Abstract

Based on data from the Cancer Hospital Dharmais (RSKD), from 2004 to 2010, breast cancer was always the top ranked. It showed that breast cancer is a serious disease in Indonesia. Psychological reactions that usually appear after a patient adjudged breast cancer is a mental shock, anxiety, could not accept the fact, to depression. Anxiety that occurs in patients with breast cancer will be reduced if the immediate environment, such as family, relatives, friends, and neighbors provide social support to the patient. This study aims to examine the relationship between social support with anxiety in breast cancer patients. This study involved 30 breast cancer patients with stage II and III age range 17-60 years. It was based on the assumption that patients in stage II and III may exhibit anxiety traits and still possible to join the study, and patients with an age range 17-60 years has had psychological maturity and be able to think logically. This research used quantitative methods using scale study, which was based on indicators which refer to the theory of social support by Sarafino (1998) and the theory of anxiety by Nevid (2005). The results of this study indicate that there was an association between social support with anxiety in breast cancer patients.Keywords: Breast cancer patients, social support, and anxiety

Abstract

Mother stopped working, and chose to become a housewife as may be necessary to adjust themselves well, such as nurturing and caring for the child, completing household chores well, and socialize with the environment around the house. Adjustment is done well will be associated with the formation of a good self esteem. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem with the adjustment to the role of a housewife mother stopped working in Jakarta. The sampling technique in this research using accidental sampling technique by taking the subject as much as 70 housewives in Jakarta. Data analysis techniques used in this study is the Pearson Product Moment Correlation technique. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant positive relationship between self-esteem with the adjustment to the role of a housewife mother stopped working in Jakarta, (r = 0.608, p = 0.000). It can be said that the higher the mother's self-esteem, the better the ability to adjust himself to be a housewife. Conversely, the lower the mother's self-esteem, the worse the ability to adjust himself to be a housewife. Keywords: Self Esteem, Adjustment, Housewife, Mother Stopped Working

Abstract

Excess or lack of weight has a negative risk in children. Cross-sectional study in 3227 parents who have 5-6 years old children showed that children who have excess or lack of weight can have quality of life disorders related to physical health problems. The results of research conducted by Tapper also found that attitudes towards breakfast habits become behavioral predictions breakfast. But it turns out in fact that it is not always proven. Therefore, researchers wanted to see whether attitudes towards breakfast habits have a correlation with the level of a person's weight or not. This research used a correlation type. Participants in this study were 127 students of SD "X" in East Jakarta. Sample selection techniques used in this study was judgmental sampling. Its measurement using a scale of attitudes towards breakfast habits, adaptation of the questionnaire from Tapper, consisting of 13 items. The results of the present study was, calculate the value of r acquired (0.082), then it can be concluded that there was no correlation between attitudes towards breakfast habits with body weight levels in elementary school children.Keywords: Attitude, Breakfast, Body Weight
