Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of KCl-modified Sarulla natural zeolite in removing ammonium ions from aqueous solutions. The zeolite was modified by soaking in 0.5 M (ZA05) and 1.5 M (ZA15) KCl solutions for 24 hours at a solid/solvent ratio of 1:3 (weight/volume). The adsorption process was conducted in batch mode using an orbital shaker at a speed of 100 rpm, with contact times ranging from 0 to 210 minutes. The initial ammonium ion concentration was 100 mg/L, and the analysis was performed using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The results showed that ZA05 and ZA15 adsorbents achieved ammonium ion removal efficiencies of 14.62% and 12.29%, respectively. Adsorption isotherm analysis using the Langmuir and Freundlich models demonstrated a good fit with the equilibrium data, with ZA15 exhibiting a higher maximum adsorption capacity than ZA05. This study confirms the potential of KCl-modified Sarulla natural zeolite as an effective adsorbent material for wastewater treatment.

Abstract

Cempedak peel contains 38.85% pectin compounds and has the potential to become biofilm raw material. The characteristics of pectin-based biofilm can be improved by the addition of a glycerol plasticizer. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in glycerol concentration (0%; 3%; 5%; 7% and 9%) on biofilm charactersitics and biofilm application on the shelf life of mango fruit. Pectin was extracted using 5% citric acid at 85°C or 90 minutes. Biofilms were applied on mango fruit for 8 days. Analysis of pectin compounds showed a yield 22.09%; ash content 7.40%; equivalent weight 588.235 mg; methoxyl content 6.20%; galacturonic acid content 36.12%. Analysis of physical properties and biofilm application on mango fruit showed a density value of 2.833 g/mL; water solubility 79.41%; mango weight loss of 33.47%; and a deacrease in vitamin C of 5%. SEM-EDX analysis showed the pectin particles were homogeneous fine grains and dominated by the element of oxygen (O) 88.84%. FTIR analysis of cempedak fruit peel pectin and biofilm showed functional groups of O-H; C-H (methyl); C=O; C-O; C-C.

Abstract

Objek pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah para nelayan di Desa Bagan Serdang Kecamatan Pantai Labu Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Pengabdian ini berfokus pada proses pengolahan dan pengawetan sumber daya alam hasil laut berupa ikan. Produktivitas ikan yang tinggi di Desa Bagan Serdang mendorong masyarakat bermata pencaharian sebagai nelayan untuk memanfaatkan sumber daya alam hasil laut yang tidak habis terjual dan tidak termanfaatkan dengan baik melalui proses pengawetan menjadi produk ikan asap yang unggul dan bernilai jual. Selama ini, sumber daya alam hasil laut tangkapan melaut hanya dijual di pasar dan sisanya tidak termanfaatkan dan dibuang begitu saja sehingga mencemari ekosistem perairan, hal ini terjadi karena mitra belum memahami bagaimana proses pengolahan dan pengawetan yang tepat untuk sumber daya alam hasil laut, tim pengabdian menawarkan proses pengawetan dengan metode asap cair. Pengolahan dan pengawetan ikan dengan metode asap cair akan menghasilkan produk ikan asap yang tahan dalam jangka panjang. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu sosialisasi dan edukasi, pelatihan teknologi pengawetan asap cair, praktik dan pendampingan, penggunaan dan perawatan peralatan, packaging dan labeling kemasan ikan asap. Manfaat yang diperoleh oleh mitra adalah memanfaatkan secara optimal ikan yang tidak termanfaatkan menjadi produk ikan asap yang bernilai jual, membentuk masyarakat yang mandiri dan kehidupan yang lebih baik, meningkatkan keterampilan kelompok mitra dalam pengolahan dan pengawetan sumber daya alam hasil laut sehingga berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan taraf hidup masyarakat serta terciptanya ketentraman dan kenyamanan dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat.

Abstract

Edible film merupakan kemasan ramah lingkungan (biodegradable) dan bersifat edible (bisa dikonsumsi). Bahan penyusun utama edible film adalah hidrokoloid (polisakarida), lipid dan komposit keduanya. Salah satu jenis polisakarida berpotensi tinggi dan sedang menjadi pusat perhatian para peneliti untuk dijadikan edible film adalah pati. Namun edible film bersifat keras dan mudah rapuh sehingga perlu penambahan plasticizer untuk memperbaiki kelemahan tersebut. Pada penelitian ini digunakan campuran plasticizer gliserol dan sorbitol dengan perbandingan campurannya terhadap bahan baku 10%, 30%, 50% dan 70% (v/b pati) dan variasi konsentrasi gelatin 2 g, 4 g dan 6 g. Pati yang diekstrak dari kulit kopi memiliki kadar air 16% dengan persentase rendemen sebesar 4,39%. Hasil karakteristik edible film terbaik adalah variasi konsentrasi campuran plasticizer 10% dan konsentrasi gelatin 6 g dengan nilai kelarutan dalam air yang dihasilkan 71,37%, ketebalan 0,07 mm, kuat tarik 6,66 MPa, elongasi 22,93% dengan laju permeabilitas terhadap uap air sebesar 0,00433 g/m2s.

