Abstract

Penelitian tentang analisis karakteristik sifat kimia dan fisika tanah di Nagari Silokek kawasan geopark nasional Kabupaten Sijunjung, telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mengetahui karakteristik sifat tanah sebagai faktor penentu potensi pertanian di Nagari Silokek kawasan geopark nasional. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survei. Sampel diambil secara purposive random sampling. Sampel tanah diambil pada dua kedalaman yaitu 0-20 cm dan 20-40 cm dengan menggunakan bor Belgie. Analisis sampel tanah meliputi tekstur tanah dengan metode Ayak dan  Pipet, pH (1:1) dengan metoda elektroda gelas pH meter, N-total dengan metode Kjedahl, P-tersedia dengan metode Bray-2 diukur pada spektrofotometer, K yang dapat dipertukarkan dengan metode pencucian dengan amonium asetat pH 7 dan C-organik dengan metode Walkey and Black. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa karakteristik sifat kimia dan sifat fisika tanah di Nagari Silokek mempunyai tingkat kesuburan tanah yang rendah. pH tanah berada pada kriteria masam, kandungan N-total dan P-tersedia tanah pada kriteria rendah, sementara itu K-dd dengan kriteria sedang dan C-organik tanah berada pada kriteria sangat remdah. Tekstur tanah di Nagari Silokek berada pada kelas tekstur pasir berlempung. Kata kunci : sifat tanah, Silokek, Geopark

Abstract

Chili is one of the most widely cultivated vegetable commodities in Indonesia. Objective of the study was to determine the type of basic fertilizer that was best for the growth and yield of chili plants. The research was conducted from January to June 2019 in Nagari Pariangan, Pariangan District Tanah Datar Regency. The experiment was arranged according to the rules of Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, and each replication consisted of 3 samples. The treatments given were straw compost (A), cow manure (B), chicken manure (C), and artificial fertilizer (D). The observed variables consisted of plant height, number of dichotomous branches, flowering age, harvest age, fruit weight, number of fruit, and fruit weight per bed. Data were analyzed using F test at a 5% significance level. If the calculated F is greater than the F table, it is continued with a HSD test. Basic fertilizer with chicken manure provided the best growth and yield for chili plants, especially in the number of dichotomous branches, which was 67 pieces, the fastest flowering age was at 45 days after planting, the fastest harvest age was 91 days after planting, yielding fruit weight the heaviest per plant, that is, 49.96 g, the most number of fruits, which is 16.7 pieces and the highest yield per bed, which is 749.35 g. Recommendations in future research should be more focused on the application dose of basic chicken manure fertilizer so that it can be applied in more detail on farmers' land.

Abstract

Foxtail millet is relatively tolerant to salinity stress and thus can be grown in salinity affected areas. This study was conducted to identify anatomical changes in the roots of foxtail millet genotypes with different tolerance level to salt stress. Four foxtail millet genotypes, namely ICERI-5 and ICERI-6 (salt tolerant) and ICERI-4 and ICERI-10 (salt sensitive), were grown hydroponically for 1 week prior to 60 and 120 mM salt stress treatments. Root anatomical changes were observed on the fifth day after treatments. The results showed that salt stress significantly induced some anatomical changes in the roots of foxtail millet, i.e. increased epidermis and cortex thickness, increased root diameter, and increased the number of root hairs. The increase in epidermis thickness, root diameter and the number of root hairs due to the salt application were more pronounced in the sensitive genotypes. Number of protoxylem in the tolerant genotypes were significantly increased due to salt stress, however salinity significantly decreased the number of protoxylem in the sensitive genotypes. The different anatomical changes under salt stress between the tolerant- and sensitive genotypes indicated that some anatomical attributes of the roots might determine the salt tolerance level of foxtail millet.

Abstract

Semangka merupakan salah satu jenis buah yang banyak diminati oleh masyarakat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat kesukaan konsumen terhadap penampilan dan karakter fisik buah semangka yang beredar di Kabupaten Sijunjung. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pertanian (STIPER) Sijunjung pada Bulan September sampai dengan November 2021. Penelitian ini merupakan gabungan antara penelitian eksperimen, dan survey. Buah yang diuji preferensi ditanam terlebih dahulu di lahan petani. Penanaman mengacu kepada kaidah Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga varietas semangka sebagai perlakuan, dan 6 ulangan. Alat yang digunakan alat tulis, dan bahan yang digunakan adalah 3 varietas semangka hasil panen petani di Jorong Ranah Sigading, yaitu varietas Serif Saga Agrihorti, Zona F1, dan Redin F1. Uji preferensi konsumen dilakukan segera setelah buah dipanen. Pengujian melibatkan 20 orang panelis, yang merupakan mahasiswa STIPER Sijunjung. Percobaan disusun berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan dan 20 ulangan. Perlakuan pada percobaan ini adalah varietas semangka yaitu Serif Saga Agrihorti, Zona F1, dan Redin F1. Peubah yang diamati pada uji preferensi terdiri dari sembilan peubah, yaitu: bentuk buah, ukuran buah, tebal kulit buah, warna daging buah, tekstur daging buah, jumlah biji, kemanisan, rasa daging buah. Varietas semangka yang disukai konsumen di Kabupaten Sijunjung adalah Serif Saga Agrihorti. Varietas ini memiliki keunggulan pada bentuk buah, ukuran buah, tebal kulit buah, tekstur daging buah, dan kesukaan. Watermelon is one type of fruit that is in great demand by the public. This study aims to identify the level of consumer preference for the appearance and physical characteristics of watermelons circulating in Sijunjung Regency. The research was carried out at the Sijunjung College of Agricultural Sciences (STIPER) from September to November 2021. This research is a combination of experimental research, and surveys. The fruit that is tested for preference is planted first on the farmer's land. Planting refers to the rules of Randomized Completely Design with three varieties of watermelon as treatment, and 6 replications. The tools used are stationery, and the materials used are 3 varieties of watermelons harvested by farmers in Jorong Ranah Sigading, namely the Serif Saga Agrihorti, Zona F1 and Redin F1 varieties. Consumer preference tests were carried out immediately after the fruit was harvested. The test involved 20 panelists, who were students of STIPER Sijunjung. The experiment was arranged according to a completely randomized design with three treatments and 20 replications. The treatments in this experiment were watermelon varieties, namely Serif Saga Agrihorti, Zona F1, and Redin F1. The variables observed in the preference test consisted of nine variables, namely: fruit shape, fruit size, fruit skin thickness, fruit flesh color, flesh texture, number of seeds, sweetness, fruit flesh taste. The watermelon variety favored by consumers in Sijunjung Regency is Serif Saga Agrihorti. This variety has advantages in fruit shape, fruit size, fruit skin thickness, flesh texture, and preference.

