Abstract

Legal politics is an intent statement of the state authorities regarding the law that will be applied in their territory. In terms of state administration in Indonesia, legal politics means a legal policy that will be implemented nationally covering the aspects needed in the lawmaking. It is undeniable that Indonesia, which is the largest Moslem population in the world, determines the direction of its political policies and is definitely influenced by the dynamics of the Islamic flow and views of its citizens. So it is common in Indonesia that the term of Islamic law politics appears. The Islamic legal politics can be described into two ways, firstly as a legal product initiated by fiqh mujtahids, and secondly as a policy born from political experts in realizing benefit in order to face the times. Although the Republic of Indonesia (RI) does not constitutionally declare itself as a religious state, the implementation of Islamic law will continue to be pursued and encouraged to create law enforcement and social order based on ethics and values of Islamic teachings. Keywords: Islamic legal politics, legal dynamics, Indonesia

Abstract

Early marriage is a social phenomenon that often occurs in many countries, including Indonesia. The phenomenon of early marriage is like an iceberg, but in reality, if we trace the history of early marriage, there are certainly many causes. In fact, there are extramarital marriages carried out by the younger generation and this often occurs due to economic problems, level of education, cultural practices and loss of religious values. There is a negative stigma against women who marry at an early age. Marriage is a strong bond to become a sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah family, which is structured according to legal principles, both Islamic law and state law. Marriage law regulates the limits on those who may marry, material requirements, and age limit provisions contained in Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage as amended by Law Number 16 of 2019. This article will discuss official marriage in Islamic law.

Abstract

Not a few Muslims and Muslim women still go to shamans to ask for help and it is a sad thing that Islam with its noble and rational teachings has negated things that are irrational. Therefore, in collaboration with Radio EMC  97.8 FMPuspita Radja Yogyakarta, the ‘Mutiara Ramadhan 1445 Hijriyah’ activity was held. The big theme raised is related to the faith chapter, while the sub-theme of the discussion outlined is related to magic and shamanism. Through radio media and other supporting multimedia devices such as YouTube live streaming, it is hoped that the target segmentation, apart from parents, is the younger generation. The methods used are lectures and interactive dialogue (question and answer). The audience in this activity found it very useful because it helped them increase their understanding of religion, especially the pure Islamic faith. Keywords: Islamic creed; Multimedia Studies; Da'wah.

Abstract

This article explores the contestation of religious identity at the Masjid Gedhe ‘Grand Mosque’ of Kauman Yogyakarta, a provincial cultural heritage site in Yogyakarta. The study focuses on two events between October 2019 and March 2020: the rejection of the Muslim United #2 event by the Keraton ‘Palace’ and the refusal by the local Kauman community to hold a Nahdhatul Ulama anniversary at the mosque. The series of events can be read as an effort by each party to contest the power they have. This research is a descriptive study guided by a constructivist research philosophy and historical approach, which focuses on understanding cultural identity through the lens of social context. The study employs a combination of primary sources, such as photo archives and documents, alongside secondary sources, including articles from online news portals, to analyze two specific events. Data is collected through these sources and analyzed using Stuart Hall's cultural identity theory, providing a framework for interpreting the findings and examining how religious identity is contested at the Masjid Gedhe Kauman Yogyakarta. The result highlights how the Masjid Gedhe Kauman Yogyakarta became a contested space for religious identity between different groups, with each event reflecting ongoing power dynamics and cultural negotiations. The rejection of both the Muslim United #2 and the NU Anniversary events illustrates how identity is shaped and contested through representation and authority, where power structures, both institutional and community-based, played key roles in defining the mosque's religious and cultural identity.

Abstract

The Ahmadiyya Congregation is an international Islamic organization founded in Qadian, India, in 1889 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Until now, this organization has expanded to more than 200 countries, including Indonesia. The highest leadership in this organizational structure is held by the Khalīfatul Masih (Promised Successor) who is currently based in London, England. Meanwhile, in each country, this organization is led by a National Amir who acts as the Chairman of the Central Board. The caliphate system adopted by the Ahmadiyya Congregation is believed to be a continuation of the Khilafah 'alā Minhājin Nubuwwah, with the main characteristic of being apolitical. The question is, this organization prohibits the establishment of political parties or the formation of a state based on their version of the caliphate system. The caliphate model of the Ahmadiyya Congregation is interesting to study because it has similarities with the Papal system in the Vatican. The process of electing the caliph is carried out through deliberation and consensus, although historically this position continues to be held by the descendants of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Their organizational structure is very hierarchical, where every decision and instruction from the caliph must be obeyed. The caliph is considered a figure chosen by God through human intermediaries, so that his attitudes and behavior are used as examples in social, sharia, and worship aspects. Rejecting the teachings of the caliph in this context is seen as a form of understanding of religion. The Ahmadiyya Community believes that the institution of the Khalīfatul Masih will continue until the end of time.

Abstract
