Abstract

Both handling and slaughtering of cattle in government and private abattoirs are varied technically. The aim of this study was to describe and to analyze variation of both handling and slaughtering techniques of cattle in abattoirs, and their effects to the meat yielded. A total of 72 local-cross cattle which is collected from 7 slaughterhouses in three provinces of Indonesia were used. Data of handling and slaughtering techniques wasdescribed, whereas carcass weight, carcass percentage, and non-carcass percentage were analyzed using T test. The results proved various processes of slaughtering processes including knocking-down of the cattle, dressing (skinning and gutting), cutting of oxtail, evisceration, carcass splitting, and trimming of subcutaneous fat were observed in this study. Approximately 63.64% of knocking-down of the cattle was supported by restraining box and stunning, 57.14% of skinning activity was done by hanging up the carcass, and evisceration process wasalso done by hanging up the carcass (85.71%). Tail docking, carcass parts, and trimming of subcutaneous fat are related to the carcass and non-carcass production. By comparing our data and SNI No.3932:2008, carcass productivity and carcass percentage were not significant statistically, however, the differences were observed quantitatively. Furthermore, tail percentage was found to be significantly different with SNI No.3932:2008 (P<0.05). In addition, our simulation discovered excess of meat production in the A, C, and D abattoirs, on theother hand, estimations of meat production in E, F, G abattoirs were deficit compared to SNI No.3932:2008. In conclusion, the larger scale of slaughterhouse could increase the estimation of meat production differences.

Abstract

This study explores how deep learning (DL) technologies, particularly those integrated into tools such as automatic speech recognition (ASR), text-to-speech (TTS), and AI-powered pronunciation applications, can transform speaking instruction by introducing a new pedagogical paradigm. Through a qualitative, literature-based methodology, this research analyzes thirty peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal that DL tools significantly enhance learners’ pronunciation, rhythm, and fluency through real-time feedback and adaptive learning paths. In addition, these tools contribute to affective gains by reducing speaking anxiety and increasing learner motivation. However, challenges such as algorithmic bias, limited effectiveness in pragmatic discourse, and a lack of teacher training remain significant barriers to full integration. The discussion highlights the shifting role of TEFL instructors from content deliverers to facilitators of technology-enhanced learning environments. The study also emphasizes the importance of considering ethical implications and ensuring data privacy when implementing DL applications. Recommendations are provided for educators, institutions, and researchers to foster effective, equitable, and sustainable use of DL in language education. By bridging the gap between AI technologies and pedagogical practice, this paper proposes a forward-looking framework that positions deep learning not merely as a tool but as a transformative force in TEFL speaking instruction.

Abstract

Bullying remains a persistent issue in educational settings, with serious consequences for students’ emotional well-being and academic engagement. This study examines the impact of bullying on students’ willingness to speak, identifies the specific aspects of speaking most affected, and explores the coping strategies employed by victims. A qualitative descriptive case study was conducted with five purposively selected students who had experienced bullying. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews to explore the students’ classroom anxiety in depth. The findings reveal that bullying-induced anxiety significantly reduces students’ willingness to participate in classroom discussions and impairs their verbal communication skills, particularly pronunciation, vocabulary use, and overall confidence. Coping responses varied, with some students relying on self-affirmation while others adopted proactive strategies to manage their anxiety, highlighting the complexity of individual adaptation. This study, though limited to a small sample, provides valuable insights into the nuanced experiences of bullying victims in a higher education context. The results emphasize the importance for English language educators to create supportive classroom environments, implement anxiety-reducing speaking activities, and for institutions to develop anti-bullying initiatives. These implications contribute to both pedagogical practice and policy development aimed at fostering inclusive and resilient learning spaces.

Abstract

Trademark disputes in Indonesia reveal persistent tensions between the first-to-file principle and the protection of well-known marks. Although the constitutive registration system aims to ensure legal certainty, its rigid application has generated inconsistent judicial outcomes when confronted with internationally recognized trademarks. This study examines the normative weaknesses of Indonesia’s trademark dispute resolution framework and proposes a reconstructed legal model to harmonize registration-based protection with reputation-based recognition. This research employs a normative juridical method supported by statute, case, and comparative approaches. Primary legal materials include the Indonesian Trademark and Geographical Indications Law, relevant international instruments, and selected judicial decisions. Comparative analysis is conducted with Singapore, Malaysia, the European Union, and the United States to identify best practices in recognizing well-known marks. The findings indicate three principal deficiencies: the absence of clear standards for assessing distinctiveness, the lack of codified objective criteria for recognizing well-known marks, and insufficient statutory parameters for determining bad faith registration. These weaknesses contribute to fragmented judicial interpretations and reduced legal predictability. The study proposes normative reconstruction through the incorporation of measurable indicators—such as consumer recognition, duration of use, market share, and advertising intensity—alongside explicit formulation of bad faith criteria and strengthened jurisprudential consistency. Such reform is essential to enhance legal certainty, protect brand equity, align Indonesia with international intellectual property standards, and foster sustainable economic development in a globalized market.
