Abstract

In this research, the problem to find an evaluator to determine a location to build the standalone power system can be seen as problem which can be solved with Kernels Regression where, it will receive 2 inputs such as time and wind speed in order to predict the future wind speed. Afterward the obtained predicted wind speed will be converted into potential electrical energy with maximum and minimum energy and we will be using the Genetic Algorithm (GA) to solve the Economic Dispatch (EDC) to see the operational cost when dispatch into the grid. The data was taken from Baron Techno-Park and PLTH Pantai Baru, and will only be using data from the month of September - December since it is the rainy season. Therefore, since significant parameters such as energy per currency will show that operational cost of Baron Techno-Park have the least operational cost then PLTH Pantai Baru, hence the creation of renewable power plants in Baron Techno-Park are suitable and will have a good operational cost justification. Abstract

The depletion of non-renewable energy reserves and increased awareness of environmental damage caused by fossil-based fuel use have encouraged the world’s efforts to develop and utilize new and renewable energy sources, including in Indonesia, especially in the special region of Yogyakarta. The potential for wind power plants can be developed in 3 districts in the southern part of Yogyakarta, bordering the Java Sea, to be converted into hydrogen through an electrolysis process. The three research locations were Bugel Beach in Kulon Progo, Pandansimo Baru Beach in Bantul, and Baron Techno Park at Baron Beach in Gunung Kidul. The selection of the most optimum location was made employing the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method by considering three factors, namely technical, location, and socio-economic factors. The first factor includes the potential for electricity generation from wind power and the available land area. The second one consists of sub-factors, namely access to the location and the distance to the PLN electricity distribution line. Then the last one includes conflicts with tourism and the economic activities of the surrounding community. After obtaining the most suitable location, planning is carried out for the wind farm that is built, the amount of electrical energy produced, the cost of generating electricity, and the cost of producing hydrogen from the electrolysis process. Pandansimo Baru Beach is an ideal location, with an average wind speed of 4.833 m/s. Five Vestas V80 2000/80 wind turbines were selected according to the available land. The annual electrical energy that can be produced from this system is 161,677,216 kWh/year with a generation cost of 0.118 USD/kWh and is capable of producing 230,960 kgH2 of hydrogen at 4.35 USD/kg.

Abstract

Renewable energy is generated through the conversion process of energy sources which are abundant in the earth such as wind, sun, heat, rain, geothermal, hydro, ocean water and others into an environmentally friendly form of energy. This kind of energy does not cause negative effects to the environment when being used. Therefore, by using renewable energy, the earth is not polluted. This is a major step in controlling global warming, which is one of the elements that leads to environmental degradation. The use of renewable energy sources is indispensable. One great opportunity for future renewable energy is the integration of various sources of energy (hybrid power plant). This paper presents the analysis performance of hybrid power plant (wind and solar) installed in the area of Baron Techno Park. Modeling with HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable) Version 3.8.1 was done with two conditions, first was a grid connected and the second was an off-grid condition. The first system modeling for the installed system capacity NPC and COE had the lowest price for the off-grid condition being $ 62.020 and - $ 0.0213. For the $ 4,910.37 / year was system operating cost. For this capacity, electricity that was connected into grid up to 152.473 kWh / year. The second modeling systems was done with generating capacity in operating. Unknown NPC price was $ 20,887.76 and the COE was - $ 0,021 for grid connected system condition. Operational cost up to $1,685.87 / year, and electricity production being was 63,55 kWh / year.     With the grid, the contribution of Baron Techno Park hybrid power plants could lower carbon dioxide gas up to 82.63 kg/year for operating systems and 202.63 kg/year for systems with installed capacity.

