Abstract

This paper analyses the social communication model of a menyilaq ritual within the Bayan indigenous people in North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). By using the ethnographic communication approach, this study found that the tradition of menyilaq carried out by Pebenkel to the Bayan indigenous people utilised the patterns of passive top-down and active top-down socialization. The Menyilaq ritual reflected effective communication as there were personal contact and immediate feedback within both top-down socialisation models. Additionally, it became a medium of communication of silaturahim which were considered as a form of respects to maintain family ties and able to build good relations among community members. Further, the tradition has shown its consistency in maintaining the tradition of information delivery amid the onslaught of the current communication technology.

Abstract

This article explores the empowerment and promotion of Inclusive Islam on the tourist island of Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia. The findings show that the Muslim community on this Island promotes inclusive values of Islam through the intensification of Islamic education for children, consistency of preaching, and the implementation of local norms based on Islamic values. Promoting inclusive Islam conducted indirectly through the implementation of tolerant Islamic teachings – without undermining or being undermined by the presence of tourist activities in the region, could make Islamic cultural events for tourism purposes and involve the mosque in the tourism business. This article argues that tolerance as one of the characteristics of inclusive Islam is not enough to be taught through formal and non-formal education, but needs to be maintained through social and economic activities. Therefore, this study recommends the important endeavours to preserve inclusive traditions of Islam in tourist destinations for religious and economic purposes.

Abstract

The involvement of NU organizational elites can be seen from the role, contribution and political communication strategies they played during the 2020 regional elections in convincing the electorate at the grassroots level. In the regional elections in Central Lombok district in 2020, the political phenomenon that was visible before the voting public was related to the involvement of the Central Lombok NU elite in winning the Lalu Pathul Bahri Candidate Pair - HM Nursiah or the Maiq Meres candidate pair. This research is participatory field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The research process was carried out intensively for two months involving informants consisting of main informants and supporting informants regarding the winning of regional head candidates Lalu Pathul Bahri-HM Nursiah. This study found that the Central Lombok district NU elite played an active role as a medium, or media for political communication, the pair of candidates for regent and candidate for deputy regent of Central Lombok Pathul Bhari and HM. Nursiah. The Central Lombok NU elite took part in visiting the electorate, both personally and institutionally. The communication strategy used by the NU elite to convey political messages is to maximize the role of the organizational network, the network of NU teachers, as well as NU's amaliyah activities, which are driven to support pairs of regional head candidates supported by NU.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan potensi konflik yang terjadi di masyarakat Hindu dan Islam perspektif komunikasi antarbudaya. Selain itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara mengatasi konflik dan faktor apa saja yang menimbulkan terjadinya konflik di Taman Lingsar Lombok Barat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan pengamatan dan wawancara. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data deskriptif kualitatif yaitu dengan cara cenderung menggunakan kata-kata untuk menjelaskan temuan-temuan atau data yang didapatkan di Lapangan penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menujukkan beberapa temuan antara lain sebagai berikut: 1. Potensi konflik Antaragama Hindu dan Islam dalam ritual Perang Topat di Taman Lingsar Lombok Barat a. Potensi konflik internal agama Hindu yang terjadi ber-efek akan menimbulkan konflik antaragama, yang terjadi dualismen kepengurusan dari Anak Agung dengan Kubu Krama Pura Lingsar, anak agung yang mengklaim pengurusan Pura yang ada di Pura Lingsar sedangkan kubu Krama Pura Lingsar sudah mempunyai sertifikat atas nama Banjar Krama Pura Lingsar b. Masyarakat yang membungkus batu pakai topat dilempar,telur busuk, dan saling senggol-senggolan bisa akan menimbulkan terjadinya potensi konflik Antaragama dalam ritual Perang Topat di Taman Lingsar Lombok Barat

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pandemi COVID-19 yang telah mentransformasi komunikasi manusia di tengah berbagai ketidakpastian yang secara cepat dan drastis mengubah hampir seluruh aspek kehidupan. Salah satu yang terdampak adalah komunikasi antara anggota DPRD dengan konstituennya dalam memenuhi kewajiban konstitusional melalui program reses. Studi kasus deskriptif kualitatif ini dilakukan pada Fraksi Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP) DPRD Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis strategi dan hambatan adaptasi komunikasi yang dilakukan anggota DPRD KPS pada masa reses di tengah regulasi pandemi COVID-19. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman, dengan teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, serta pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa pandemi COVID-19 memunculkan pendekatan baru dalam penyelenggaraan masa reses bagi anggota Fraksi PPP di DPRD NTB, yang sebelumnya tidak dirasakan sebagai wujud adaptasi komunikasi di masa pandemi. Studi ini juga mengungkapkan bahwa hambatan adaptasi komunikasi telah menyebabkan perubahan peraturan
