Abstract

The aim of this research is to increase the source of animal protein from pork, requiring continuous availability of animal feed, providing opportunities for utilizing market vegetable waste. There is a large amount of this waste every day and much of it has not been utilized and even tends to cause environmental pollution. This research used an experimental method, with a randomized block design consisting of 4 treatments with 3 replications so that there were 12 experimental units. Treatment consisted of R0: Basal ration without the use of fermented cabbage waste flour (FCWF) R1: 95% RB + 5% FCWF, R2: 90% RB + 10% FCWC, R3: 85% RB + 15% FCWF. The parameters measured were ration and crude protein consumption, body weight gain and ration conversion. The results of the analysis showed that the treatment had no significant effect (P>0.05) on ration consumption, protein consumption, body weight gain and ration conversion. Based on the results of this research, it was concluded that the level of adding cabbage flour with a percentage of 5%, 10%, 15% gave a relatively similar response.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to test the addition of fructose (F) in egg yolk citrate diluent (C-EY) on the quality of liquid semen from Landrace pigs during storage. This research used a completely randomized design method consisting of five treatments and five replications. The treatments in question are P0 (0%F), P1 (0.5%F), P2 (1.0%F), P3 (1.5%F) and P4 (2.0%F). The diluted cement is stored at a temperature of 18-20oC. Evaluation of the motility, viability, abnormalities and survival of spermatozoa is carried out every twelve hours. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) of data using SPSS. 25 for windows. The results showed P3 at 12 hours (80.00 ± 0.00%), 24 hours (74.00 ± 2.24%), 36 hours (62.00 ± 2.74%), 48 hours (41.00 ±2.24%) and spermatozoa were able to survive 48 hours of storage. P3 gave the best results (P<0.05) compared to other treatments with motility values of 41.00 ± 2.24%, viability 45.20 ± 1.64%, abnormalities 8.20 ± 1.10% and survival 51.20±3.05 hours. It was concluded that the addition of 1.5% fructose level in the egg yolk citrate diluent could maintain the quality of liquid semen longer than other treatments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui dampak dari penambahan sari buah melon (SBM) dalam pengencer Tris-kuning telur (T-KT) terhadap kualitas spermatozoa babi duroc. Semen segar ditampung dari dua ekor pejantan babi duroc berumur 2 tahun dan dalam kondisi sehat. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan enam perlakuan dan lima ulangan yang terdiri atas P0 = T-KT 100%, P1 = T-KT 90% + SBM 10%, P2 = T-KT 80% + SBM 20%, P3 = T-KT 70% + SBM 30%, P4 = T-KT 60% + SBM 40%, P5 = T-KT 50% + SBM 50%. Semen segar yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini memenuhi standar dengan motilitas 76,20% dan abnormalitas 3,60%. Semen yang telah diencerkan kemudian dibagi ke dalam tabung eppendorf lalu disimpan dalam kotak pendingin dengan suhu 18-20°C dan diamati setiap 12 jam hingga persentase motilitas spermatozoa menurun hingga 40%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P3 mampu mempertahankan kualitas spermatozoa yang lebih tinggi dibanding lima perlakuan lainnya (P kecil dari 0,05) sejak jam ke-12 hingga jam ke-60 penyimpanan; kecuali pada parameter abnormalitas menunjukkan hasil yang tidak berbeda nyata antar perlakuan (P besar dari 0,05). Kualitas spermatozoa babi duroc hingga jam ke-48 penyimpanan pada perlakuan P3 adalah: motilitas 49,40%, viabilitas 59,16%, abnormalitas 5,41%, serta daya tahan hidup 58,71 jam. Kesimpulannya adalah dengan menambahkan sari buah melon dalam pengencer Tris – kuning telur efektif untuk menjaga kualitas spermatozoa babi duroc, dengan level sari buah melon yang terbaik adalah 30%.
