Abstract

It is undeniable that media is mostly used as a propaganda tool of the political elite to achieve the national interest of its country. This research identifies and explains the establishment of CNN Indonesia in making public opinion as one of the extensions on CNN International regarding the Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump Summit in Singapore in 2018. This research utilized: agenda-setting, priming and framing theory to find out the detail process of forming public opinion by CNN Indonesia. This research also utilizes qualitative research methods based on Robert E. Stake’s explanation. The finding suggests that CNN Indonesia, through its agenda-setting, was able to make the summit has an urgency to be discussed in public. Its priming is able to increasing awareness of the importance of denuclearization and world peace which has been Indonesa’s foreign policy agenda. Through its framing, CNN Indonesia attempted to construct public opinion that the United States able to utilize its super power label in order to perquisite many parties, namely creating the world peace.

Abstract

Konflik Rusia-Ukraina yang mengalami eskalasi di tahun 2022 memberi dampak bagi banyak negara, termasuk Indonesia. Sebagai salah satu negara yang menjunjung tinggi perdamaian dan merupakan negara sahabat kedua pihak, kontribusi sebagai fasilitator perdamaian menciptakan tantangan bagi diplomasi negara. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis konsep advokasi dalam diplomasi publik milik Cull (2009) mengenai nilai perdamaian Indonesia pada konteks konflik yang terjadi. Kajian kualitatif terhadap metode, aspek informasi, dan elemen advokasi dilakukan terhadap arsip resmi informasi publik Pemerintah RI. Wawancara juga dilakukan terhadap perwakilan Kementerian Luar Negeri RI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keberadaan advokasi dalam diplomasi publik Indonesia mengenai perdamaian dalam bentuk aktivitas media sosial, penyampaian dan publikasi pers, serta penyampaian pernyataan strategis melalui jejaring dan forum diplomatik Indonesia. Aspek informasi advokasi Indonesia kemudian menunjukkan adanya penentuan tujuan yang jelas, pemilihan audiens yang hati-hati, dan pemilihan penyampai pesan yang kredibel. Karakteristik advokasi dalam diplomasi publik Indonesia juga ditemukan memiliki jangka waktu konseptual yang singkat, memiliki laju Informasi dengan arah dari dalam ke luar, dilakukan menggunakan infrastruktur pemerintahan, dan keterpercayaan Informasi advokasi yang ditunjukkan melalui kedekatan penyampaiannya dengan badan Pemerintah.The escalation of Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022 had significant repercussions for numerous states, including Indonesia. As a nation that upholds peace and maintains friendly ties with both parties, the role of peace facilitator posed as a challenge for Indonesia's diplomacy. This research aimed to analyze Cull’concept of advocacy in public diplomacy (2009), that discuss Indonesia's peace values in the conflict. A qualitative study of methods, informational aspects, and elements of advocacy was conducted based on the official public information archives of the Indonesian government. Interviews were also carried out with representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Research findings revealed the existence of advocacy in Indonesia's public diplomacy regarding peace, in social media activities, publication of press releases, and strategic dissemination of statements through Indonesian diplomatic networks. The informational aspects of Indonesia's advocacy indicated a clear goal setting, careful audience selection, and choices of credible messengers. Characteristics of advocacy in Indonesia's public diplomacy were found to have a short conceptual time frame, an outward information flow, utilization of government infrastructure, and the credibility of advocacy information based on its proximity to government bodies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memahami praktik diplomasi budaya Indonesia melalui program Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) di Australia. Saat ini Indonesia menghadapi tantangan terkait penurunan minat warga Australia untuk belajar bahasa Indonesia. Terlebih, selama kurun 2018-2022, semua negara mengalami perubahan tatanan dunia baru akibat pandemi COVID-19. Untuk tujuan itu digunakan konsep strategi diplomasi budaya oleh Patricia Goff, yaitu koneksi, konsistensi, dan inovasi. Penelitian ini juga  menerapkan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa diplomasi budaya Indonesia melalui program BIPA di Australia telah menerapkan tiga strategi diplomasi budaya menurut Patricia Goff. This research aims to identify and understand the practice of Indonesian cultural diplomacy through the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program in Australia. Currently, Indonesia is facing challenges related to the declining interest of the Australian. Moreover, during the 2018-2022 period, all countries have experienced changes to the new world order as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This research uses the cultural diplomacy concept by Patricia Goff, namely connection, consistency, and innovation. This research uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques of interviews, documentations, and literature studies. The results of this research indicate that Indonesian cultural diplomacy through the BIPA program in Australia has implemented the three cultural diplomacy strategies according to Patricia Goff.

