Abstract

Background: Medical students are a population that is considered vulnerable to experience stress during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially with the heavy learning load and changes in the learning system that were initially carried out face-to-face. Currently, there are limited data regarding the stress of studying online in medical students and their effect on learning achievement. This study aimed to determine the stress effect of studying online in medical students on their academic achievement. Methods: This study was an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach. 112 samples were obtained from students of Bachelor of Medicine and Medical Doctor in one of the universities in Bali with the instruments that were distributed via Google Form. Primary data collection was carried out using the Medical Student Stressor Questionnaire (MSSQ) questionnaire, while secondary data collection was obtained from the average score of three-block exams done online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The stress level of medical students in online learning was dominated by high stress (55.4%) with the majority cause due to Academic Related Stressor (ARS). There is a significant relationship (p = 0.021) between the incidence of stress and learning achievement in students (-0.217, 95% CI -0.39 to -0.03). The learning system preference that was chosen by the students is dominated by a 50% online learning system and 50% offline as much as 27.7%.Conclusion: The results indicated that there is a high level of stress among medical students. There is a correlation between stress events and medical student’s achievement during online learning.

Abstract

The golden period of growth and development is at the age of under five years. Detection of deviations in growth and development can be done at the integrated health post and cadres are the main driver in this detection. Community participation and the capacity of integrated health post’s cadres and managers are still lacking. One of the efforts to increase community participation is capacity training for integrated health post’s cadres and managers. Aims of this training is to increase knowledge of integrated health post’s cadres and managers in Purwa Kerthi Village, Abang District, Karangasem Regency in managing integrated health center and early detection of children under five years growth and development’s deviations. The training used the lecture method, question and answer and case discussions assisted by power point presentations, videos, guidebooks for the growth and development’s implementation at integrated health center and guidebooks for growth and development’s early detection. The participants were 15 people, namely 7 cadres dan 8 managers, including 4 hamlet heads, human development cadre, village staff and village midwife. Before and after the training participants filled out pre--post test questionnaires. The Wilcoxon test were used to analyze data. Knowledge of integrated health center cadres and managers increased after being given training. As an implication, cadres and managers are able to manage integrated health center well, cadres are able to carry out early detection independently and follow up if there are developmental deviations in children under five. Keywords: children, under five years, early detection, integrated health center, cadres, growth and development

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of T. vaginalis infection among pregnant women in the city of Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia and the associated factors. Methods: There were 376 pregnant women who participated in this study. Study participants were selected using cluster sampling method. These pregnant women were then interviewed and tested for T. Vaginalis infection (microscopic and culture). Results: Infection of T. vaginalis was found in 7.4% of the pregnant women. The infection is most likely to be found in pregnant women who have a lower education level, middle-class status and a history of STIs. It is also most likely if they never had any vaginal douching before if they have intercourse ≥3 times per week, use sitting toilets and use river water as their main water source. Type of toilet used, the practice of vaginal douching, and condom usage show a significant association with trichomoniasis among pregnant women (p values were 0.001, 0.002 and 0.000 respectively). Conclusion: Early detection of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), especially T. vaginalis infection, should be performed during prenatal care to avoid the negative effects on pregnancy. Keywords - pregnancy, STI, vaginal trichomoniasis