Abstract

Cocoa is one of the plantation commodities which is a source of state income. Growing media is not only related to seed germination in general, but also relates to the ability of seeds to survive even in a less favorable environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the vigor of cocoa seeds of BL50 variety on several types of germination media. The research was carried out in Nagari Tanjung Lolo, Tanjung Gadang District, Sijunjung Regency from March to April 2022. The tools used consisted of a handsprayer, ruler, caliper, and writing utensil. The materials used in this experiment were BL50 variety cocoa seeds, crushed bricks, humus soil, sand, and insecticide. The experiment was arranged according to the rules of Randomized Block Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 4 replications, and each replication consisted of 7 samples, with a total of 84 samples of cocoa seeds. The treatments given in this study were various sprout media, namely; A = crushed brick B = humus soil, and C = sand. The data were analyzed for variance, if significantly different, it was continued with the Honestly Significant Difference Test (BNJ). The results showed that humus soil media was a good medium for accelerating germination, while sand media was good for root development which included root length and diameter.

Abstract

Community service is important to do in order to develop the order and standard of living of the people in an area. One of them is in Nagari Sungai Kambut where many of the residents are not yet working or not working and some are only taking care of the household. In fact, when viewed from its natural potential, the Nagari Sungai Kambut region has quite a large potential for productive land, including the home yard. Therefore, dedication is carried out in the form of assistance in optimizing the use of the home yard for planting fruits. The hope is to increase the knowledge and improve the skills of the local population. The fruit produced can also be a source of income, apart from just for self-consumption. Service activities begin with socialization, counseling and followed by assistance in planting fruit trees. Farmers are guided and assisted by the team so that when there are problems they can be immediately resolved. During the socialization, the residents actively raised various questions, both from how to plant, maintain and even post-harvest. Seeing the enthusiastic response of the community shows that this service program has been able to increase knowledge about the importance of using the home yard, especially for planting fruits. Overall, a series of community empowerment activities through planting fruits in order to optimize the use of the home yard has given positive impact on the community. Appropriate cultivation techniques will provide benefits to society by increasing crop productivity. The product can be consumed or sold and participate in protecting the environment so that it remains sustainable. The enthusiasm of community was the evidence of their high curiosity and indicator of the successfulness of this activity.

Abstract

Nagari Lubuk Karak is administratively located in the District of Nine Koto, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra Province. Nagari is located in a sloping hill area with relatively good forest cover. However, today's environmental conditions in Nagari Lubuk Karak are constantly facing various threats that can damage the sustainability of the ecosystem, which are often caused by economic factors. This activity aims to provide education to the community in synergizing ecological and economic aspects so that the sustainability of the ecosystem in Nagari Lubuk Karak, which is in the upstream area, can always be maintained without compromising the community's welfare. This can be done by integrating reforestation activities using tree seeds that have economic value while at the same time intensifying rice cultivation owned by farmers by implementing the jajar legowo cropping system. This activity was carried out from 08 to 09 October 2022 in Nagari Lubuk Karak, Sembilan Koto District, Dharmasraya Regency. The implementation of the activity consisted of several stages, namely the socialization of reforestation activities and the application of the jajar legowo rice planting system, focus group discussions, and demonstrations of planting tree seedlings. The results of this activity can increase the knowledge and skills of the community regarding the importance of reforestation using tree seeds that have economic value while at the same time intensifying rice cultivation belonging to farmers by implementing the jajar legowo cropping system to increase farmers' income so that the economic and ecological aspects can work synergistically.

Abstract

Aren palm (Arenga pinnata Merr) belongs to the palm tribe. The problem that is often encountered in aren palm plants is the low productivity of aren palm plants, this is allegedly because the seeds used are not superior seeds and cultivation techniques that are not yet appropriate. The low production of plants is thought to be due to the low knowledge of the community on the use of superior aren palm planting materials, where the cultivated aren palm is not considered superior properties, including the diversity of aren palm species that grow wildly is still high in one forest land, unclear identity of seeds used by farmers. Researchers obtained 15 samples of aren palm plants characterized by 19 characters, namely 10 characters have wide variability and 9 characters have narrow variability with a level of diversity ranging from 14% - 47%.

This research will be conducted from May to October 2023 in community-owned aren palm plantations in 50 cities. The purpose of this research is to characterize the morphology of Aren plants in District 50 Kota and to see the level of diversity of aren palm plants in the area. The research method was survey method, with purposive sampling. The data collection technique is to observe the morphological parts of the plant in each sample. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively, while for the analysis of similarity the calculation of the NTSYS Ver 2.02 program was used.
