Abstract

Tujuan studi ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh ditambahkannya sari buah jambu biji merah (SBJBM) di pengencer tris kuning telur (TKT) pada kualitas semen babi duroc. Memakai semen segar dengan motilitas spermatozoa 76±2,23%, viabilitas 91,41±4,23%, abnormalitas 3,42±0,55%, dan konsentrasi spermatozoa 263,40±18,20×106 sel/ml. Penelitian ini memakai Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) lima perlakuan lima kali ulangan yaitu: P0 = TKT 100%, P1 = TKT 100% + SBJBM 0,5% P2 = TKT 100% + SBJBM 1%, P3 = TKT 100% + SBJBM 1,5%, P4 = TKT 100%  + SBJBM 2%. Variabel yang diteliti adalah: motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup (DTH) spermatozoa. Analisis data meliputi analisis rata-rata, standar deviasi dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P1 dengan level 0,5% SBJBM dalam pengencer TKT mendapat mutu sperma lebih tinggi secara statistik (P kecil dari 0,05) di jam ke 36 penyimpanan dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya, dengan motilitas: 42,20±2,28%, viabilitas: 59,79±5,72%, abnormalitas: 4,52±0,39%, dan DTH spermatozoa: 38,40±2,60. Simpulan dari penelitian ini, penambahan SBJBM dengan tingkat 0,5% dalam pengencer TKT memberikan respon yang baik dalam menjaga motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa babi duroc.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding papaya leaf juice added to egg yolk citrate diluting medium (S-KT) to assess its effect on the quality of boar sperm from crosses between landrace and duroc breeds. Fresh semen from boar aged 1.5 who were in good health and had received training in semen collection methods was used in the study. Six treatments and five repetitions were employed in an experimental setting as part of a completely random research design, namely: egg yolk citrate without papaya leaf juice (P0), egg yolk citrate + 0.5% papaya leaf juice (P1), egg yolk citrate + 1% papaya leaf juice (P2), egg yolk citrate + 1.5% papaya leaf juice (P3), egg yolk citrate + 2% papaya leaf juice (P4),  egg yolk citrate + 2.5% papaya leaf juice. All treatments are stored in a coolbox with a temperature of 15-20ºC. Every twelve hours, the spermatozoa's mobility, survival, form, and ability to migrate were assessed. With a motility of 53.00±2.73%, viability of 67.70±1.4%, abnormality of 6.00±0.70%, and survival of 54.60 hours (P<0.05), the P5 treatment with the addition of papaya leaf juice up to 2.5% produced the best outcomes at 48 hours of storage. In comparison to previous treatments, it can be said that adding 2.5% papaya leaf juice to the S-KT dilution medium improved the quality of the liquid semen produced by Landrace and Duroc cross boar

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the level of lemongrass leaf extract added to Tris-egg yolk diluent to ensure that the spermatozoa quality of landrace x duroc crossbred boars is maintained during storage. In this study, fresh semen was used from 1.5 yearsold landrace x duroc crossbred boars that were in healthy condition and had been trained to collect semen. To conduct this research, completely randomized design was used, consisting of six treatments and five replications, namely: T0= Tris-egg yolk, T1= Tris-egg yolk + lemongrass leaf extract 0,5%, T2= Tris-egg yolk + lemongrass leaf extract 1,0%, T3= Tris-egg yolk + lemongrass leaf extract 1,5%, T4= Tris-egg yolk + lemongrass leaf extract 2,0%, T5= Tris-egg yolk + lemongrass leaf extract 2,5%. After dilution, the semen was stored in a styrofoam box at a temperature of 18-20°C. Four variables were tested: motility, viability, abnormality, and sperm survival. These variables were analyzed using a variability test and Duncan's analysis. The findings revealed that the spermatozoa quality of treatment P2 at the 60th hour of observation displayed a notable distinction. (P<0.05) from other treatments. The motility value was 54.00%, the viability was 64.10%, the abnormality was 5.70%, and the sperm survival was 67.68 hours. This study found that adding lemongrass leaf extract to Tris-egg yolk diluent at a level of 1.0% improved the quality of landrace x duroc crossbred boars spermatozoa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh