The method is qualitative research. Interview, observation, and document analysis were used to collect data. This study has found that two pesantren educated their students with moderate values. Abstract

Confronting the challenges posed by COVID-19 has given rise to a distinctive reality involving religious leaders acting as mediators, bridging the practices of devout followers with religious doctrines and government initiatives. This study explores the approaches adopted by religious leaders affiliated with the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) in Medan City to combat COVID-19. Employing a qualitative methodology with verstehen theory as the analytical framework, this research reveals that these leaders tackled the threats of COVID-19 by providing assistance and restructuring worship practices. Notably, their actions were guided by a commitment to community safety rather than strict adherence to religious doctrines. The prioritization of humanity over religious interests aligns with the government's efforts to address the pandemic. A noteworthy outcome is observed in communities previously marked by intolerance, as individuals, despite differing beliefs, unite in an everyday movement, fostering a culture of tolerance. Consequently, tolerance emerges as a humanitarian response catalyzed by the pandemic, underscoring its significance as a fundamental aspect of compassionate awareness during these challenging times.

Abstract

Mental health is a multidimensional aspect of human well-being, encompassing emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual components. In religiously devout societies such as Indonesia, spiritual and communal values deeply influence how mental health is perceived and addressed. This study explores psychospiritual and socioreligious approaches to mental health by comparing Islamic and Christian perspectives. Through a qualitative-descriptive method and library-based research, the study draws upon classical theological texts, scriptural sources, and contemporary literature to analyze religious coping mechanisms, core spiritual values, and their integration into mental well-being. Findings reveal that Islam emphasizes al-nafs al-muṭma’innah (the tranquil soul), achieved through tazkiyat al-nafs (self-purification), devotion, and social responsibility. Christianity, meanwhile, centers on shalom (divine peace), fostered through personal relationship with God, hope, and communal worship. Both traditions offer distinct but complementary coping strategies that connect inner resilience with faith-based practices and collective religious life. By situating mental health within theological and sociocultural frameworks, this study contributes to the development of integrative models that bridge psychological care, spiritual meaning, and community-based support—particularly in multireligious and culturally rooted contexts.

Abstract

This study explores the political education program of the United Development Party (Partai Persatuan Pembangunan/PPP) in Deli Serdang Regency and its role in shaping the political awareness and participation of local communities. The research is driven by the question: How does PPP contribute to political socialization and civic engagement in Deli Serdang through its political outreach and organizational strategies? Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with PPP officials, community members, and political observers, as well as document analysis of party programs and local government reports. The findings reveal that PPP’s political programs—such as public forums, youth engagement activities, and religious-cultural events—have provided a structured platform for increasing political literacy, fostering democratic values, and promoting civic responsibility among constituents. However, the impact of these programs varies across demographic groups and is often constrained by limited resources and partisan fragmentation. The study concludes that while PPP's initiatives have contributed meaningfully to community-level political development, greater institutional support and broader participation are essential for sustained impact and inclusivity in the political process.

Abstract

Plurality in Indonesia has been dealt with a variety of religious sects that hold ‘controversial’ concepts of aqidah (religious creeds). Example includes the Qadiani Ahmadiyya and the Jehovah's Witnesses. This paper aims to study the core of religious teachings of the two sects, and how they are different from the mainstream. This work is a qualitative research with a comparative method, used to explore the diversity of religious understandings of the sects under study. This work found that both sects share some similarities as well as differences. concludes that there are similarities and differences between the two. The Qadiani Ahmadiyya denies Muhammad as the last messenger and believes that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who is a prophet, and has received God’s revelation. Meanwhile, the Jehovah's Witnesses rejects the doctrine of Trinity and hellfire, believing that mankind will live eternally and God almighty will not torment people forever in hell. It can be concluded that these understandings are considered unique and often seen as deviating from the mainstream teachings.