Abstract

Korean Wave adalah hal yang paling populer di kalangan orang Indonesia. Pemerintah Korea Selatan juga mendukung untuk mendorong berkembangnya Korean Wave khususnya K-Pop untuk menyebarkan citra positif negaranya di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami diplomasi budaya Korea Selatan yang dilakukan oleh grup idola K-Pop. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan konsep diplomasi budaya, khususnya strategi diplomasi budaya oleh Patricia Goff. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa implementasi diplomasi budaya Korea Selatan di Indonesia terus berjalan secara konsisten. Ikatan budaya kedua negara yang terjalin sejak tahun 2000 semakin erat dari tahun ke tahun. Hal ini juga didukung oleh kegigihan para diplomat Korea Selatan yang berhasil menumbuhkan rasa saling pengertian dan kepedulian dalam menjalankan diplomasi budaya secara konsisten. Komitmen dan konsistensi para pelaku diplomasi budaya Korea Selatan juga terlihat dari munculnya program-program inovatif, seperti memanfaatkan idola K-Pop untuk mempromosikan budaya negaranya. Inovasi lainnya terlihat saat pandemi COVID-19 melanda, Korea Selatan mampu terus menjalankan diplomasi budayanya dengan memanfaatkan teknologi untuk menjaga dan meningkatkan citra positif negaranya.Korean Wave is the most popular thing among Indonesian. The South Korean government also supports encouraging the development of the Korean Wave, especially K-Pop to spread a positive image of their country in Indonesia. This research aims to understand South Korean cultural diplomacy carried out by K-Pop idol groups. The research method used is a qualitative method with the concept of cultural diplomacy, specifically cultural diplomacy strategies by Patricia Goff. The results show that the implementation of South Korean cultural diplomacy in Indonesia continues consistently. The cultural ties between the two countries that have existed since 2000 are getting closer from year to year. This is also supported by the persistence of South Korean diplomats who have succeeded in fostering a sense of mutual understanding and concern in carrying out cultural diplomacy consistently. The commitment and consistency of South Korean cultural diplomacy actors can also be seen from the emergence of innovative programs, such as using K-Pop idols to promote their country's culture. Another innovation was seen when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, South Korea was able to continue carrying out its cultural diplomacy by utilizing technology to maintain and improve the country's positive image.

Abstract

One of the phenomenal crimes today is corruption. This crime is not only detrimental to state finances, but is also a violation of the social and economic rights of the people. Corruption has destroyed the foundations of religion, moral and ethical values. Additional Criminal Sanctions against corruption in the form of confiscation of tangible or intangible movable property or immovable property used for or obtained from corruption, including companies owned by the convicted person where the criminal act of corruption was committed, as well as goods that replace goods - the goods, payment of replacement money in the same amount as the corrupted property, closure of all or part of the company for a maximum period of 1 (one) year and revocation of all or part of certain rights or elimination of all or part of certain profits, which have been or can be given by the Government to the convict.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh knowledge management terhadap competitive advantage dengan peran mediasi inovasi produk pada coffee shop di Tangerang Selatan. Survei dilakukan pada pemilik atau manajer kedai kopi di wilayah tersebut dan mengambil sampel sebanyak 70 responden melalui penyebaran angket ke coffee shop dengan G-form. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dan menggunakan SEM-PLS menganalisis data yang diperoleh untuk menguji 4 hipotesis penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen pengetahuan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap competitive advantage dan inovasi produk, serta terdapat peran mediasi parsial inovasi produk dalam hubungan antara knowledge management dan competitive advantage. Nilai koefisien jalur menunjukkan bahwa inovasi produk secara langsung berpengaruh kuat dan signifikan terhadap competitive advantage. Hasil pengujian model juga menunjukkan bahwa model memiliki nilai predictive relevance yang baik. Implikasi manajerial dari hasil penelitian ini adalah kedai kopi harus fokus pada pengembangan knowledge management dan inovasi produk untuk memiliki competitive advantage pada coffee shop di Tangerang Selatan. This study aims to analyze the effect of knowledge management on competitive advantage with the mediating role of product innovation in coffee shops in South Tangerang. A survey was conducted on the owners or managers of coffee shops in the area and a sample of 70 respondents was taken through the distribution of questionnaires to coffee shops with G-form. This study uses quantitative research methods and uses SEM-PLS to analyze the data obtained to test 4 research hypotheses. The results of the study show that knowledge management has a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage and product innovation, and there is a partial mediating role of product innovation in the relationship between knowledge management and competitive advantage. The path coefficient value shows that product innovation has a strong and significant direct effect on competitive advantage. The results of the model testing also show that the model has good predictive relevance and goodness of fit values. The managerial implications of the results of this study are that coffee shops should focus on the development of knowledge management and product innovation to have a competitive advantage in coffee shops in South Tangerang.

