Abstract

This research aims to determine the nest density and population of orangutans and the characteristics of orangutan nests in the Lapak Jaru Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The method used is strip transect, namely by making a path 1000 m long and 20 m wide on each side of the path and a total of 10 lanes. The calculation results of the average density of orangutan nests at the research location were 30.99 nests/km2 and the Orangutan population is estimated at 29.36 Orangutan individuals. The type of tree where most nests are found is Merawan (Silver sp), Meranti (Shorea sp), and Bumps/Bleeding (Santiria corferta) and based on the most dominant family is the Dipterocarpaceae family. The height of the tree where orangutans nest is 11-15 m with a percentage of 21.67%. The most commonly found diameter of nesting trees is 11-20 cm in diameter with a percentage of 64.67%. The nest height most preferred by orangutans is 16-20 m with a percentage of 28.30%. The most frequently found orangutan nest class is class 3 with a percentage of 35.85% and class 4 with a percentage of 33.96%, and the most frequently found orangutan nest position in the research location is position 2 with a percentage of 37.74%.

Abstract

Telegram has significant potential as a virtual teaching tool in mathematics education due to its various advantages over other applications. This study aims to identify, review, and evaluate relevant research on the use of Telegram in mathematics learning, using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The process involves several stages: a) problem formulation, where the researchers define the problem to be explored in depth based on the selected topic, and b) applying the PRISMA approach for article screening. The initial search yielded 5,205 relevant articles. The findings indicate that Telegram users can leverage various advanced features to support their daily activities, including in education. One standout feature is Telegram BOT, which has been proven to effectively respond to user queries and commands, as shown in the study by Soeroso, Afrianto, Mayangsari, and Taali (2017). The implications of this research suggest that Telegram holds great potential as an interactive learning tool, particularly in supporting virtual mathematics instruction. Furthermore, Telegram's adaptability and ease of use make it an accessible option for teachers and students. Future studies are encouraged to explore its integration with other educational technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Abstract

Kalimantan has 222 species of mammals and 44 of them are endemic. This study aims to calculate the diversity and determine the number of large mammal species that exist in the UPT area. Natural Laboratory of Peat Forest (LAHG) Sebangau University of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. The results of the research are There are 5 types of large mammals found through observation and interviews, namely Gibbon (Hylobates albibarbis), Classi (Presbytis baricunda), Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), Wild boar (Sus barbatus) and Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus). Diversity Index of large mammal species in the UPT Area. Large mammal species diversity index in the UPT area. The Sebangau Peat Forest Nature Laboratory (LAHG) showed that it was classified as low, namely 0.97, the species richness index of large mammals in the UPT area. The Sebangau Peat Forest Nature Laboratory (LAHG) is classified as low, namely 0.96. The low number of individuals found in swamp and lowland habitats is related to the insufficient availability of feed in these habitats. This is caused by environmental conditions, namely peat swamps which are always wet and stagnant. And the index of evenness of large mammal species in the UPT area. The Sebangau Peat Forest Nature Laboratory (LAHG) is classified as high, namely 0.88. This has caused the discovery of mammals in the LAHG area to appear evenly distributed because there is no dominance between each species in the community.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the differences in morphology, growth and yield of simplicia galangal in several sub-districts in Bangkalan. This research uses a purposive sampling method where the determination of sample locations is carried out based on the snowball sampling. The results of this research show that the morphological characters of galangal in Socah, Geger and Kamal have no differences in characteristics of the leaf color, leaf shape, leaf tip, leaf base, leaf surface, stem type, stem color, stem shape, stem surface, root type, root shape, root color, rhizome skin color and rhizome flesh color. The results of the Independent T Test with a level of 95% on the growth and production parameters of galangal show that there are differences in root length in Socah and Geger for the number of leaves, number of roots and root length in Kamal and Socah. Meanwhile, in Geger and Kamal, there are differences in the number of leaves, plant height and number of roots. The yield of the rhizome simplicia of the galangal shows that there are differences between Geger and Kamal District.

Abstract

Climate change poses serious challenges to agricultural production, particularly for smallholder farmers who depend on climate-sensitive farming systems. Increasing climate variability, irregular rainfall patterns, and prolonged dry seasons have heightened the vulnerability of agricultural activities, especially in dryland areas. This study aims to identify climate change adaptation strategies adopted by household farmers and analyze the factors influencing their adoption in Sumenep Regency, East Java. Primary data were collected from 120 farmers using a multistage sampling technique through structured interviews covering farmers’ socio-economic characteristics and adaptation practices. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to identify the types of adaptation strategies implemented by farmers, while a Multivariate Probit model was applied to examine the determinants of farmers’ adoption decisions. The results show that farmers implement several adaptation strategies with different adoption levels. Crop rotation is the most widely adopted strategy, followed by adjusting planting times and using climate-resistant crop varieties. In contrast, water-saving irrigation is the least adopted strategy due to limited irrigation infrastructure. The econometric results indicate that farming experience, participation in farmer groups, and access to mobile banking significantly influence farmers’ decisions to adopt climate adaptation strategies. Strengthening farmer institutions, improving financial inclusion, and enhancing agricultural extension services are therefore crucial to improve farmers’ adaptive capacity and promote more resilient agricultural systems in climate-vulnerable regions.

Abstract

Food insecurity remains a persistent challenge among rural agricultural households, particularly among smallholder farmers whose livelihoods depend on unstable agricultural markets and limited institutional support. In dairy-producing regions of Indonesia, contract farming has emerged as a potential institutional mechanism to improve farmers’ market access and stabilize income. However, empirical evidence on how participation in dairy contract farming affects household resilience to food insecurity remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors influencing smallholder dairy farmers’ decisions to participate in contract farming and to examine differences in household food insecurity between contract farming participants and non-participants in Malang Regency, East Java. This study uses primary data collected from 100 smallholder dairy farming households through direct interviews using a multistage sampling technique in two dairy production centers: Pujon and Jabung. A Probit regression model was applied to analyze the determinants of contract farming adoption, and an independent-samples t-test was used to examine differences in household food insecurity, measured using the Food Insecurity Experience Scale. The results show that education and access to credit significantly influence farmers’ participation in contract farming. Education has a negative and significant effect, indicating that farmers with higher levels of formal education are less likely to participate in contract farming, whereas access to credit has a positive and significant effect, suggesting that financial resources facilitate farmers’ engagement in contractual production systems. Furthermore, the results reveal that dairy farmers participating in contract farming experience significantly lower levels of food insecurity compared to non-contract farmers. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening institutional market arrangements and improving farmers’ access to financial services to enhance the resilience of smallholder dairy farming households to food insecurity.
