This research efforts to answer the problem of conflict resolution models were used by Madurese society to resolve carok and why forgiveness can overcome carok conflict. The research tries to understand how the forgiveness stages between the parties involved in the case of carok in Madura? This research used a qualitative method to explore the power of forgiveness in the resolve of carok in Bujur Tengah Village, Batu Marmar, Pamekasan. In collecting data, the researcher used observation, interview, documentation, and triangulation techniques, while the analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research shows that the forgiveness model becomes a conflict resolution capable of controlling anger and retaliation to achieve true reconciliation. That is because the forgiveness mechanism has extraordinary power to rebuild the relationship or restore the effects of trauma from the victim's family. The forgiveness mechanism of forgiveness in the case of carok cannot be separated from the role of Kiai to resolve the disputes of land swap overland (village treasury) between two parties. The Kiai carries out many stages to accelerate the achievement of reconciliation; namely restoring security conditions, embracing the families of carok victims, strengthening friendship to prevent counter-conflict, the tabayyun process by presenting conflicting parties, accelerating dialogue, and holding reconciliation studies.

This paper aims to elaborate the sufism thought of Kiai Kholil as Madurese scholars who still remembered and respected until now. He has important role in spreading Islam with sufism approach and also has been successfully shaping the best muslim generations. This study uses library research to reveal the thought and the role of Kiai Kholil in developing sufism in the Nusantara. This study uses descriptive method to gain a comprehension of his figure known as sufi that inspire muslim generations in Nusantara. The results of this study show that Kiai Kholil has a big contribution in the development of Sufism in Nusantara. The First, Kiai Kholil developed tarekat in Madura, because he has become member of Qadariyah wa Naqsabandiyah Tarekat. Kiai Kholil manages to practice sufism harmoniously to the norms of fiqh. Based on the norms of fiqih, sufism was successfully accepted by people. The second, Kiai Kholil successfully developed the thought and practice of sufism based on the character of ahlussunah wa al-jama>’ah. In this way, he integrates sufism into the life of the society. The character of sufism developed by Kiai Kholil based on ahlussunah wa al-jama>’ah were accepted by the majority of Indonesian society, which emphasize on mutual respect (tasa>muh{), balance (tawa>zun), justice (taa>dul) and moderation (tawa>sut}).

This paper aims to elaborate portrait of the Prophet Muhammad’s leadership in building spirit of peace among Arabs. As the muslims leader, the Prophet Muhammad brought peace mission to uphold justice and to prevent some religious conflicts. This study used library research to understand that Islam is the religion of peace and reject violence as an instrument of justification. This study also used the descriptive method to know about the principles and values of peace in Islam. The results of this study indicate that peace is the heart of religion that brings benefit to all mankind. The first, the movement of radicalism and terrorism was contradicted with religious doctrine and mission of the Prophet Muhammad in the improvement of morality of the people. The second, the jihad in Islam is a war too self defense (defense jihd) from any threat of the violence, not war frontally (ofensife jihd) without considering of humanity values. The third, the Medina Charter is one of the conflict resolution to build the spirit of peace and giving freedom to all groups to doing religious practices according to their respective beliefs. And the end, The Medina Charter became clear evidence of how the Prophet Muhammad has given full freedom to non-Muslims to coexistence with all the Muslims.

This paper aims to elaborate the therapy power of gratitude in the shaping of the altruistic personality. This research used a comparative study of quranic psychology and positive psychology as a reference to explain about therapy power of gratitude. This research used a psychological approach to reveal the influence of the grateful on the meaningfulness of life.The results showed grateful in quranic psychology is a form of recognition of the favors bestowed by God with the submission and obedience according to what has been commanded. Gratitude in quranic psychology can be practiced in the three ways, namely orally grateful, heart, and deed. Gratitude in positive psychology is an emotional positive reaction in response to the receipt of a gift and benefit from someone. Gratitude in this perspective can be practiced personally (be thankful to the people who has given a gift) and transpersonal (expression of gratitude to God who has given many gifts in this world). In quranic psychology, be grateful can be Sufi healing or therapy to cure individualistic attitude into the life of the society. In positive psychology perspective, becoming a thankful person tend to be more generous and humble, if compared with those who never grateful.

This study aims to explain the emergence of the Lia Eden community as a new religious movement in Indonesia. This study also revealed the motivation of people to join the Lia Eden community, which was mostly attended by urban and educated people. This study used qualitative methods to answer the psychological symptoms of the emergence of the Lia Eden community. This study uses a case study on one of the contemporary religious movements in Indonesia, namely the Lia Eden movement. This type of study is in the form of literature or library research by tracing various studies in the form of books, journals, and research reports that are directly related to the emergence of Lia Eden and people’s interest in this movement. The approach used in this research is social psychology and the rational choice theory. This research shows that the emergence of the Lia Eden community is due to the disappointment of the organized religion existence which is considered unable to overcome the modern humanity crisis. From the disappointment was culminated in the organized religion existence, the Lia Eden community influenced everyone to follow this community. They want to achieve peace, harmony, and to treat the spiritual crisis that plagued their lives

This research aims to reveal the indigenous wisdom of Madurese community in building harmony and peace. This research used a new paradigm in changing negative perseptions about Madurese through the implementasion of the expression “rampak naong bringen korong” in the life behavior. This research used a field study on the meaning of harmony that applied by the people of Pamekasan Madura in the expression “rampak naong bringen korong” as local wisdom values. This research showed that local wisdom values is reflected in the phrase known“rampak naong bringen korong” as one of the symbol in building harmony and peace with the others. The phrase “rampak naong bringin korong” is a meaningful philosophy of life, that Madura people are very fond of a harmonious, peaceful, and balance in all aspects of life. The philosophy of life reflected in the phrase becomes an anti-thesis and a denial to the stereotype of the Madurese character who is considered to be very close to violence. The form of implementation of harmony values in the expression “rampak naong bringin korong” is to invite the young generation to make life peaceful and harmonious as a symbol of unity and brotherhood.

