Abstract

Abstract

The adhesion of green mussel spit is highly correlated with depth. This study aims to establish the correlation between the depth and duration of observation with the abundance of green mussel spat (Perna viridis) in the coastal waters of Waiheru Village, located in Inner Ambon Bay. This study was undertaken utilising three floating net cages (KJA) possessed by local fishermen. The KJA utilised in this investigation had dimensions of 2.0 x 2.5 metres. Each KJA is equipped with 4 threads of hanger rope, resulting in a total of 12 hangers. Each rope hanger is positioned at specific depths, specifically at depths of 3, 6, and 9 metres. The net is 40 cm by 40 cm. Observations were conducted on days 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 after the nets were strung. The findings indicated that the depth and duration of observation significantly influenced the quantity of green mussel spat. Specifically, more spat was observed compared to other days, suggesting a stronger attachment at that depth and observation period. Nevertheless, on the 10th day of observation, there was a surge in the quantity of green mussel spit.

Abstract

Most people, especially in rural areas, do not know the dangers of used cooking oil for health when reused. Used cooking oil that is no longer used should not be thrown into the environment because it can cause environmental pollution (soil and water). Used cooking oil can be processed into biodiesel as an alternative fuel, so it can be a source of additional income. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to provide education about the dangers of used cooking oil for human health and the environment, as well as practice how to process used cooking oil into biodiesel for the women of the Al-Hijrah Ta'lim Assembly, Air Ali Hamlet, Negeri Rumah Tiga, Ambon. . The methods used in this PkM activity are lecture, demonstration and practice methods. All participants were very enthusiastic about participating in this PkM activity until the end. After following the education delivered by the lecturers, all participants became aware and aware of the dangers of used cooking oil for health and the environment. The participants were also very happy because they gained knowledge about how to process used cooking oil into biodiesel. This PkM activity has had a very positive impact on the surrounding community in Air Ali Hamlet.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the physical and chemical factors of the waters (Temperature, Salinity, pH, Dissolved Oxygen) and the diversity of sea cucumbers (holothuroidae) in the coastal waters of Pia Hamlet. The method used is the Belt Transect method. Analysis of diversity data using the Shannon-Winner diversity index formula then to determine the functional relationship between sea cucumber diversity and physical and chemical factors of waters was carried out using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression. The results showed that 1 class, 2 orders, 2 families, 3 genera with 5 species, namely Holothuria atra, Holothuria leucopsilota, Holothuria scabra, Bohadschia argus and Synapta maculate. The diversity index value is low with an average value of 0.7214. The temperature measurement results ranged from 28.04°C-30.16°C. Salinity measurement results ranged from 31.21-32.26 ‰. The results of pH measurements ranged from 6.80-7.41. Dissolved oxygen measurement results ranged from 5.96-6.40 mg/L. The results of simple regression analysis showed that dissolved oxygen had a relationship and had a significant effect on sea cucumber diversity. The results of multiple regression analysis explained that salinity and dissolved oxygen, if tested together, had a strong relationship and had a significant effect on sea cucumber diversity.

Abstract

Collembola are a good example of the diversity of soil animals and play an important role in nutrient cycling, organic matter decomposition and soil formation which are important parts of forest ecosystems. This research was conducted on cassava land and a vegetable garden in Waai village, Salahutu sub-district, Central Maluku district, on July 18 2020. This study aims to determine the abundance and diversity of the Collembola insect in shifting cultivation in Waai village, Salahutu sub-district, Central Maluku district and its relationship with environmental factors. Results The study obtained 3 families and 6 species with a total abundance of 12.2 individuals/m2. There are differences in the abundance of Collembola found in vegetable gardens and cassava fields. The abundance of Collembola found in the vegetable garden was 3.6 individuals consisting of 2 families and 2 species, while in cassava fields it was 8.6 individuals divided into 2 families and 4 species.