penambahan level sari buah anggur (SBA) dalam pengencer Sitrat-kuning telur (S-KT) guna mempertahankan kualitas spermatozoa babi persilangan landrace x duroc selama penyimpanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan semen segar yang berasal dari seekor babi persilangan landrace x duroc yang berumur 1,5 tahun dalam kondisi yang sehat dan sudah terlatih dalam penampungan semen. Penelitian ini dirancang menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari lima perlakuan dan lima ulangan yakni: P0 = S-KT, P1: S-KT + SBA 3%, P2: S-KT + SBA 6%, P3: S-KT + SBA 9%, P4: S-KT + SBA 12%. Semen yang telah diencerkan disimpan dalam styrofom box pada suhu 18-20oC.Variabel yang diuji meliputi: motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan Analisis of Variance dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P3 pada jam pengamatan ke-60 menghasilkan kualitas spermatozoa dengan perbedaan nilai yang signifikan (P0,05) dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya dengan nilai motilitas: 57,00%, viabilitas: 66,50%, abnormalitas: 5,10%, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa: 56,28 jam. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penambahan sari buah anggur dengan level 9% dalam pengencer Sitrat-kuning telur memberikan respon yang terbaik dalam mempertahankan kualitas spermatozoa babi persilangan landrace x duroc.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh suplementasi air buah lontar dan sari tebu  ke dalam pengencer Bestville Thawing Solution (BTS) terhadap kualitas semen cair babi Duroc. Sampel semen dikoleksi dari dua ekor pejantan Duroc berusia 2–3 tahun menggunakan metode message dengan frekuensi dua kali dalam seminggu. Evaluasi kualitas semen dilakukan secara makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Hanya semen dengan motilitas awal di atas 70% yang digunakan, kemudian dibagi menjadi tiga perlakuan: P0 (BTS), P1 (BTS+AbL), dan P2 (BTS+ST), dengan konsentrasi sel minimal 234,9×10? sel/ml. Seluruh sampel disimpan dalam kotak Styrofoam pada suhu 18–20°C, dan pengamatan dilakukan setiap delapan jam. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), dan data dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan BTS+AbL memberikan hasil terbaik, meskipun tidak berbeda nyata secara statistik (P0,05) dibandingkan dua perlakuan lainnya, dengan motilitas akhir 35,00%, viabilitas 45,26%, membran plasma utuh 47,26%, dan daya tahan hidup mencapai 56 jam. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengencer BTS yang diperkaya dengan air buah lontar lebih efektif dalam mempertahankan kualitas semen selama penyimpanan.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between linear body measurements including chest girth (CG), body length (BL), and wither height (WH) and body weight (BW) in Rote sheep ewes across different age groups to determine the most reliable predictor of body weight. The research employed a quantitative method through direct field measurements and weighing. Data collected including vital statistics (CG, BL, WH) and BW from Rote sheep ewes categorized into three age groups (I0, I2, and I4). The data were analyzed statistically using correlation coefficient (r), the coefficient of determination (R²), and bias analysis to evaluate the accuracy of weight estimation. The results revealed that chest girth exhibited the highest correlation with body weight, particularly in the I0 group (r = 0.93; R² = 86.05%), indicating a strong positive relationship and high predictive accuracy. Body length showed a moderate relationship (r = 0.87; R² = 76.11%) in the same group, while wither height demonstrated a relatively weaker correlation (r = 0.73; R² = 53.94%). Across all age groups, the predictive strength of body measurements decreased with increasing age, suggesting that skeletal growth contributes less to body weight variation in mature sheep. In conclusion, chest girth was identified as the most accurate and reliable linear measurement for predicting body weight in Rote sheep ewes, particularly in younger age groups, and can therefore be used as a practical and non-invasive tool for estimating livestock weight.
