Abstract

Expansive clay soils have swelling and shrinkage properties and somehow reduce the mechanical properties required for soils to be used in civil engineering works. One method to improve the soil is by mechanical stabilization, namely mixing expansive clay soil with sand material. The sand material used in this research varied by 7.5%, 15%, and 22.5% of the total dry weight of expansive clay. The results shows that changes in mechanical properties were observed from the compaction test and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) both for soaked or unsoaked test. Based on these variations, in the compaction test, the addition of sand variations increases the maximum dry unit weight value and generally reduces the optimum water content value. The same results were also seen in the soaked and unsoaked CBR tests. In the swelling potential test, the addition of sand material succeeded in reducing the swelling value in expansive clay soils.

Abstract

Clay is a soil with fine particle size less than 0.002 mm, low permeability, cohession, high swelling, and slow consolidation process. Due to that problem it needs some improvement to stabilize the condition of soil before the process of construction conducted. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of adding shredded tire and cold mix bitumen as the value of shear strength changing are cohession, friction angle, and shear strength with triaxial unconsolidated undrained test. To see the effect of those mixture, this study uses 48 soil samples with 4 variation of shredded tired (0%, 1%, 1,5%, and 2%) and 4 variation of cold mix bitumen (0%, 1%, 2%, dan 3%). The result of this study showed that the adding of shredded tired and cold mix bitumen in soil compositition can increase parameters of soil. The optimum cohession is on variation 1% SB+2% B (T99B2SB1) with the value 0.61 kg/cm2. Meanwhile the optimum value of friction angle is on variation 1.5% SB+ 1% B (T98.5B1SB1.5) with the value 7.43o. The shear strength as the sum of cohession and friction angle tends to increase with the optimum value about 0.995 kg/cm2 in variation 2% bitumen and 1% shredded tire (T99B1SB1). From the study, the adding of shredded tired and cold mix bitumen improve the shear strength. The optimum value of shear strength is on variation 2% B+1% SB (T99B1SB1) with the value 0.995 kg/cm2. This study shows that stabilization material used in this research can be an alternative material for soil stabilization.

Abstract

The assesment of structural integrity in civil engineering construction is often assesed for ensuring the safety and the longevity of inftrasturture. A common assesment typically required some attachment sensors on area selection of reviewing before and after construction phase. Bored piles as bottom foundation element that distributed loads from upper structure to the soil layer requires thorough inspection to detect defects from light to heavy damage that may compromise their stability. This study aims to investigate the accuracy and precision of CSL (Crosshole Sonic Logging) as a defect indicator in diagnosing bored pile conditions. The study involves some points of CSL test in the site to identify and quantify potential defects The findings can be used to enhance the understanding of CSL as a diagnostic tool for bored piles and improving the overall foundation assessment methodologies. Abstract

Tanah lempung merupakan salah satu tanah yang memiliki permasalahan dalam konstruksi pembangunan. Hal ini dikarenakan karena sifat kembang susut yang cukup tinggi dimana lempung akan mengembang ketika terjadinya musim hujan dan menyusut ketika musim kemarau. Kondisi ini menyebabkan rusaknya konstruksi jika tanah ini dijadikan tanah dasarnya. Untuk menstabilisasikan tanah lempung ini, maka dibutuhkan zat aditif yaitu fly ash sebagai bahan campuran untuk permasalahan pada tanah ini. Dengan adanya penambahan fly ash, maka daya dukung menjadi meningkat dan tanah ini bisa dijadikan base dasar dari suatu konstruksi, khususnya untuk lapisan pondasi pada jalan. Karakteristik sifat fisis dan mekanis tanah lempung yang distabilisasi dengan fly ash dilakukan dengan menambahkan komposisi fly ash pada variasi kadar rencana dan diharapkan nilai daya dukung tanahnya menjadi meningkat. Diseminasi hasil dari penambahan variasi fly ash beserta nilai daya dukung tanah setelah distabilisasi nantinya akan memberikan manfaat bagi CV. Studio Reka Teknik yang bergerak dalam bidang pembangunan konstruksi dalam menganalisis stabilitas tanah yang bermasalah dalam proyek konstruksi di Palembang ini.

Abstract

Masjid sebagai ruang komunal untuk beribadah dan ruang kegiatan multi fungsi seperti pusat pendidikan keagamaan, kajian dan diskusi memerlukan ruang aman dan nyaman agar fungsinya terpenuhi. Salah satu elemen ruang yang perlu mendapat perhatian adalah area wudhu sebagai bagian thaharah. Namun, kondisi keterbatasan lahan pembangunan di sekitar area masjid yang berada di tengah permukiman warga menjadi kendala dalam proses pelaksanaan pengembangan. Apalagi sebelum pelaksanaan, perencanaan pengembangan ditinjau dari aspek arsitektur dan aspek struktur sipil harus dilakukan. Perencanaan tidak hanya harus memenuhi estetika dan tata ruang sehingga tercipta kenyamanan. Namun, secara struktural bangunan mampu menahan beban rencana. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang diusung oleh tim pengabdian bertujuan untuk merencanakan pembangunan tempat wudhu Masjid Al – Irsyad. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian berupa deskriptif analisis. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian, diharapkan dokumen perencanaan yang telah disusun oleh tim pengabdian dapat digunakan dalam pembangunan dengan tetap mengindahkan keindahan, kenyamanan, dan kekokohan bangunan dalam konsep low cost budgeting.
