik terhadap kadar nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), kalium (K), serta lama waktu pembentukan kompos. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan rancangan Post Test Only with Control Group yang terdiri atas tiga perlakuan (40%, 50%, dan 60% limbah kulit pisang kepok) serta satu kelompok kontrol (0%), masing-masing dengan enam kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi penambahan limbah kulit pisang kepok berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar N, P, dan K berdasarkan uji Multivariate Analysis of Variance dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p<0,05). Perlakuan penambahan 40% menghasilkan waktu kematangan kompos tercepat, sedangkan perlakuan 60% menghasilkan kadar N, P, dan K tertinggi. Seluruh kompos yang dihasilkan memenuhi persyaratan mutu berdasarkan Standar Nasional Indonesia 19-7030-2004. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang kepok merupakan alternatif yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas kompos sekaligus mengurangi timbulan limbah organik.
