Abstract

Education is a basic human need. In practice, the implementation of education itself still leaves problems that have not yet been fully resolved. The problem in question is the dichotomization of education. Starting from the phenomenon of scientific dichotomization which then resulted in the emergence of the duality of the education system in Indonesia, namely Islamic religious education and science education, to separating religious and scientific awareness, the multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach is seen as the right approach to be used and developed by Islamic Religious College (PTKI) as the basis of Islamic higher education in integrating the duality of education. In addition, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches have indeed become contemporary demands in an effort to answer or overcome increasingly complex humanitarian problems. In other words, the production of knowledge through the provision of education must contribute significantly to human life itself without being trapped or confined to a rigid and dichotomous way of thinking.

Abstract

Abstract

Like a double-edged sword, the internet has many benefits but can also have negative impacts. The use of the internet in education can help improve student academic achievement, but its excessive use can make students addicted to the internet. Internet addiction can reduce academic achievement, reduce psycho-social abilities, and cause psycho-emotional problems. It is not easy and takes time to reduce internet addiction, because it has to wait for the individual to realize that he is experiencing a problematic behavior and wait for his will to change. Training self-management with a religious approach is seen as effective in reducing internet addiction for students who have religious lives. This study showed a significant decrease in internet addiction by 0.458 in students who took part in religious-based self-management training. Although the effectiveness is still low (N-Gain = 0.2) or N-Gain < 0.3, religion-based self-management training can raise awareness and willingness to change behavior and can significantly reduce internet addiction in all trainees.

Abstract

This study investigates the difference between the utility of general higher education (GHE) and Islamic higher education (IHE), students' enrolment intention, and their correlation. Data were collected using questionnaires. The participants of this study were 753 students in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Researchers used convenience and snowballing sampling techniques. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Spearman's correlation. This study proves that the level of utility and all its factors (economic and non-economic benefit, probability of success, and cost) differ significantly between GHE and IHE (Sig<0.05). Moreover, it was found that all factors correlate with enrolment intention (Sig<0.05). However, correlation coefficients indicate that the cost of GHE and IHE  is the factor with the weakest correlation (p=0,139 and p=0.084) with enrolment intention. The strongest correlation with enrolment intention is the utility of GHE and IHE (p=0,597 and p=0.579) and the possibility of success in GHE and IHE(p=0,614 and p=0.530). This study offers practical recommendations for higher education institutions and suggests future research.

Abstract

Student engagement plays a pivotal role in academic success. This study aims to examine the effects of counseling satisfaction (SAT), school climate (SC), Islamic religiosity (REL), and parental involvement (PI) on students’ grit and motivation (MOT), and to assess their indirect effects on SE through grit and MOT. The sample consisted of 338 (F = 214, M = 124) high school students from South Kalimantan, Indonesia, including 205 students from general high schools and 133 from Islamic high schools. The sample was selected using a convenience sampling technique.  The data analysis method used in this study was Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).  The findings indicated that all exogenous variables significantly influence grit and MOT, except for the non-significant effects of SAT on MOT and SC on grit. Grit and MOT significantly mediated the effects of exogenous variables on student engagement. However, grit did not mediate the impact of SC, and motivation did not mediate the effect of SAT. PI significantly enhances student grit, which in turn strongly predicts SE, highlighting its key mediating role. However, the sampling technique used may have introduced potential bias and limited the generalizability of our findings. These findings suggest that school counseling programs should also focus on enhancing parental awareness and involvement in their children's education.
