Abstract

Flying fish Cypselurus poecilopterus is a small pelagic fish resource that plays an important ecological and economic role. However, information regarding the structure of its stock in East Indonesian waters is still limited. This study aims to identify stock structure based on morphometric, meristic approaches, and associated with environmental factors. Fish samples were taken during one fishing season (June-September) in 2015 and 2021 in the waters of West Papua and East Seram where the Lydakker line passes, using the method of observation and purposive sampling, then the data were analyzed descriptively and t-test. The results of observations on 23 morphometric characters and 5 meristic features showed a significant difference, so it is estimated that flying fish stocks are composed of 2 sub-populations. Differences in morphometric and meristic parameters are affected by different environmental conditions in the two waters. This information is expected to be useful for the management and sustainable use of flying fish resources.

Abstract

Tuna sirip kuning (Thunnus albacares Bonnaterre, 1788), Fam Scombridae, merupakan salah satu hasil tangkapan yang cukup tinggi bagi perikanan skala kecil di Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Prigi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan panjang-bobot dan faktor kondisi tuna sirip kuning untuk melengkapi informasi biologi yang diharapkan dapat mendukung pengelolaan perikanan tuna sirip kuning secara bertanggung jawab. Sampel tuna sirip kuning diperoleh dari Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Prigi, Jawa Timur, pada bulan Januari hingga Desember 2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebaran panjang berkisar antara 21 – 172 cmFL dan bobot berkisar antara 0,15 – 73 kg. Hubungan panjang dan bobot diperoleh persamaan W = 3x10-5FL2,835 mengindikasikan pola pertumbuhan bersifat alometrik negatif. Faktor kondisi relatif bervariasi menurut ukuran kelas panjang dimana faktor kondisi ikan juvenil cenderung lebih tinggi dibandingkan ikan dewasa. Faktor kondisi juga bervariasi secara bulanan atau musiman dimana nilainya cenderung meningkat pada bulan September hingga mencapai puncaknya pada Oktober atau bertepatan dengan musim peralihan II.Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares Bonnaterre, 1788), Fam Scombridae, is one of the high catches for small-scale fisheries at the Prigi Fishing Port. The objectives of this research are to investigate the relationship of length-weight, Growth pattern and condition factors of yellowfin tuna which are expected to complete basic information to support the management of yellowfin tuna fisheries in a responsible manner. Yellowfin Data collection were obtained from Prigi Fishery Port, East Java from January to December 2018. The measurements showed that the length of ranged from 21-172 and weight ranged from 0.2 - 73 kg. Analysis of length-weight relationships was W = 3x10-5FL2,835 indicating that the growth pattern is negative allometric. Relative condition factors vary according to length class size where the condition factor for juvenile fish tends to be higher than that of adult fish. The condition factor also varies on a monthly or seasonal basis where the value tends to increase in September until it reaches its peak in October or coincides with the transition season II.

