Abstract

Pemanfaatan literasi Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran untuk para Taruna ternyata tidak harus melalui text book . Banyak cara yang bisa dilakukan oleh para dosen , agara para taruna mendapatkan pengetahuan dan meningkatkan kosakata bahasa Inggris dengan metode yang menyenangkan . Jika para taruna senang menjalani sesuatu , tentunya ilmu yang akan diperoleh akan lebih maksimal. Selain itu kemampuan pedagogik dosen pun diharapkan mampu menciptakan pembelajaran kreatif dan inofatif. Salah satu pemanfaatan literasi teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi  dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui peran lagu di youtube . Profesionalisme dosen melalui kompetensi penggunaan dwibahasa dan teknologi dituntut dalam era sekarang ini .Penelitian ini mengunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Maritim AMNI Program studi Ketatalaksanaan Pelayaran Niaga dan Kepelabuhan . Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara , observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu menstimulasi kemampuan kosakata para Taruna dan meningkatkan profesionalisme dosen dalam berkarya menumbuhkembangkan kemampuan literasi Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi melalui peran lagu kepada para Taruna.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out on the effectiveness of movie making activities to improve students’ learning motivation and speaking skills of the third semester of Port and Shipping management students of STIMART “AMNI” Semarang in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research was an experimental research design which involved two groups. They were control group and experimental group. The subject of this research was Class A and B of the third semester of Port and Shipping Management of STIMART “AMNI” Semarang in the academic year of 2016/2017. Each class was consists of 30 students. Class A was experiment group and class B was the control group. At the beginning of this research, both groups were given pretest. Then, the experimental group was given treatment of movie making activities which was done for five times. The control group was not getting any treatment. Next, both groups were given posttest.The result of this research was based on the result of both groups pretest and posttest. The control group pretest result was 60, 6 and the posttest result was 77,2 while the experimental group pretest result was 67,4 and the posttest result was 83,4 so, it could be concluded that movie making activities was 83,4% effective to improve and increase students’ learning motivation and speaking skills of Port and Shipping management students of STIMART “AMNI ” Semarang in the academic year of 2016/2017.Keywords : Movie making activities, Speaking, Motivation. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan kegiatan pembuatan film untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dan ketrampilan berbicara taruna semester tiga jurusan Ketatalaksanaan pelayaran Niaga dan Kepelabuhanan STIMART “ AMNI ” Semarang tahun akademik 2016/2017.  Penelitian ini adalah penelitian experimental yang melibatkan 2 grup. 1 grup sebagai control grup dan 1 grup sebagai experimental grup. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah taruna kelas A dan B mempunyai jumlah taruna sebanyak 30 taruna . Kelas A sebagai eksperiment grup dan kelas B sebagai kontrol grup. Pada awal pelaksanaan penelitian , kedua grup diberikan pretest . Kemudian , kelas yang merupakan eksperimental grup diberikan perlakuan menggunakan kegiatan pembuatan film. Perlakuan ini dilakukan lima kali . Bagi control grup tidak diberikan perlakuan sama sekali. Selanjutnya, kedua grup diberikan posttest. Hasil dari penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil dari pretest dan posttest dari kedua grup. Hasil pretest dari control grup 60,6 dan posttestnya 77,2 sedangkan hasil pretest eksperimental group 67,4 dan posttestnya 83,4 jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pembuatan film 83,4% efektif untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dan ketrampilan berbicara taruna semester tiga jurusan Ketatalaksanaan Pelayaran Niaga dan Kepelabuhanan STIMART “ AMNI ”Semarang tahun akademik 2016/2017.Kata kunci : Kegiatan pembuatan Film, Berbicara, Motivasi

Abstract

Hydrogen sulphideor H2S is a naturally occurring gas found in a variety of geological formation. It is also formed by the natural decomposition of organic material in the absence of oxygen. It is encountered in a variety of industrial processes, including sewage and waste water treatment facilities and the production also refining of petroleum, pulp and paper, metals, acid gas, stink dump,vessels, etc.H2S gas is colorless, heavier than air and extremely toxic in small concentrations, it has a rotten egg smell, causes eye and throat irritation. H2S can deaden your sense of smell; at higher concentrations can causes death. For these reason training in how to protect you is crucial in any industry and places where H2S might be encountered. You will know more about the toxic effect and dangers of H2S, but first take a look at the following fatality incidents, which occurred in the petroleum industry. All of this incident could have been prevented.The data were collected by using study of literature and observation.the suggestionto overcome the problem are cautions when dealing with any confined space and if near oil and gas facilities check wind direction.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between students' learning style and motivation when learning English, and their proficiency in vocabulary during their third semester in the English Education program at the State Islamic Institute of Kerinci in the academic year 2022-2023. The study was of a quantitative nature. The population of the study consisted of students in their third semester of the English Department at IAIN Kerinci. The sample size used for the research was 32 students, who were selected via total sampling. Data collection on learning styles was conducted using Gutman's questionnaire, while motivation was gathered through the Likert scale. Vocabulary acquisition was examined through a test. SPSS 26 was utilized to analyze the data using a correlation and regression test. The report found that 86.25% of the third-semester students of the English Education Program of the State Islamic Institute of Kerinci used the Visual Auditory Kinesthetic (VAK) learning style. The students' motivation was in the high criteria, with a score of 72.73. Also, the average score of 80 indicated excellent vocabulary mastery, rated with the criteria of A. The study yielded significant results, indicating a high correlation between the students' learning style and their vocabulary acquisition. Moreover, a more significant correlation was observed between the students' learning styles and vocabulary mastery, as well as with their motivation levels. In conclusion, the results of the study suggest that an appropriate choice of learning style can considerably enhance students' vocabulary acquisition during their third semester in the English Education Program at the State Islamic Institute of Kerinci in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Abstract

