Abstract

The growth rate highly varies in nurseries of eel. Variations in size lead to competition in obtaining feed, this causes stunting of smaller fish. This situation leads to high production costs due to poor feed utilization efficiency. Grading needs to be done periodically to improve nursery production performance. Water quality is controlled by a recirculation system that can support production performance through the degradation of toxic compounds. This study aims to analyze the production and nursery performance of graded eel (Anguilla bicolor bicolor) that graded in the same batch in a recirculation system. Completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of three treatments with four replications was used in this research. The treatments included nursery of graded eels for 60 days in three groups of initial weight size, namely 0,35±0,00 g (A); 0,50±0,00 g (B); and 1,04±0,00 g (C). There were 344 eels (A), 239 eels (B), and 116 eels (C) in each replication. The best nursery production performance was obtained in the treatment of 1,04±0,00 g, and the best nursery business performance was obtained in the treatment of 0,50±0,00 g.

Abstract

Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is an important freshwater aquaculture commodity with strong development potential in Indonesia. Increasing market demand has encouraged farmers to improve production efficiency; however, several constraints remain, including aquaculture waste, low feed digestibility, and high feed costs. One approach that has been widely explored is the use of commercial probiotics as feed additives to improve nutrient utilization and overall fish performance. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different commercial probiotics applied in feed on the growth performance and survival of Nile tilapia fry. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments and three replications: P0 (feed without probiotics), P1 (feed supplemented with a commercial probiotic containing Bacillus subtilis ≥10⁶ CFU/mL at a dose of 15 mL/kg feed), and P2 (feed supplemented with a commercial probiotic containing Lactobacillus casei ≥10⁶ CFU/mL and Saccharomyces cerevisiae ≥10⁶ CFU/mL at a dose of 20 mL/kg feed). The results showed that treatment P2 produced the best outcomes and differed significantly (P<0.05) from the other treatments. This treatment resulted in higher survival (94.43±7.35%), specific growth rate (8.44±0.30 %/day), absolute weight gain (5.32±0.86 g), and absolute length gain (2.08±0.27 cm/day), along with improved feed conversion ratio (1.26±0.07), feed efficiency (81.34±0.36%), and protein efficiency ratio (8.53±0.36). These findings suggest that the application of the probiotic used in treatment P2 can improve feed utilization and support better growth and survival of Nile tilapia fry under culture conditions.

Abstract

Ikan mas koki ranchu (Carassius auratus) merupakan salah satu komoditas ikan hias bernilai estetika tinggi karena memiliki saturasi warna yang cerah pada tubuhnya. Budidaya ikan hias sering kali dihadapi kendala berupa penurunan intensitas warna yang berdampak langsung pada penurunan daya tarik serta nilai ekonomis ikan. Pemanfaatan astaxanthin sebagai sumber karotenoid dalam formulasi pakan menjadi strategi efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas warna tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dosis optimal serta efektivitas penggunaan astaxanthin terhadap peningkatan warna ikan mas koki ranchu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, meliputi: AX0 (kontrol), AX2 (2 g/kg pakan), AX3 (3 g/kg pakan), dan AX4 (4 g/kg pakan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan astaxanthin pada pakan buatan memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kecerahan warna tubuh ikan. Perlakuan AX3 dengan dosis 3 g/kg pakan teridentifikasi sebagai dosis terbaik dengan perolehan tingkat kecerahan warna mencapai 19,82.
