Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the involvement of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta community in developing the dynamic intellectual in this globalization era with the role of the main library in acquiring, storing, and disseminating the local university intellectual wealth to the end user in a fast, timely and efficient way. Inevitably, that UIN Jakarta and its structural and non-structural organizations have reliable potential to participate in development of the knowledge production in national, region and global level. Unfortunately, our institution has very weak tradition in documenting the intellectual wealth produced by UIN Jakarta local community. Although the responsibility of the intellectual wealth preservation in UIN Jakarta must involve all university units and organizations, yet, the role of the main library must be more active and dynamic than the other UIN Jakarta units and organizations. This article is based on the research project conducted by the writer in 2007. There are at least three issues discussed in this article. The first issue discusses the introduction of general concept on grey literatures and its development, role and function in educational institutions. The second issue discusses the contribution of UIN Jakarta organizations (both structural and non-structural) in development of grey literature collection. Finally it discusses some barriers faced by the UIN Jakarta main library in preserving, especially, the local UIN Jakarta intellectual wealth. As a conclusion of this article discussed some suggestions for improvement of the intellectual deposit program coordinated by the UIN Jakarta main library. Key words: Intellectual deposit program, Grey Literature, local intellectual wealth.

Abstract

Though recently experiencing the difficult political conditions, Iraqi's government consistently puts emphasis on improving its national education. This attitude is reflected, for example, from its grants in the funding scholarship programs for the people both in Iraq and abroad. Moreover, the government also grants scholarships for non-Iraqi citizens, including Indonesians, in the country's universities.

Abstract

The study of museums in almost all leading universities in Indonesia continues to develop from time to time. This research aims to explore the arguments of the campus community about the founding factors and their opinions about the presence and roles of university museums. The Airlangga University History and Culture Museum and the UGM Mandala Majapahit Museum are the main references for this research. A phenomenological approach with in-depth interviews, observations and relevant literature studies is used in this study. Research findings reveal that several factors of the university museums presence are due to the initiatives from university leaders. University museums serve as historical reminders, fulfill educational and research needs, and instill the identity of campus communities. In relation to the role of university museums, the campus community believes that its role is similar to libraries in supporting learning and research activities and even as community service. Considering the importance of university museums, both university leaders and the education ministry authorities are required to provide optimal support, especially by providing official regulations to support the function of museums as part of information institutions at universities.

Abstract

The Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education always encourages lecturers to publish their scientific works in open access publications. This study explores the meaning of open access publications from the experiences of UIN lecturers. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to identify the interpretation and meaning of lecturers on open access journal publications. This study found that lecturers know about publishing in open access journals and their advantages. They choose reputable journals in their scientific field as their first reference because the journals that fall into this category have a high level of readability and citation. However, the informants stated that they were also pragmatic; they will reconsider the decision to publish in a reputable and open access journal if the publication fee is deemed too expensive. This study uses Hall's meanings concept, whose application is not only to explore the views of lecturers on open access publications but also to explore the actions they take so that their writings can be included in open access publications. Here, the researcher finds the emerging theme that is the importance of collaboration. It is as a way to overcome barriers to open access publishing and also as the key to the productivity of writing articles in academic journals. This study highlights several important themes related to collaboration. The integration of Islamic knowledge with scientific disciplines is an interesting issue when discussing the benefits of cooperation. The results of this study can provide insight into the meaning of open access journals published by lecturers and how they overcome the barriers in this matter. The researcher suggests using a quantitative approach based on our data for future research.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the alumni engagement program in order to improve the academic quality of the study program. This study uses an exploratory method with a qualitative approach.. Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with alumni and interviews with the head of the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, were used to collect data. Data analysis was carried out in stages, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The findings revealed that alumni of the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, were involved in a variety of academic and non-academic programs, which were carried out by fellow alumni, active students, and those working with study programs. These initiatives allow alumni to stay connected to their alma mater. However, numerous programs did not run as anticipated, and other activities were unsustainable. This is because program implementation requires collaboration. As a result, the alumni involvement program in increasing the quality of the Library Science Study Program at UIN Jakarta has not been fully utilized.

Abstract

The Multatuli Museum plays a crucial role in serving public demand for high-quality services, as it supports lifelong learning and offers valuable recreational experiences. This study explores the impact of service quality on visitor satisfaction at the Multatuli Museum in Rangkasbitung. A total of 363 participants were included in the sample, selected through purposive sampling with a minimum age of 17. Respondents represented a broad visitor base, including individuals from Rangkasbitung and other areas who had experienced the full range of the museum's facilities and services. The findings show that the quality of services provided by the museum is rated 'very high,' with a score of 3.44, falling within the 3.25–4.00 range. Similarly, satisfaction with these services was categorized as 'outstanding,' scoring 3.42, also within the 3.25–4.00 interval. The analysis further indicates that the quality of services exerts a substantial influence on visitor satisfaction, contributing to 45.4% of the overall satisfaction score. This significant impact underscores the museum's strong potential to deliver high-caliber visitor experiences and demonstrates a solid foundation for continued excellence. To ensure sustained quality and visitor satisfaction, it is essential that the Multatuli Museum, along with the Lebak Regency Culture and Tourism Office, take ongoing, concrete steps to support and enhance the museum's service offerings. By prioritizing service quality and addressing visitors' evolving needs, the Multatuli Museum reinforces its position as an essential educational and cultural hub, promoting learning and enjoyment.

Abstract

Women have become a significant focus in the implementation of Islamic Sharia in Aceh in recent years. This paper examines the development of research on women in relation to Islamic Sharia in Aceh and maps the bibliometric relationships among articles published in Google Scholar-indexed journals from 2007 to 2023. Utilizing a quantitative method with a bibliometric approach, data was collected through a literature search using Harzing's Publish or Perish application. The analysis was conducted using the Vosviewer application, which visualizes network, overlay, and publication density aspects. The findings indicate a decline in studies on women and Islamic law by the end of 2023, with the peak publication year being 2022, which saw five articles, while only one article was published in 2023. From 2007 to 2023, a total of 22 research articles were identified, accumulating 232 citations. The most cited author during this period is Muhammad Ansor, with three articles and 93 citations. The Al-Jami'ah Journal and Analisa Journal were the leading publishers on this topic. The bibliometric relationship map revealed 163 items grouped into ten clusters, covering topics such as sharia regulations on Muslim dress, gambling, women's participation, and human rights up to 2012. In contrast, discussions from 2012 to 2022 shifted towards domestic violence, sexual violence, and protection. While subjects like sharia regulation and Muslim dress have been extensively researched, areas such as protection, human rights, and women's involvement remain underexplored.

Abstract

As a pioneer of university museums among state Islamic universities in Indonesia, the UIN Malang and UIN Banda Aceh museums play a vital role as role models for other UINs in managing and empowering university museums as important units in higher education institutions. The purpose of this study is to discuss the UIN Malang and Banda Aceh museums in playing a role as preservation institutions of cultural heritage and a learning laboratory in organizing learning activities for academics and the community outside the campus. By using a qualitative approach and case study method, data collection techniques are observation, in-depth interviews with museum managers and academics. Data analysis is carried out by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The findings of the study show that the academics and the community engagement is not as an object in preserving the cultural heritage of Islam and Indonesia. Academics, community leaders and community groups jointly play an active role in carrying out conservation activities. The same thing is also done by museum managers by involving academics and the community to discuss the implementation of educational activities that are needed by themselves such as exhibitions, training, workshops, and seminars. This study confirms the importance of university museums and can form a creative and innovative academic culture among academicians and community.
