Abstract

This Research Objectives was to find out whether media music video can improve students competence in writing skill. Utilizing of music video as media in learning can help students shape an active mind, curious, and independent by strengthening confidence, ability expression and creativity. To analyze the data, A Pre-Experimental design was employed. It involves at class X-2 of SMAN 7 Enrekang Kabupaten Enrekang. Data were obtained through pre-test and posttest. Data analyze by using t-test. The findings showed that there was significant difference on the students’ competence in writing skill through media music video. The students mean score of pre-test experiment class was 56.36. Then in the post-test, the mean score of experiment class was 70.24. In other words, media music video can improve students’ competence in writing skill.

Abstract

This This research aimed at finding out whether or not the use of Video Clip and Hortatory Exposition Text effective in improving student’s pronunciation and student’s vocabulary. The researcher used an experimental research. The research had conducted a treatment, where the class consisted of six meetings. The location of this research was done at the second grade students of SMA N 22 Makassar with 30 students and stand by one class using individual test in pre-test, treatments and post-test design.The research instrument was an oral presentation as a pre-test and posttest. In pre-test the students presented their argument after they watched the video clip that given by cell phone and they were explained based on the structural of hortatory exposition text. The findings indicated that the use of video clip as media in the teaching speaking to deliver hortatory exposition text was effective in term of pronunciation and vocabulary. It is provided by the pre-test is (59, 75) and compare to the mean score of post-test is 72, 84 and the percentages of the improvement is 21, 90

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate students’ perception on the use of preaching method and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) media in teaching English at seventh semester students English Department Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This study applied a descriptive qualitative study. The data gained through open-ended interview and process with question interview that was present in paper, data reduction, and coding technique. The data was gained from seventh semester students at English Department Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. Based on the findings, it finds that students gave the positive perception toward the use of preaching method and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Media in teaching English to measure the effectiveness of the method and the media to support their English skills or knowledge. Moreover, the students claimed that they have many advantages during the implementation of preaching method and CALL media. This study also found that this strategy was needed to be improved by the lecturers in terms of giving instruction, observing the class and evaluating the implementation of preaching method and CALL media in English class

Abstract

The research aims to find out the application of Wind Blows Game to develop students’ vocabulary at the eighth grade in MTs Ma’arif Bolaromang. This research was conducted in a pre-experimental using a quantitative approach. To collect the data from the students, the researcher was use test (vocabulary test). The sample was selected by using total sampling because the researcher took one class at the eighth grade in MTs Ma’arif Bolaromang. The sample in this research was 20 students. The research found that there was a significant difference between students' pre-test and post-test scores. The students' mean score before treatment was 47.75, but it improved to 78.75 after applying Wind Blows Game. While the students' mean score in the term of verb before treatment was 52, it improved to 76 after treatment. It's the same with the students' mean score in the term of noun, which was 43.5 before treatment and 81.5 after applied Wind Blows Game. Furthermore, t-test analysis showed that t-test value was bigger than t-table, indicating that students' vocabulary totally (12.03>1.729), verb (6.99>1.729), and noun (10.57>1.729) were all higher than t-table. As a result, the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted as the research hypothesis. It shows that Wind Blows Game was successful in developing students' verb and noun vocabulary
