Abstract

Piled raft foundation designs consider the contribution of the pile cap in transferring load to the ground and distributing load over the piles. The concept of a piled raft foundation requires a comprehensive evaluation of a number of factors that affect the performance of the foundation system. In this research the interaction among piles, pile cap and soil of a piled raft system on medium and stiff clays was studied. The effects of various distances between piles (s/d) in affecting load transfer mechanisms and deformation were considered. The study was performed by utilizing the 3D finite element method with a professional software package called Plaxis3D Foundation. A case study of the piled raft foundation performances of a foundation design for a high-rise building based on the soil stratification in Jakarta was also performed and is presented in this paper.

Abstract

Landslides is estimated to increase in the future as the impact of climate change, especially in changing of precipitation patterns, both of intensity and duration. Landslides are influenced by the rainfall duration that has a long duration and in infiltration capacity. The effect of infiltration of ground water causes volumetric water content increases and groundwater table recharge, which converts unsaturated soils become saturated soil. The longer infiltration causes soil cohesion decrease which is an indication of soil strenght decrease. It can be described by the relationship between the IDF(Intensity-Duration Frequency) curve, Hydraulic Conductivity curve, Soil Water Characteristic curve of slope stability analysis. This research will model the slope stability conditions at baseline (condition 30 years back) and when the projection (condition 30 years future) using the program SLOPE/w.

Abstract

Abstract

eographically, Indonesia is a maritime country that has around seventeen thousand islands stretchingfrom Sabang to Merauke so that Indonesia has been named the largest archipelagic country in the world. From the economic sector, Indonesia is also a country with a fairly stable level of economic growth. Thisbackground shows that there are a lot of economic activities in Indonesia. Economic activity in Indonesianwaters is supported by carrying out many maritime infrastructure developments, one of which is theconstruction of a container terminal at Tanjung Priok port. During the construction phase, there is adredging process around Jakarta Bay and it is feared that it will disrupt the stability of the sand bund dueto the dredging process. This study provides an illustration of how the distance between the sand bund anddredging and the slope of the slope greatly affect the safety factor. Slope stability analysis study using finiteelement program. The results of the study show that there are several areas that are not recommended fordredging because they do not reach a minimum slope safety factor of 1.5.

Abstract

Geotechnical engineers often deal with shallow foundation designs to support relatively simple building structures. However, as the demand for construction grows over time, there is a need for larger and more complex building structures. This is closely related to the weight of the building that will be supported by the foundation as a substructure. Therefore, the development of knowledge about other types of foundations to support the structural loads above them is highly necessary. Pile foundations are a fairly good solution for supporting larger structural loads that cause significant settlement. In designing pile foundations as a structure, there will certainly be raft to combine each pile foundation into a unified group. Raft are often designed only for combining each pile, but in reality, It also provides additional influence on the foundation system besides just serving as pile heads and load distributors to the foundation system. The study will investigate the influence of raft thickness on settlement that occurs in piled raft foundations. The raft thickness varies, namely 0.25m; 0.40m; 0.80m; 1.50m; and 3.00m. The piled raft foundation will be modeled and analyzed using finite element program. This study shows that the raft thickness affects the differential settlement that occurs in the piled raft foundation system. The results indicate that the differential settlement can be addressed by designing the raft thickness.

Abstract

This research examines the operational performance and user satisfaction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) mass transportation system in Palembang City, particularly on the LRT Demang Lebar Daun station corridor. The study involves the collection of primary and secondary data, including passenger numbers, waiting times, travel intervals, and travel times. The research results indicate that the average number of passengers per LRT station is approximately 10 passengers, resulting in a load factor ranging from 9% to 11%. While passenger comfort levels are relatively high, this low ridership may impact operational efficiency. The waiting times and travel intervals of the LRT are relatively short, enhancing passenger comfort, but warrant operational considerations. Furthermore, the study notes that the round-trip travel time on the LRT is approximately 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 57 seconds. However, limited parking facilities at the Demang Lebar Daun station can affect the interest in using the LRT. In order to improve operational performance and user satisfaction of the LRT, this research recommends an evaluation of travel intervals, waiting times, and daily LRT trip numbers. Additionally, improvements in parking facilities at LRT stations should be considered to enhance the convenience of using this mode of transportation.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of context that influences the use of elaborated code (EC) and restricted code (RC) in Asma Elbadawi’s speech on Wardah Heart to Heart talk show episode two. Employing a sociolinguistic approach, this study draws on Bernstein's code theory, as well as Holmes’s context theory using intralingual and extra-lingual commensurate methods. The results show that Asma tends to use EC to convey her message effectively, but she also uses RC in particular situations on the talk show. The findings indicate the use of EC and RC in Asma’s speech is not only influenced by her socio-economic background but also by the situational context of the speech event, such as genre, setting, participants, message content, and purpose. This study contributes to offering a broader perspective in the sociolinguistic field by highlighting how different contexts in a speech event, especially in a talk show, can influence the code usage of an individual.