Abstract

The mining system implemented at PT. Berkat Bhinneka Perkasa is an underground mining system. The results from mining the metal mineral commodity black lead ore (PbS/Galena) are helpful in the battery industry, color pigments, ammunition, cable coatings, radiation protection, solder, and other materials that use Pb and Zn as basic ingredients. This research examines the neutralization of acid mine drainage using Tohor Lime (CaO) and Calcium Carbonate Lime (CaCO3). The methods used are survey and experimental techniques, where the survey involves field observations to determine observation points and collect data. In contrast, the experimental method includes laboratory analysis followed by data analysis. This research shows that acid mine wastewater with pH 4.74 and 240.20 ppm Fe²⁺ was effectively treated using quicklime, calcium carbonate, TKKS, and rice husk biochar. These ameliorants significantly increased pH and met the river water quality standards per Government Regulation 22 of 2021. Although active ferrous levels also increased, the effect was not statistically significant. However, excessive ferrous content can harm agricultural soils and plants, potentially causing iron toxicity.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghitung daya tampung beban pencemaran total fosfor dari aktivitas keramba jaring apung kemudian menggambarkan persebaran total fosfor dan pengelolaan yang tepat untuk aktivitas budidaya menggunakan keramba jaring apung di Danau Toba Kecamatan Girsang Sipangan Bolon Kabupaten Simalungun. Metode perhitungan daya tampung beban pencemar danau berdasarkan PermenLH No. 28 Tahun 2009 dan metode pengambilan sampel berdasarkan SNI 6989 57 2008. Selanjutnya digambarkan persebaran total fosfor menggunakan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) dan rekomendasi pengelolaan keramba jaring apung dirumuskan dengan analisa SWOT. Nilai daya tampung beban pencemaran total fosfor sebesar – 1.279.719 gr P/tahun. Persebaran total fosfor paling tinggi berada di titik yang paling dekat dengan aktivitas manusia seperti aktivitas domestik, aktivitas pertanian / perkebunan maupun aktivitas yang berasal dari keramba jaring apung sendiri. Pencemaran total fosfor di Danau Toba Kecamatan Girsang Sipangan Bolon termasuk kedalam polusi antropogenik. Maka harus dirumuskan rekomendasi pengelolaan yang tepat bagi aktivitas keramba jaring apung. Rekomendasi pengelolaan keramba jaring apung antara lain menggantikan keramba yang ada dengan menggunakan kolam buatan.

Abstract

Namira High School is one of the favorite schools in the city of Medan, with the number of students graduating and being accepted at the State University increasing from year to year. To further foster and improve the quality and creativity of Namira High School Students and Teachers, a technology-based training program for the Geographical Information System (GIS). Community Service Program is part of the Tri Dharma College, in collaboration with High School partners Namira, is expected to be able to increase learning in the Computer Laboratory to learn the concepts and technology of GIS which is relatively new. By attending this training, students get the opportunity to work more by utilizing geospatial-based information. The use of Geographical Information System (GIS) in various fields is very real, because GIS provides various facilities that are relatively easy to do. With the open source GIS software training, it is hoped that students and teachers at Namira High School will know the importance of geography literacy and its use in various fields.

Abstract

This research aims to create a poultry feed formulation that complies with SNI 01-3931-2006 standards regarding broiler poultry feed, where the process of making poultry feed includes four main ingredients, namely fish meal, corn, rice bran and vitamins. In this research there are two main processes, namely the process of making fish meal and the process of making poultry feed. Fish meal is a raw material for making poultry feed because it has high protein content. Fish meal in the process of making poultry feed is obtained from processing fish caught at sea by fishermen. This research activity was carried out in Sentang Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Berdagai Regency. This location was chosen because it is near the sea and has abundant natural resource potential for marine products. The resulting poultry feed is then analyzed including water content, protein, oil content, ash content, crude fiber, calcium and protein. Poultry feed analysis was carried out in the Palm Oil Research Center (PPKS) laboratory. The analysis results showed water content 30.90%, protein 11.70%, oil content 3.17%, ash content 5.16%, crude fiber 17.32%, calcium 182.41 ppm and phosphorus <0.01 ppm.