Abstract

Corruption is currently one of the many major challenges that must be faced by the Indonesian nation. To some extent, corruption not only threatens the environment, human rights, democratic institutions and basic rights and freedoms, but also hinders development and exacerbates poverty. Based on the results of the study, it is known that; The legal regulation of corruption in Indonesia is regulated in Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001. In addition to imprisonment and fines, this law also regulates additional sanctions such as revocation of political rights and confiscation of assets. Additional sanctions aim to provide a deterrent effect, but their implementation is still hampered by inconsistent law enforcement and the difficulty of returning assets. The policy of sanctions for corruption crimes in Indonesia aims to provide a deterrent effect through principal and additional penalties, such as revocation of political rights and confiscation of assets

Abstract

As an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), for years, Greenpeace has waged campaigns against rainforest deforestation in Indonesia by multinational corporations, such as Asia Pulp & Paper and Wilmar International, the top players in their respective industries. This study reviews the similarities and differences in campaign strategies used by Greenpeace against APP and Wilmar while showing the process of global media communication. The research was conducted as a comparative study using qualitative methods based on the Sandman Environmental Communication Model. Data collected from documents and audio-visual materials passed through a triangulation process to cross-check its interpretation. Eventually, this research finds that Greenpeace relied on the image of well-loved characters like Barbie to create intrigue in its "Barbie, It's Over” campaign against Mattel and, in turn, APP. While with Wilmar, Greenpeace took a more sympathetic approach using a baby orangutan character in the "Rang-tan” video. Both align with the Sandman Model: relying on publicity stunts to stimulate independent information-seeking from the communicant, which in turn will change their behaviour. Greenpeace's campaign strategy described in this study can be an example for other civil society organizations to achieve sustainable positive behaviour change. Keywords: Asia Pulp & Paper; global media communication; Greenpeace; international environmental campaign; Wilmar International   Selama bertahun-tahun, Greenpeace sebagai Organisasi Non-Pemerintah Internasional (INGO) melakukan kampanye melawan deforestasi hutan hujan di Indonesia oleh perusahaan multinasional seperti Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) dan Wilmar International yang merupakan pemain utama di industri masing-masing. Penelitian ini mengkaji persamaan dan perbedaan strategi kampanye yang digunakan Greenpeace terhadap APP dan Wilmar serta menjelaskan proses komunikasi media global yang terjadi. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebagai studi komparatif menggunakan metode kualitatif berdasarkan Model Komunikasi Lingkungan Sandman. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi dokumen dan bahan audio visual yang melewati proses triangulasi untuk memeriksa silang interpretasi data. Temuan utama penelitian ini lantas adalah bahwa Greenpeace mengandalkan citra karakter yang dicintai publik seperti Barbie untuk menciptakan intrik dalam kampanye "Barbie, It's Over” melawan APP. Sementara dalam kampanye melawan Wilmar, Greenpeace mengambil pendekatan yang lebih simpatik dengan menggunakan karakter bayi orangutan dalam video "Rang-tan”. Keduanya sejalan dengan Model Sandman: mengandalkan aksi publisitas untuk merangsang pencarian informasi independen dari komunikan, yang pada gilirannya akan mengubah perilaku mereka. Strategi kampanye Greenpeace yang dijelaskan dalam studi ini pun dapat menjadi contoh bagi organisasi masyarakat sipil lainnya untuk mencapai perubahan perilaku positif yang berkelanjutan. Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Hamas as Islamist Social Movement reviewed from the perspective of Critical Theory of International Relations Studies. The theories used in this study are the concept of Critical Theory and Social Movement Theory. The research method is a descriptive qualitative method, with a case study approach model. Data collection techniques are carried out through literature reviews from various online news, documents, books and journals related to the research topic. The results indicate that Hamas movement is formed by historical structures, consist of material capabilities with organizational capabilities. Ideas by the desire to fight against Israel occupation and institutionalized by supporting of Palestinian. So, social forces with Hamas' ideology and response to Fatah's approach, made Hamas takes different way in responding to the Israeli occupation. In addition, Western media coverage of Hamas has created a negative image of it so creating biased facts.

Abstract

This research focuses on understanding Indonesia's defense diplomacy efforts in strengthening defense cooperation with South Korea. This research specifically looks at opportunities and challenges in defense cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea using defense diplomacy. This study uses a qualitative method using two types of data: primary data through interviews and secondary data collected from various sources such as electronic publications and electronic media. This study finds that Indonesia has built defense diplomacy that opens up new opportunities for defense cooperation and strives to overcome challenges in defense cooperation between the two countries through various forms of defense diplomacy. This study concludes that Indonesia's defense cooperation with South Korea in Indonesia's defense diplomacy is a strategic step to improve Indonesia's defense capabilities. The implications of the results of this study are to improve the quality and quantity of bilateral contacts between military defense officials and defense diplomacy strategies and show the importance of defense diplomacy in maintaining relations with other countries.
