Abstract

A deaf person is someone who has lost the ability to hear so that it hinders the process of language information through his listeners. In Indonesia, most of the population is Muslim and has more than 13,000 people with hearing impairments. In carrying out congregational prayers, it is difficult for the deaf to follow the instructions of the priest's movement. This study aims to make prayer aids technology for the Deaf is to assist in performing congregational prayers. The method used in this tool is to provide notifications in the form of different vibrations at every change in the priest's movement to the Deaf community. The device control system uses Arduino nano FT232RL FTDI FT232. The communication module uses HC-12 SI4463, with 433.4 – 473.0 MHz wireless frequency. The MPU6050 gyroscope sensor is employed for detecting changes in angle or motion, and a micro vibrator motor is used as a vibration indicator. Based on the conducted test, the designed Bracelet performed excellent results. It runs according to its working principle where the Bracelet used by the Imam will send a code, and the code is in the form of a change in the angle to the Bracelet used by the Deaf community in the form of vibration, the vibration at each prayer change will be different. Different vibration notifications on each Shalat movement can help the Deaf know the Imam's movement instructions.Furthermore, the prayer aids technology for the Deaf has a success rate of 89%. Thus, this tool can help the Deaf to perform congregational prayers.

Abstract

Abstract

Background this prototype is intended for post-stroke patients experiencing disabilities in their daily activities, particularly in communication with others. The challenge they face is difficulty in communication, leading to a diminished quality of life for post-stroke patients. The purpose of innovating this communication aid prototype is to facilitate communication between post-stroke patients and caregivers. The method employed in the post-stroke communication aid prototype utilizes Electrooculography (EOG) signals generated from eye muscle movements during eye gazes, captured by the MaM Sense sensor. The variation in Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) values in the MaM Sense sensor is exploited to produce various forms of EOG signals. The resultant command signals from this method are processed by a microcontroller and displayed on a 20 x 4 Character LCD. Testing was conducted on 9 healthy individuals, comprising 5 males and 4 females. To ensure the prototype's functionality, testing was also performed on 1 post-stroke patient. The success rate of MaM Sense sensor readings was 80.5% for the 4 communication modes employed, involving 4 eye gaze movements: right gaze, left gaze, upward gaze, and downward gaze. Thus, the post-stroke communication aid prototype proves effective in assisting communication for post-stroke patients and aiding caregivers in understanding the patients' desires. In the future, a wireless system may be implemented for the acquisition of EOG signals attached to the face to minimize the use of cables.

Abstract

The majority of Indonesia's population is Muslim, including more than 13,000 people with hearing impairments. In carrying out congregational prayers, the Deaf find it difficult to follow the instructions of the Imam's movement. The presence of hearing aids cannot be used by all persons with hearing impairments, and hearing aids often cause a buzzing sound, thus disturbing concentration. Therefore, in this study, a gyroscope bracelet will be made to assist people with hearing impairments in following the instructions of the Imam's movement when carrying out congregational prayers. The bracelet worn by the Imam will send a code in the form of a change in angle to the bracelet used by the Deaf congregation. The Z angle is a vertical angle in the gyroscope where the Z angle has an angular velocity of 360 degrees per second. The control system uses Arduino nano FT232RL FTDI FT232. The communication module uses HC-12 SI4463, with a wireless frequency of 433.4 - 473.0 MHz. The sensor for detecting changes in motion is the MPU6050 gyroscope sensor, the vibration indicator uses a micro vibrator motor. The bracelet used by the deaf will read the code from the Imam's device, with a notification in the form of a different vibration on every change in prayer movement. After experimenting with 30 people, the percentage of success was 84% for all prayer positions. Thus, the gyroscope bracelet tool for prayer guides for the Deaf can help the Deaf community in carrying out congregational prayers.