In an increasingly globalized world, English language plays a crucial role in communication in the transportation field, involving various countries and cultures. This article aims to investigate the role of English as a lingua franca in the transportation industry and emphasize its importance in facilitating communication among professionals in the sector. Through literature analysis and relevant sources, this article explains that English enables professionals such as pilots, flight attendants, port officers, and air traffic controllers to communicate smoothly and effectively. Proficiency in English also expedites information exchange and ensures safety and operational efficiency, especially in emergency situations or when working with multinational teams. Furthermore, the standardization of English in international air navigation rules, maritime traffic systems, and land transportation regulations ensures consistent communication and mutual understanding among professionals worldwide. This helps to avoid misunderstandings that could have adverse effects on safety and security. Moreover, English language proficiency facilitates mobility and global connectivity in the transportation industry. Professionals who master English have broader access to international career opportunities and can interact with customers, business partners, and colleagues from various countries. This strengthens business relationships, enhances customer satisfaction, and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and innovation. Therefore, a good understanding and utilization of English as the primary language are crucial in maintaining the smooth functioning and effectiveness of the increasingly complex transportation industry.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the performance of SMEs run by the millennial generation by investigating the effect of entrepreneurship orientation indicators of innovation, proactivity, and risk orientation on sustainability decisions by using the mediating effect of future orientation. The research was conducted in 160 SMEs run by the millennial generation in Semarang, Indonesia. The sampling was conducted using simple random sampling, while the analysis was performed by examining path analysis using the PLS-SEM technique. The results showed significant influences of innovation, proactivity, and risk orientation on future orientation. The analysis of the mediating role of future orientation showed its capability to strengthen the effects of innovation, proactivity, and risk orientation on sustainability decisions. The findings have implications for allowing millennial generation SMEs to remain competitive in the development of the digital world by making them more future-oriented and to have a better future outlook to mitigate uncertainties in the future by optimizing innovation proactivity and risk orientation. Therefore, the factors critical for the sustainability of millennial SMEs are adjusting strategies that can seize current opportunities and develop digital capabilities and innovation strategies to compete in an increasingly competitive market. Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar adalah inovasi terbaru dalam pendidikan tinggi yang bertujuan untuk memberikan kebebasan dan fleksibilitas kepada mahasiswa dalam memilih dan mengelola kurikulum mereka sendiri. Salah satu tujuan utama dari implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar adalah meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan intelektual yang penting dalam mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk menghadapi kompleksitas dunia modern. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dampak implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa di sebuah institusi pendidikan tinggi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data kuantitatif melalui survei dan analisis data komparatif sebelum dan setelah implementasi kurikulum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa setelah diterapkannya Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar. Ini mencakup peningkatan kemampuan dalam mengidentifikasi masalah, menganalisis informasi, mengevaluasi argumen, dan mengambil keputusan yang berdasarkan bukti. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mendukung atau menghambat keberhasilan implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Temuan ini dapat menjadi pedoman bagi institusi pendidikan tinggi lainnya yang ingin menerapkan Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar atau inovasi serupa dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dan persiapan mahasiswa untuk masa depan yang penuh tantangan. Abstract

This research used a qualitative method. The data were utterances uttered by characters in the Paranorman movie, whereas the contexts were dialogues. The research used the Paranorman movie script and movie as sources. The researcher was the primary instrument, with the data sheet as a secondary. The researcher collected data through analyzing documents by note-taking. The data were analyzed using a reference. The results of the research are as follows. First, other characters in Paranorman use four types of impoliteness strategies. They are bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, and sarcasm. Second, each impoliteness strategy has its own representation. Direct, clear, and unambiguous statements are used to express impoliteness. Positive impoliteness occurs as disassociating from others, calling the other names, and using of taboo words. Negative impoliteness occurs as condescending, scorning, or ridiculing the other. Sarcasm or mock politeness is only performed by using insincere politeness. This is the most representation. Third, the movie shows three responses: no response, accepting, and countering the face attack. Countering a face attack has two parts: offensive and defensive.

Abstract

This study explains the using innovative technologies in the process of teaching maritime English. English is always important in Maritime, especially in using innovative technologies such as: robotic technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), networked sensors, advanced monitoring system, and blockchain technology. In teaching Maritime English, the maritime sector needs English as a language in communication medium to promote understanding between the teachers and students. The Maritime Communication Program helps maritime industry professionals to communicate better in English and across cultures. Through a research approach qualitative descriptive, to get the innovative technologies in teaching Maritime English. By using the theory of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). The results in this study are developed business English course for the shipping industry and other maritime sectors, help professionals with different nationalities and cultural backgrounds communicate effectively and with ease. This is imminent for safety reasons, but it also supports companies that employ people from all over the world maintain main quality standards in a very dynamic and competitive environment.

Abstract

The focus of this research is on identifying grammar errors in students’ descriptions of office spaces.Using Corder’s (1974) taxonomy, four types of errors were identified: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Data were collected from eight students and analyzed qualitatively. The results show that misformation was the most frequent error, followed by omission, addition, and misordering. These findings suggest that students’ writing skills are still influenced by incomplete language development and native language interference. The study recommends grammar-focused feedback and the use of authentic materials to improve students’ accuracy and fluency in English writing.
