Abstract

This study aims to verify the authenticity of the two translations of the digital Qur’an into the Indonesian language, its suitability, and its translation comparison of two digital Qur’ans. The researcher relied on the qualitative descriptive approach by pragmatically translating the digital Quran. The primary source of this study is https://quran.kemenag.go.id/ and https://kalam.sindonews.com/quran. The study concluded that the two digital Qurans have a correct translation, but some translation errors must be noted and modified. The two digital Qurans did not have a certificate of correction from the Qur’an Correction Committee at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. They did not contain information to document the authenticity of the Quran texts, and the translation reference was referred to as a printed and published source. Digital matters may be deleted and hidden due to electricity, network, or device, so it must have relied on a printed Qur’an.

Abstract

A linguistic interpretation appeared at the hands of the Sheikh al-Azhar, Muhammad Sayed Tantawi, whose field was in tafsir. He wrote a tafsir book of the Holy Qur'an in thirty volumes until he became famous as an interpreter, modernizer, and Islamic thinker. He formulated his interpretation with balāghah's (Arabic Rhetoric) explanation in linguistic studies. The problem was whether Sheikh al-Azhar specialized in linguistic studies. This study aims to find his scientific personality and creativity in the balāghah explanation. The researchers used inductive and analytical approaches in three sections (juz) of Tafsīr al-Wasīṭ: the first, second, and third. The finding is that Sheikh al-Azhar was a prominent figure in the balāghah aspect, as he created a single opinion when explaining the rhetorical verses of the Qur'an. In his explanation, he may transfer from the books of the former interpreters. However, he was not only satisfied with conveying their opinions but also showed the existence of scientific discussion among the interpreters, adding a new opinion, preferring an opinion, or confirming a correct opinion by relying on Arabic grammar, tafsir, and hadith. This work indicated the existence of multidisciplinary studies in linguistics and Islamic studies.

Abstract

The learning of maharah kalam (Arabic speaking skills) at Khairunnas Islamic Senior High School, Surabaya, encountered several non-linguistic obstacles that hindered students’ speaking proficiency. This study aimed to identify and analyze these barriers and propose relevant pedagogical solutions. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving one teacher and eight twelfth-grade Science students as participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and verification using source triangulation. The findings revealed three categories of non-linguistic barriers: (1) psychological factors, such as low motivation and self-confidence; (2) pedagogical factors, including monotonous teaching methods and limited speaking practice; and (3) socio-academic factors, particularly the lack of a school environment that supports the active use of Arabic. The study concludes that implementing communicative teaching methods and fostering a supportive language environment are essential to improving students’ Arabic speaking skills.
