Abstract

Water quality is a limiting factor of life for aquatic biota, especially biota that lives in a pond. Therefore, water quality management is very necessary so that cultivation activities, especially ponds can continue and do not cause negative impacts on the surrounding environment. Various factors can decrease the water quality of aquaculture ponds one of which is from the remnants of feed and fish manure. Feed is one of the contributors to the dissolved organic matter in the cultivation pond. Maggot or black shoulder fly larvae are one of the alternatives that can be used as fish feed. Maggot has a high animal protein content of 30-45%, so it is very effective to be used as an alternative to additional feed in fish farming. The purpose of this research is to find out the difference in pond water quality between ponds by using maggot and pond feed by using pellet feed. The data taken in this study is primary data using the Complete Randomized Design (RAL) method with 3 treatments and 3 replays in each treatment. These treatments include Full Maggot Control (MU), 50% pellet, and 50% maggot (PU). Data obtained include; ammonia. Nitrites, and nitrates. The results showed that the average final value of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates respectively treatment is KU ( 0.22 mg / L, 0.44 mg/L, 3.667 mg/L), PU (0.022 mg/L, 0.042 mg/L, 3.433 mg/L), MU (0.046 mg/L, 0.028 mg/L, 2.653 mg/L). The results illustrate the conclusion that the provision of maggots as an alternative and additional feed can improve the quality of aquaculture water.

Abstract

The fisheries sector is one sector that has great potential in improving the economy. To increase the income of fish cultivators, farmers need to manage their business results better before they were marketed or sold. The welfare level of fish farmers was still low, this is not because the selling price of fish is low, nor is it because of the large number of imported fish, but rather due to the government's lack of attention to the fishery sector, especially freshwater fisheries. This study used a descriptive method, which was conducted in the Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The selection of the research area was carried out in purposive method. Determination of the research sample using the snowball sampling method. Collecting data using interview method using questionnaires to obtain primary data and documentation method to obtain secondary data. The data analysis method used descriptive qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis using a triangulation technique approach that tested the validity of the data using methods, sources, and theories. The results showed that the factors that significantly influenced the income of fish farmers in Nagari Andaleh, Luak District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency were the number of harvests (X1), land area (X2), production costs (X5), and the selling price of production (X6).  While the factors that do not affect the income of rice farmers are farmer education (X3), farmer age (X4) and other occupations (X7).

Abstract

The cantang grouper is a hybrid of the tiger grouper and the cantang grouper. The canting grouper has qualities that make it desirable for further development, including rapid growth, disease resistance, and environmental tolerance. This research aims to determine the embryological process and the hatching rate (HR) results. This research was carried out from September 1 to December 30, 2023, at Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau (BPAP) Situbondo. The method used in this research is a descriptive method obtained from primary data and secondary data. The quality of larvae from the hybridization of tiger grouper fish (Epinephelus fuscogutattus) and kertang grouper fish (Epinephelus lanceolatus) was obtained through embryology and hatching rate observations. This research concludes that rearing hybridized canting grouper larvae includes several processes: egg development, egg harvesting, preparation of rearing tanks, egg stocking, hatching rate, observation of larvae, feeding management, water quality management, and disease management. The Hatching Rate (HR) percentage obtained was 82%, which is classified as high quality according to SNI standards.

Abstract

Tilapia, also known as Oreochromis niloticus, is an important commodity in Indonesia that contributes to national food security, economic sustainability and community welfare. The aim of this research is to determine techniques for rearing tilapia cultivation using an aquaponic system. The aquaponics system uses water from fish farming ponds which is channeled through pipes for cultivating plants. This research uses an observation and active participation methodology, namely going directly to the field during tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) rearing activities using an aquaponic system at OPO Q Farm Cacaban, Magelang City. The research results show that the aquaponics system is an effective method for cultivating tilapia. The process includes preparing the tilapia cultivation container, lettuce plant container, sowing the lettuce plants, stocking the fish, filling the lettuce seeds into the netpot container, providing food, and checking the water quality. The aquaponics system produced a high FCR of 1.06 tilapia, a survival rate of 99%, and a lettuce yield of 47.5 kg. The water quality of the aquaponic system is considered ideal, with temperatures ranging from 23-26°C, pH 6.5-7.5, DO 5.74-6.76 mg/L, and Ammonia 0 ppm. Lettuce plants effectively absorb food and fish metabolic waste, thereby ensuring that the water quality in the aquaponic tilapia cultivation medium is maintained.
