Abstract

Some conditions are unconcerned with students believing they are learning mathematics. Students' disinterest increases when the situation is online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In that case, fully online learning reduces students' mathematical and computing abilities. Therefore, this study aims to obtain a hypothetical learning trajectory in mathematics learning in constructing the skills to master mathematical and computational thinking for secondary school students. This study used part of the research development method of validation research which focuses on Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT). The preparation of the HLT focuses on mastering the mathematical and computational thinking skills of junior high school students using teaching materials, learning media, and evaluation instruments on rank number and square roots materials. The subjects in this study were 30 junior high school students in class IX who took mathematics classes. The series of activities and forms of student learning assumptions become one complete trajectory for the purpose of learning achievement. A Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) was developed based on the findings of an analysis of the activities of the Junior High School Mathematics curriculum suite and PISA 2021, test results, initial observations during the learning process, and interviews with students and teachers. HLT preparation has an impact on creating learning designs that are ready to be continued at the implementation stage in the following class.

Abstract

This research aims to develop mathematics learning media called ETNOSIKA-AR, which combines visual-interactive concepts with the local cultural values of the Kaliwadas Ancient Well Site in circular materials to improve students' understanding of concepts. Media development is carried out based on the ADDIE model, consists of five systematic stages: needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research was conducted in June and involved high school students in class X in Cirebon. The validation results by three experts show that this media is included in the very valid category, with percentages of 94.7%, 97.9%, and 96.8%, respectively. A practicality test was conducted involving 31 high school students, and the results showed that 77% of students stated that this medium was practical, and 13% said it was very practical. On the other hand, only 10% consider it less valuable. The analysis showed that 77.42% of students were in the high N-Gain category, and 22.58% were in the medium category, with no students in the low category, with an average N-Gain score of 0.7762. These findings show that ETNOSIKA-AR media effectively improve understanding of circular matter. This media also succeeds in presenting interesting and meaningful learning by integrating cultural and technological aspects.

Abstract

Story questions have level of abstraction characteristics. In the story question, it can be seen that the student' abstract extended level by changing the pattern questions according to the indicators of high-level mathematical thinking. This study aims to determine the ability of students to understand mathematical concepts in the SPLDV material using SOLO Taxonomy-based questions and student responses in working on these questions. When researchers did a teaching practice at a vocational high school in Cirebon district, they found that the students' ability to understand concepts was still low, this was confirmed by interviews with students that they did not understand SPLDV questions, especially in making mathematical models of a story problem. This research is located in one of the Vocational High Schools in Cirebon Regency. The subjects of this study were 21 class X students. The researcher used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach because the researcher wanted to find out more about how students understood mathematical concepts in the SPLDV material using SOLO Taxonomy-based questions. The results of this study were the students' ability to understand mathematical concepts in the SPLDV Material Using SOLO Taxonomy-based questions was still very low, namely 37.10% and the responses given by students were positive for the use of questions based on the use of SOLO Taxonomy-based questions.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze computational thinking skills from the perspective of students' self-confidence in mathematics learning, employing a qualitative approach and a case study method. The subjects of this research consisted of thirty-five students from tenth grade, selected based on self-confidence—categorized as high, moderate, and low. Data collection techniques included a computational thinking skills test focused on systems of linear equations in two variables, a self-confidence questionnaire, and interviews. The findings reveal that students with high self-confidence demonstrated the ability to meet all indicators of computational thinking skills. In contrast, students with moderate self-confidence could only fulfill two indicators—decomposition and algorithmic thinking—indicating that they struggled with pattern recognition and abstraction. Meanwhile, students with low self-confidence exhibited limited computational thinking skills, with some meeting only the decomposition indicator and others failing to meet any expected indicators.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in-depth students' conceptual knowledge and reasoning when solving problems using mathematical proof as a rigorous mathematical thinking paradigm. The research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach that analyzes the mathematical proof ability of nine students who represent different cognitive functions from each level of rigorous mathematical thinking. The results showed that each level of rigorous mathematical thinking meant other indicators according to their ability to master conceptual knowledge and implement mathematical ideas through reasoning. This research has an impact on the treatment that the teacher must give in determining the learning model and evaluation instrument that can raise students' conceptual knowledge and reasoning.
