Abstract

Abstract

The Implementation of pregnancy exercises can contribute positively to the opening of the cervix, coordinated uterine activity during labor, and significantly found an earlier on-set of labor and a shorter duration of labor. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between pregnancy exercise and the length of the second stage of labor in both primi and multigravida at the Polindes, Jrebeng Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency. This research is an observational analytical study with a cross sectional approach. The population is all mothers giving birth at the Polindes, Jrebeng Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency. From May to July 2023, there were 57 mothers giving birth. The sample size was 50 mothers giving birth. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The research will be carried out from May to July 2023. Data collection instruments used questionnaires, observation and partographs. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between pregnancy exercise and the length of the second stage of labor in both primi and multigravida [Chi-Square Test results in primigravida ( count (7.3) > table (3.84)); whereas in multigravida ( count (6.31) > table (3.84))]. This can happen because the implementation of pregnancy exercises in both primi and multigravida can contribute positively to the opening of the cervix and coordinated uterine activity during labor, and significantly found an earlier on-set of labor and shorter labor duration. Conclusion: implementing pregnancy exercises can shorten the length of the second stage of labor.

Abstract

The accuracy of providing complementary feeding contributes to one of the efforts to fulfill parenting patterns, especially for infants, so that optimal growth and development are achieved. This achievement cannot be separated from the characteristics of the mother, such as age, parity, education, occupation, and knowledge of complementary feeding. This study aims to determine the characteristics of mothers based on the accuracy of providing complementary feeding to infants aged 6–12 months at TPMB Fitri Anggraini, Pulau Baru Village, East Oku Regency, South Sumatra Province. This study is a descriptive study. The study population was all mothers who had infants aged 6–12 months at TPMB Fitri Anggraini, Pulau Baru Village, East Oku Regency, South Sumatra Province, totaling 58 mothers. The sample size was 53 mothers, with the Purposive Sampling technique. Independent variables include maternal characteristics (age, parity, education, occupation, whether or not they have received information and knowledge) and the accuracy of providing complementary feeding. The location of the study was carried out at TPMB Fitri Anggraini, Pulau Baru Village, East Oku Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research time was in November 2024. Data collection using a questionnaire, and the data was presented as a percentage. The results of the study showed that from a total of 53 respondents, based on the appropriateness of providing MP_ASI to infants aged 6-12 months, the most data findings were with maternal characteristics (age 26-35 years as many as 21 (39.6%), College Education as many as 19 (35.9%), Self-employed work as many as 25 (47.2%), Primiparous parity as many as 21 (39.6%), Good knowledge as many as 29 (54.7%). A mother has an important role in the appropriateness of providing MP-ASI according to the baby's age, this can have an impact on the health and growth and development of the baby; where the characteristics of the mother include: age, parity, occupation, education, knowledge and other factors can contribute to the appropriateness of providing MP-ASI to infants aged 6-12 months; as one of the efforts to optimize their growth and development.

Abstract

This research examined systematic errors in pseudo-complement clauses and extraposition. The errors included subject-raising issues, verb-complement mismapping, nominalization drift, and filler-gap confusion. These were found in the English writing of Indonesian elementary school students in Medan, North Sumatra and Manado, North Sulawesi. The research used a cognitive syntax framework and applied a qualitative multiple-case study design. Data were collected through free-writing prompts. The findings revealed frequent clause misformations. Common patterns included overuse of “It is + Verb + That/To” constructions, blending of that/to clauses, mislearned subject raising, and poor control of nonfinite clauses. These errors reflected deeper cognitive struggles. Students had difficulty managing clause control, syntactic focus, and verb-complement alignment. The issues were partly influenced by L1 transfer and rote use of lexical chunks. Many students tried to express abstract ideas without sufficient syntactic mastery. These were not isolated mistakes, but signs of developing syntactic representation. The research emphasized the need for clause-based instruction. Such instruction can support both conceptual understanding and grammatical development. The implications for early writing pedagogy and future developmental studies in bilingual contexts were also discussed

Abstract

This study redefined English listening comprehension in the Indonesian EFL context by analyzing the interpretive challenges posed by ellipsis repair, boundary overrun, and disfluent clause markers features that were often overlooked in pedagogical models. Ellipsis repair referred to a listener’s attempt to reconstruct omitted elements in spontaneous speech, often caused by speakers backtracking or self-correcting mid-utterance. Boundary overrun described a speaker’s tendency to extend or blur syntactic units across intonation or clause boundaries, which made real-time parsing difficult. Disfluent clause markers included fillers, false starts, and hesitations that interrupted clause structure and challenged linear meaning construction. Conducted at three private universities in Indonesia located on Medan (North Sumatra), Manado (North Sulawesi), and Makassar (South Sulawesi), the research involved pre-intermediate-level students who engaged with authentic spoken English data. Using a qualitative discourse-based approach, the study examined comprehension breakdowns through think-aloud protocols and clause-level analysis. Findings revealed that listener difficulties were not incidental but structurally rooted in disrupted syntax and prosody. These disruptions challenged students’ ability to construct coherent meaning in real time. The study highlighted the need for instructional models that developed interpretive resilience, not just lexical decoding. It called for a shift toward listening pedagogies attuned to spontaneous speech, structural ambiguity, and repair negotiation. The findings offered implications for EFL curriculum design, assessment development, and real-world communication training across Indonesian educational contexts.