This paper aims to explore the idea of the importance science ethics in the Islamic spirituality perspectives. This study used library research to determine the ethical dimension of Islamic science which is more concerned with the benefit of the people rather than the negative impact of the development of science and technology. By using the view of Islamic spirituality, the development of modern science should be guided by ethics and morals that represent esoteric wisdom as the heart of religion.This study shows that the ethics of science in the view of Islamic spirituality always emphasizes the dimensions of wisdom as reflected in the use of science without neglecting the most basic human values. The ethics of science contained in Islamic spirituality is a reflection of the esoteric dimension that encourages its people to be more sensitive to the future of nature which becomes the most beautiful representation of God's face. The ethical-esoteric dimension inherent in Islamic science is expected to be implemented by religious people to better appreciate the universe as God's creation.

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pola-pola konflik agama dan sosial di Indonesia. Pola konflik keagamaan bisa meliputi jenis konflik, frekuensi konflik, perkembangan dan persebaran konflik, isu penyebab konflik, pelaku, dan dampak dari konflik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologis untuk mengetahui dampak sosial dari munculnya konflik agama. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus kekerasan berbasis sektarian dan komunal yang terjadi di beberapa wilayah Indonesia. Teori yang dipakai untuk mengidentifikasi pola-pola konflik agama dan sosial adalah teori Louis Coser dan teori konflik etnis dari Jaques Jacques Bertrand. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Indonesia memiliki kapasitas untuk merespon isu-isu penyebab konflik keagamaan dalam bentuk aksi-aksi damai. Tugas kita adalah mendorong masyarakat untuk menjadikan aksi damai sebagai pilihan utama demi mencegah terjadinya konflik yang lebih besar. Isu-isu yang mendorong terjadinya konflik di berbagai daerah sangat bervariasi sehingga langkah-langkah penanganan kekerasan perlu didesain sesuai dengan variasi isu-isu konflik keagamaan yang mendominasi masing-masing wilayah. Hasil studi ini juga menunjukkan bahwa isu konflik keagamaan yang dihadapi masing-masing rezim pemerintahan berbeda. Pada rezim orde baru, isu komunal menjadi isu yang paling dominan terjadi. Sementara pada era reformasi lebih banyak menghadapi konflik keagamaan terkait isu sektarian.

This article reveals Jodangan ritual performed annually as a representation of gratitude to Allah for his mercy in giving harvest that spread prosperity to the community around Cerme Cave. The history of Cerme Cave is well known as the heritage of phenomenal Islam civilization. Cerme Cave as a historical trace is made a religious tourism for Bantul and its surrounding community. This research found that Jodangan ritual could improve community’s religiosity consciousness as a commitment of loyalty to The Almighty God. Religiosity consciousness in the society has a really important role in affecting mind and behavior to perform religious command sincerely. Tulisan ini berusaha mengungkap ritual Jodangan yang dilaksanakan setiap tahun sebagai tanda syukur kehadirat Allah yang memberikan rezeki dari hasil bumi sehingga memberikan kemakmuran dan kesejahteraan bagi masyarakat di sekitar Goa Cerme. Sejarah Goa Cerme yang dikenal masyarakat sebagai warisan peradaban Islam yang sangat fenomenal, pada saat bersamaan dihelat sebuah ritual keagamaan yang dikenal dengan upacara Jodangan. Peneliti tertarik mengetahui lebih mendalam Goa Cerme sebagai tempat wisata religius bagi masyarakat Bantul dan sekitarnya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pelaksanaan ritual Jodangan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran religiusitas (religiousity consciousness) masyarakat sebagai bentuk komitmen ketaatan dan kepatuhan terhadap Tuhan Yang Maha Esa. Kesadaran religiusitas dalam realitas sosial memang berperan penting dalam mempengaruhi pikiran dan perbuatan untuk melaksanakan perintah agama dengan penuh keikhlasan.

Corruption is an extraordinary crime in Indonesia that is contrary to the values of religious education. This study aims to explore anti-corruption education models based on religious ethics which are implemented in the pesantren of Annuqayah, Guluk-Guluk Sumenep. This study analyzes the roles of the pesantren of Annuqayah in building anti-corruption characters in students from an early age. The research was conducted at the pesantren of Annuqayah which is one of the oldest Islamic boarding schools in Madura. The study uses a qualitative method to elaborate anti-corruption education models based on religious ethics at the pesantren of Annuqayah, Guluk-Guluk Sumenep, Madura. Researchers used observation, interviews, and documentation in collecting research data. The study found that the anti-corruption education models applied in the pesantren of Annuqayah are role models, habituation of behavior, integration between subjects and behavior, and models of rewards and punishments. Meanwhile, the roles of Annuqayah pesantren in shaping the students’ anti-corruption character are building values of Aswaja (Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah), establishing an honest canteen, giving trust to manage pesantren finances, and providing rewards and punishments. The research is valuable as feedback for the government in the field of education in its efforts to fight corruption in Indonesia.
