Abstract

Speaking skills (Maharah Kalam) in Arabic are indeed very important in language proficiency, especially for Arabic learners. Proficiency in speaking is the goal of learning Arabic. Learning Arabic with the debate method, in addition to increasing knowledge about Arabic, can also increase confidence in speaking skills. This study aims to determine the level of confidence in Maharah Kalam and the strategies used to improve Maharah Kalam in the Arabic debate. The focus of this research is on members of al-Motayat who is an Arabic debate forum in the Arabic Language and Literature department of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. While this type of research is quantitative descriptive with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and taking notes. The results of this study indicate that Arabic debate can improve proficiency in speaking Arabic, which is evidenced by the results of interviews that confidence in Maharah Kalam with debate increases from 30% to 70%.

Abstract

The learning of Arabic for prospective Hajj and Umrah pilgrims is an essential necessity to facilitate smooth communication during their pilgrimage journey in the Holy Land. This study analyzes the implementation of a communicative approach in Arabic language learning conducted by the Arabic Language Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Karanganyar within the Tour and Travel Community at The Park Mall. The program aims to equip pilgrims with practical and applicable language skills. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, documentation, and relevant literature review. A total of 21 participants took part in the Arabic language learning program, which applied a communicative approach through conversation simulations, role-playing, and context-based exercises related to worship and daily life in Mecca and Medina. The findings indicate that the implementation of a communicative approach has a positive impact on improving participants' Arabic language skills, providing them with a more practical understanding and speaking ability. Before joining the program, most participants struggled to comprehend and use Arabic. However, after engaging in communicative-based learning, they showed significant progress in speaking, understanding instructions, and recognizing basic Arabic writing commonly encountered during their pilgrimage journey.

Abstract

The learning of maharah kalam (Arabic speaking skills) at Khairunnas Islamic Senior High School, Surabaya, encountered several non-linguistic obstacles that hindered students’ speaking proficiency. This study aimed to identify and analyze these barriers and propose relevant pedagogical solutions. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving one teacher and eight twelfth-grade Science students as participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and verification using source triangulation. The findings revealed three categories of non-linguistic barriers: (1) psychological factors, such as low motivation and self-confidence; (2) pedagogical factors, including monotonous teaching methods and limited speaking practice; and (3) socio-academic factors, particularly the lack of a school environment that supports the active use of Arabic. The study concludes that implementing communicative teaching methods and fostering a supportive language environment are essential to improving students’ Arabic speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of students in the Islamic History and Culture Study Program at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Yogyakarta regarding the use of Quizizz as an evaluation medium in Arabic language learning. The study focuses on three main aspects: students’ satisfaction, motivation, and knowledge. A qualitative approach with descriptive analysis was employed. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The research population consisted of 31 second-semester students enrolled in the Arabic Language course. The questionnaire instrument was measured using a four-point Likert scale (strongly disagree, disagree, agree, strongly agree) to obtain quantifiable data. The results indicate that the majority of students responded positively to the use of Quizizz as an evaluation tool. This positive response was influenced by the ease of use, appealing interface design, transparency in displaying scores, and the platform’s ability to help students recall and understand the learning material. In addition, the use of Quizizz created a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, encouraging students to learn more actively and strive for better scores. These findings confirm that integrating interactive digital media such as Quizizz can serve as an effective and innovative evaluation strategy, while also opening opportunities for the development of technology-based learning methods in Arabic language courses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the acceptance and perceptions of students in the Arabic Language Education at Muhammadiyah University of Karanganyar regarding the use of Tasrif Reverso as a digital tool in Arabic language learning, particularly in the sharf course. The research employed a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis techniques. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to PBA students who had taken the sharf course and used the Tasrif Reverso platform during the learning process. A total of 10 questionnaire items were adapted from several journal articles and categorized based on the indicators of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), namely External Variable, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Attitude Toward Using, and Behavioral Intention. All questionnaire items were analyzed using SPSS through validity and reliability testing. The validity test results indicated that all items were declared valid, with rcalculated values higher than the rtable value (0.532). The reliability test produced a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.889, indicating that all items were reliable. The findings of the study show that, in general, students have a positive perception of the use and acceptance of Tasrif Reverso based on the TAM indicators. The platform is considered helpful in understanding the material related to word-pattern changes (tashrif). This research is expected to serve as a reference for the development of digital learning media that can enhance students’ linguistic competence, particularly in the field of Arabic morphology (sharf).