Abstract

The reliability of stand-alone and hybrid power plant systems was dependent on electrical loads that the system must supply. For example, on renewable energy sources (RES), Reviews of those systems needs to be calculated well before the development process. One of the most important processes in the initial calculation is the electrical load that must be supplied by the system. The electrical load has a major influence on the amount of power generating capacity. A power plant that has higher electricity production than the load to be fulfilled was considered capable of meeting the system electrical load requirements. However, in terms of the reliability, it is considered as a loss because it will affect the life of the components and the high cost of operating from the system. Therefore, this research discusses the effect of load growth on hybrid power plant system performance of Baron Techno Park. The result of the research shows that the total electricity production of Baron Techno Park hybrid power plant system is 319.695 kWh/year with Net Present Cost (NPC) is $560.077 and the cost of energy (COE) is $0.64/kWh. Total electricity consumption of the PLTH Baron Techno Park is 67.413 kWh/year with total excess electrical energy is 245,547 kWh/year. Load growth of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the total current load affect the consumption of electric energy, excess electrical energy, and COE. The higher the load growth will affect the total electricity consumption that is increasingly higher so that the total excess electrical energy is lower. This research found that the performance of the system is not influenced by load growth. The highest performance of the system is resulted by the wind turbine of 72.62%, followed by solar panels of 18.82%, and biodiesel of 8.56%.

Abstract

Abstract - The Baron Techno Park area is a model of an energy independent area that utilizes an electrical system based on a Hybrid Power Plant (Wind Energy and Solar Energy). The electrical system was built using an off grid system since 2011, by utilizing a battery of 120 cells @ 1200 Ah as energy storage. A battery system with lead acid battery (flooded battery) technology that has been operating for 10 years should be a concern. This makes a consideration for conducting research on evaluating the performance of a hybrid system battery. Voltage (V) and Specific Gravity (SG) measurements in no-load conditions are used as methods to see battery performance. Based on the measurement results, it is known that the average voltage and specific gravity are 2.074 volts and 1.160 g/ml. From the measurements, it is also shown that the 87th battery cell has the lowest performance, with an average voltage value of 2.023 volts and an average specific gravity of 1.099 g/ml.

Abstract

This paper presents the analysis of wind data at KST Baron Techno Park in the form of a wind rose diagram. Wind data analyzed in the 2019 period. The wind data is very important for evaluating wind potential, namely, the production of electricity from wind sources. This is because, KST Baron Techno Park is still experiencing difficulties in obtaining long-term anemometric data and short-term data related to wind speed and wind direction. Even though this is very important for the optimization of the operation and maintenance of the Wind Power Plant (PLTB) which is part of the hybrid electricity system. This is to examine the characteristics of the wind that several times caused damage to the blade until it broke. Making wind rose diagrams using Microsoft Excel. From the analysis, it is known that the wind direction is dominated by the southeast (SE) with a wind speed of 1-4 m/s.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of Ramadan intermittent fasting on cognitive work performance using a more natural approach. To achieve the objective of this study, a natural experimental approach was employed by incorporating a pretest-posttest control group design. A forward-type Digit Span Test (DST) was utilized as the measure of the cognitive work performance and was administered to participants twice, before and during Ramadan, with one-month gap between the tests. Two hundred and sixty-seven participants were naturally grouped into fasting and non-fasting groups according to their report during Ramadan session and into morning and afternoon periods, or AM and PM hours, according to their module scheduling. The results of the analyses suggest that the cognitive work performance of the fasting participants during the PM hours is better, after controlling the DST scores before Ramadan. The study also concludes that the cognitive work performance of the fasting participants between AM and PM hours does not differ. This result could be explained using the perspectives of post-lunch performance dip and the beneficial effect of breakfast. Methodological limitations and potential practical implementation of this study are also discussed.

Abstract

The interaction between self-efficacy and several demographic variables is still rarely explored in the context of explaining teacher’s attitude toward inclusive education practices. This paper therefore aims to investigate the relationship between these variables and their interaction in explaining teacher’s attitude. Ninety-five teachers participated in our study by completing questionnaires and psychological scales capturing their self-efficacy, demographic information, and attitude towards inclusive education. The results suggest that higher self-efficacy may predict higher score in attitude (R2 = 0.045, F(1, 93) = 4.41, p < 0.05), yet demographic variables cannot significantly act as predictors (R2 = 0.13, F(13, 81) = 0.89, p = 0.56). This study brings an important notion to prioritize strategies to increase teacher self-efficacy to foster the implementation of inclusive education practices.
