Abstract

Based on the 2013 curriculum, students are expected to master common vocabulary in academic text. However, in reality, the above goal has not been achieved. It can be proven by the fact that students still have a common vocabulary and using incorrect words. During the pre-observation, students often experience learning obstacles while learning English. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of Chalk Down, Turn Around Game for improving students’ vocabulary mastery at grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Bambang. This study used a pre-experimental method in the form of one class given a pre-test and post-test. The number of students involved 20 students and selected using the total sampling technique. The results of the data showed that the mean score on the post-test is higher than the pre-test (85> 60.25), and the t-test value is higher than the t-table score (11,049> 2,092) at the level of increase of 0.05 with degree freedom (df) 19. It means that the use of the Chalk Down, Turn Around Game can improve students' vocabulary.

Abstract

Keluarga Berencana merupakan cara dalam memberikan ketahanan serta kesehatan dan keselamatan ibu, anak, dan keluarga perempuan. Saat menggunakan alat kontrasepsi, efek samping yang dapat mempengaruhi fungsi reproduksi harus diperhitungkan. Salah satu alasan untuk berhenti menggunakan alat kontrasepsi adalah karena efek sampingnya. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui pengaruh budaya terhadap penggunaan kontrasepsi bagi masyarakat konjo di kawasan adat Ammatoa di Desa Tanah Toa. Jenis penelitian deskriptif dan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh masyarakat konjo di Kawasan Adat Ammatoa sebanyak 60 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan total sampling. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa ibu yang mendukung menggunakan alat kontrasepsi jenis suntik sebanyak 18 responden (30%), dan sebaliknya ibu yang mendukung menggunakan alat kontrasepsi implant sebanyak 7 responden (12%), tidak mendukung penggunaan alat kontrasepsi 35 responden (58%). Terdapat pengaruh antara antara variabel bebas dan variabel terikat sebagaimana dari hasil uji Regresi Linear Sederhana menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi yaitu 0,001.

Abstract

Era globalisasi mengharuskan anak - anak menguasai bahasa Inggris dengan baik. Tuntutan tersebut memotivasi orang tua untuk menyekolahkan anaknya di sekolah internasional atau nasional plus dimana bahasa pengantar yang digunakan adalah bahasa asing. Tidak peduli kondisi psikologis anak – anak, yang terpenting ada lisensi internasional, maka para orang tua akan puas dan percaya pada pendidikan tersebut. Akibatnya, banyak anak yang mengalami frustasi dan bahkan sampai stress. Alih-alih bukannya penguasaan bahasa Inggris yang mereka dapatkan, malah menjadi anak karbitan yang terpaksa berbahasa Inggris. Sehingga pelafalan bunyi dan struktur kalimat bahasa yang mereka ucapkan banyak yang salah. Sebenarnya, perlu adanya pertimbangan bagi para orang tua untuk memasukkan anak mereka pada pendidikan yang bermedia bahasa Inggris. Usia anak merupakan pertimbangan yang penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan minat budaya membaca anak – anak suku konjo di kajang terhadap Bahasa Asing. Para Anak - anak Suku Konjo diberikan literasi Bahasa Asing melalui pelatihan menggunakan metode storytelling untuk membangun motivasi dan meletakkan dasar literasi berbahasa Inggris yang merupakan asset dalam mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan. Dalam Pengabdian Masyarakat kali ini, ada 5 tahapan untuk metode yang telah dilalui yang terdiri dari observasi, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, penerapan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukan anak - anak lebih aktif, memiliki motivasi belajar yang baik, dan percaya diri dalam menggunakan ungkapan bahasa Inggris sederhana kepada teman sebaya. Abstract

Balang Lompo Island is located in Pangkep district has the beauty and abundant marine biodiversity that can attract both domestic and global tourists. This community service (PKM) activity was carried out on 7th Pangkep State High School students aimed at improving English-speaking skills in the field of tourism in response to the needs that can promote tourism development in Pangkep district. The methods used in this activity are in the form of memoirs that include interactive learning on the use of English in the context of tourism. The material presented includes vocabulary in the field of Tourism and writing about the potential tourism in the island of Balang Lompoa. The results of PKM showed a significant improvement in the understanding and application of English tourism among students. They responded positively to interactive and contextual learning methods, which helped them internalize English language skills more effectively. This community commitment is expected to make a positive contribution in preparing the younger generation to face the global challenges in the tourism sector. In addition, strengthening English skills is also expected to open up broader opportunities for students in developing careers and contributing to the development of local communities.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. During this period, adolescents experience changes both on the outside and inside of the body, both changes in body structure and function. Adolescence begins with very rapid growth which is usually called puberty. Problems related to reproductive health often stem from a lack of information, understanding and awareness to achieve reproductive health. There are many things related to this, starting from an introduction to reproductive organs, an understanding of the need to maintain the cleanliness of reproductive organs, an understanding of reproductive processes and the impact of irresponsible behavior. Therefore, providing an understanding of the health of reproductive organs and their functions as well as how to maintain health for teenagers is necessary. The aim of this activity is to increase female students' knowledge about Introduction to Reproductive Organ Health in Adolescents by using teaching aids. Using preparation, implementation and evaluation methods, the value obtained increased after introducing the reproductive organs and their functions as well as how to maintain and care for them. From these results it can be proven that providing education has a positive impact, namely increasing female students' knowledge. And the use of teaching aids is very helpful according to the results of this PKM activity. The use of props for female reproductive organs in counseling can increase female students' knowledge.

Abstract

Improving students’ ability to speak English confidently and fluently remains a challenge in many higher education institutions, including STKIP YPUP Makassar. Although speaking is a core skill in English education programs, many learners still struggle to express themselves effectively. To address this, Project-Based Learning (PBL) has emerged as a promising method, offering students the chance to actively use language through meaningful and collaborative tasks. This study aims to examine the students’ emotional involvement in learning speaking through Project-Based Learning approach at the students of STKIP YPUP in 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, documentation, and project outputs produced by the students. This study investigates how PBL influences students' emotional engagement and speaking development in an ESL context. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research gathered data through classroom observations, interviews with students, analysis of learning documents, and assessments of various student-led projects such as group presentations, performances, and interviews conducted in English. The results show that integrating PBL into speaking classes not only boosted students’ participation and motivation but also helped them become more confident and expressive in using the language. In addition, students reported feeling more connected to the learning process, and they developed skills such as teamwork, accountability, and critical thinking. Overall, the findings suggest that PBL can be an effective and engaging alternative for improving speaking instruction in higher education ESL settings.
