Abstract

With the increasing volume of sea water due to global climate change in the coastal area is very prone to rob (flood). Indonesian mainland will automatically narrowed since eroded by sea water which swept the coast. Construction of a structure to prevent it are necessary. So dam offshore is the right solution to reduce the problem of marine activities which lead to the reduction of the Indonesian mainland. In addition this structure also has a variety of functions, among others, is a provider of fresh water and alternative energy generation for coastal communities. Application of offshore dam would improve the welfare of people, especially in the coastal areas of Indonesia.

Abstract

Heavy metal contamination of traditional herbal medicine (jamu) is a threat to humans, especially at levels above known threshold concentrations. Traditional herbal medicine found in Banda Aceh City – Indonesia, polluted by heavy metals cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and mercury (Hg) was performed. Heavy metal analysis used Flame - Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS) and Chemical Vapor Generation - Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CVG - AAS) methods. The validation of the method was performed to obtain more accurate heavy metal analysis results for the samples. Heavy metal contamination, especially Pb metal, with concentrations of 4.32 ± 0.14 mg/Kg to 29.25 ± 0.24 mg/Kg. The Cd metal contamination was only found in herbal medicine sample E with a concentration of 0.80 ± 0.02 mg/Kg, above the threshold. The Hg metal contamination was also found with concentrations of 0.20 ± 0.01 to 2.14 ± 0.06 mg/Kg, and some were not detected. The government should be very concerned about stopping the distribution of herbal medicine that can be harmful to health and should inspect drug stores that still sell herbs that do not have established standards.

Abstract

In an increasingly competitive era of globalization, business actors are required to be more selective in starting their business. One important step that must be taken is to conduct a business feasibility study, which covers various aspects, including market, technical, financial, management, and legal. The legal aspect is the main foundation that must be considered to ensure the continuity of business operations legally and avoid potential problems in the future. Consumer demand for quality food and beverage products is increasing, creating great opportunities for business actors. Chicken Crush, as a chicken-based culinary business, faces legal challenges ranging from business licensing to compliance with food safety standards. A business feasibility study is an important instrument in identifying crucial aspects that need to be considered. This article aims to analyze the legal aspects in a business feasibility study with a focus on the Chicken Crush case, and to show how legal compliance can be one of the keys to the success of a food and beverage business in Indonesia. Through a comprehensive analysis, it is hoped that this article can be a reference for other business actors in understanding the importance of the legal aspect, especially in the context of a food and beverage business that has special regulations.

Abstract

This research examines how the adoption of digital technology and digital literacy affects the financial performance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. With a quantitative approach and using a multiple linear regression model on data from 2013 to 2023, this research finds that digital literacy and the use of e-commerce have a significant positive impact on the profitability of MSMEs. However, the adoption of digital technology and digital payment methods shows a negative, although still significant, impact on the financial performance of MSMEs. These findings indicate that digital transformation can increase the profitability of MSMEs, as long as it is supported by effective implementation strategies, such as training in technology and digital literacy. This research recommends optimizing digitalization programs, providing technological incentives and policy support to maximize the positive benefits of digitalization for the development of MSMEs.

Abstract

Introduction: Tea consumption causes extrinsic stain formation on teeth and denture surfaces, affecting personal appearance. Herbal plants extract such as green tea, bay leaf, and lime peel are potentially active agents for extrinsic stain removal. This study aimed to analyse the effectiveness of green tea, bay leaf, and lime peel extracts as toothpaste active agents for extrinsic stain removal on teeth, artificial teeth, and denture base. Methods: Twenty-five post-extracted human permanent central incisors, 25 artificial teeth, and 25 heat polymerised acrylic resin denture base (20x20x10mm) were divided into three treatment groups and two control groups. Pictures of all specimens were taken before and after stain induction and after brushing. All specimens were immersed in a tea solution made from 2 grams of tea and 100ml of 100°C boiled water to induce extrinsic stain. The immersion process was repeated every 24 hours for seven days. All specimens were then brushed using an automatic toothbrushing machine for 70 seconds on each surface, 200 grams loads, and five speeds/second. Toothpaste used for brushing were three different active agent toothpaste (treatment groups), no active agent toothpaste, and commercial whitening (control groups). Colour index analysis of the specimen pictures computerised by CIELAB method. The data were analysed by one-way ANOVA (α=0.05). Results: Green tea, bay leaf, and lime peel extract toothpaste and positive control had higher L-values of extrinsic stain removal than essential toothpaste on all specimens. There was a significant difference between green tea, bay leaf, and lime peel extract toothpaste and negative control toothpaste (p<0.05), while no significant difference was found when compared to the positive control toothpaste (p>0.05). Conclusion: Green tea, bay leaf, and lime peel extract toothpaste are effective as extrinsic stain removal on teeth and acrylic resin denture base because of abrasive materials that work together with the active agents such as epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in green tea, eugenol in bay leaf, and naringin in lime peel.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of State Capital Participation (PMN), strategic orientation, accountability, good corporate governance (GCG), and risk management on the financial performance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia during the 2021–2024 period. Using a quantitative approach with panel data and the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), the research involved 62 SOEs with a total of 217 observations. The results show that, simultaneously, the five independent variables significantly affect financial performance as measured by net profit after tax. However, individually, none of the variables show a statistically significant impact. These findings suggest that PMN and internal strategies have not yet delivered direct short-term improvements in profitability, likely due to external factors such as government intervention, long-term projects, and post-pandemic economic conditions. Furthermore, the implementation of GCG, accountability, and risk management tends to have long-term effects that are not immediately reflected in financial outcomes. This study contributes to the understanding of how structural and strategic factors interact in shaping SOE performance and recommends that policymakers and SOE leaders enhance coordination between fiscal support and internal governance reforms to achieve sustainable financial outcomes.
