Abstract

Abstract Leachate from landfills, if left untreated, can lead to environmental pollution, especially if the leachate is discharged directly into the river. One way to reduce the environmental impact of seepage water is to treat the seepage water with a biofilter. The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of leachate treatment with the use of biofilters. The method used in this study was to use laboratory-scale experimental methods. The biofilter used in this study was a combination of palm oil, sand, coconut shell charcoal, coconut fiber, gravel, and stone. The parameters measured in this study include pH, BOD, and COD. Based on the results of the studies conducted, biofilters have a significant impact on reducing the chemical content in the leachate. Biofilters have been shown to reduce the content of chemicals in osmotic water, so they do not pollute the environment, especially when it is discharged into rivers. The results showed that the COD and BOD values of the exudate were significantly reduced 6 weeks after treatment with the biofilter. The effectiveness of biofilms in reducing the chemical content in the leachate due to the presence of microorganisms growing in the biofilter layer is also based on the presence of biofilms formed by contact between the leachate and the biofilter.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan ubi jalar ungu segar sebagai pangan fungsional sangat terbatas karena kurang praktis, tidak tahan lama dan membutuhkan ruang simpan yang baik. Pengolahan umbi-umbian menjadi tepung memiliki kelebihan dibandingkan bentuk segar karena dapat disimpan lebih lama, efisien, lebih praktis, dapat meningkatkan nilai ekonomisnya serta mampu menyediakan bahan baku untuk industri sehingga berpotensi mengurangi ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap impor tepung terigu. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan, komposisi kimia tepung ubi jalar dengan varietas Antin 2 dan Antin 3, menggunakan pengering cabinet dryer selama 2x24 jam dengan suhu perlakuan masing masing adalah 40ºC, 50ºC, 60 ºC. Penelitian dirancang menggunakan RAL Faktorial dengan perlakuan varietas jenis ubi jalar Antin 2 dan Antin 3, dan perlakuan suhu pengeringan (40°C, 50°C, 60°C). Parameter yang diuji yaitu , kadar air, kadar abu, kadar lemak, kadar protein, kadar karbohidrat, aktivitas antioksidan pada tepung ubi jalar varietas Antin 2 dan varietas Antin 3. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Annova pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dan dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT 5%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa tepung ubi jalar ungu varietas Antin 3 perlakuan terbaik pada proses pengeringan suhu 50oC (A3T2) yang menghasilkan tepung dengan kadar air 8,71% , kadar abu 0,97%, kadar protein 2,32%, kadar lemak 2,24%, kadar karbohidrat 85,21%, dan aktifivitas antioksidan 73,28%. Sedangkan untuk varietas Antin 2 perlakuan terbaik adalah penggunaan suhu pengering 50oC (A2T2) menghasilkan tepung ubi jalar ungu dengan, kadar air 9,53% , kadar abu 0,97, kadar protein 5,50%, kadar lemak 1,13%, kadar karbohidrat 81,66%, aktifivitas antioksidan 73,26%.