Abstract

Ikan layang merupakan komoditas ekonomis penting dari famili Carangidae yang banyak tertangkap di perairan Bali Selatan. Otolith ikan dimanfaatkan secara luas untuk mengaji taksonomi, pertumbuhan, umur dan kekerabatan populasi ikan dari perairan yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara morfometrik otolith dan ukuran ikan layang serta ciri-ciri morfologi otolith. Sampel dikumpulkan dari Pangkalan Pendaratan Ikan (PPI) Kedonganan dan Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) Pengambengan, Bali Selatan antara 7 Maret s/d 5 April 2020. Sampel ikan layang deles diambil secara acak (random sampling) dari hasil tangkapan pukat cincin yang beroperasi secara harian. Pengambilan sagittae dilakukan dengan cara “up through the gill”. Secara keseluruhan digunakan 83 pasang sampel otolith sagittae utuh yang berhasil diambil dari bagian kepala ikan layang deles. Hubungan morfometrik otolith dan ukuran ikan dianalisis menggunakan persamaan regresi linear y= ax + b. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara morfometri otolith kiri dan kanan. Ukuran otolith memiliki korelasi isometrik dengan pertumbuhan ikan, dalam arti panjang otolith (OL) menjadi indikator terbaik untuk mengestimasi ukuran individu ikan layang Decapterus macrosoma.Shortfin scad (Decapterus macrosoma) is an important economic commodity from the Carangidae family which is mostly caught in South Bali waters. Fish otoliths are widely used to assess the taxonomy, growth, age, and relationships of fish populations from different waters. This study aims to determine the relationship between otolith morphometrics and the size of the flying fish as well as the morphological characteristics of the otoliths. Samples were collected from the Kedonganan Fish Landing Base (PPI) and Pengambengan Archipelago Fishery Port (PPN), South Bali between March 7 to April 5, 2020. The deles fly fish sample was taken randomly (random sampling) from the catch of ring trawlers that operate in an automated manner. Daily. Sagittae collection is done by "up through the gill". Overall, 83 pairs of intact otolith sagittae samples were used which were successfully taken from the head of the deles flying fish. Otolith morphometric relationships and fish size were analyzed using the linear regression equation y = ax + b. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the morphometry of the left and right otoliths. Otolith size has an isometric correlation with fish growth, in the sense that otolith length (OL) is the best indicator to estimate the individual size of Decapterus macrosoma flying fish.

Abstract

Hiu mako sirip pendek (Isurus oxyrinchus) termasuk kedalam Famili Lamnidae dan banyak dieksploitasi sehingga telah dimasukkan ke dalam daftar merah IUCN serta Apendiks II CITES sejak 2019. Penangkapan dan perdagangannya perlu dipantau secara global untuk menghindari kepunahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji laju tangkap, kelimpahan, dan estimasi ukuran hiu mako yang tertangkap perikanan rawai tuna. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menempatkan tenaga observer ilmiah diatas kapal penangkap ikan yang berbasis di empat pelabuhan utama rawai tuna pada rentang waktu tahun 2015 hingga 2019. Bobot tubuh ikan diestimasi dari ukuran panjang cagaknya berdasarkan persamaan hubungan panjang dan bobot dari penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian mengungkap bahwa terjadi peningkatan upaya rawai tuna seiring dengan peningkatan cakupan sampling. Laju tangkap mencapai puncaknya pada tahun 2017 (0,2 ekor/1000 pancing), kemudian mengalami penurunan seiring dengan peningkatan upaya penangkapan. Secara spasial, hiu mako tersebar di wilayah perairan tropis dan subtropis, khususnya kurang dari 10o Lintang Selatan. Pertumbuhan hiu mako bersifat isometrik dengan ukuran panjang cagak berkisar antara 50-211 cm. Rata-rata ukuran hiu yang tertangkap cenderung semakin besar dari tahun ke tahun sehingga dimungkinkan memiliki implikasi pada upaya pengelolaan dan konservasinya jenis yang terancam punah ini.Shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) belongs to the Family Lamnidae and is widely exploited so it has been included in the IUCN red list as well as Appendix II CITES since 2019. Hence, its capture and trade need to be monitored globally to avoid extinction. This study aimed to investigate the catch rate, abundance, and size estimation of the shortfin mako shark caught by tuna longline. Data collection was conducted through the on-board scientific observer program on the fishing vessel at four main tuna longline ports during the period of 2015 to 2019. The whole-body weight was estimated by its length and weight relationship revealed from previous studies. The results showed that there was an increase in fishing efforts along with an increased sampling coverage. The catch rates peaked in 2017 (0.2 fish/1000 hooks), then, it decreased due to increased fishing efforts. Shortfin mako sharks were distributed spatially in both tropic and subtropic waters, mostly caught in area below than 10-degree South. An isometric growth was identified with the length size ranged between 50-211 cm. The average size of harvested fish tends to rise every year that may have implications to the establishment of management and conservation strategies for the endangered species.
