Abstract

The diversity of cultures, tribes, races, religions, characters, and backgrounds in schools is the potential for differences in behavior, attitudes, or opinions. Meanwhile, students have the freedom to interact with peers. Supervision cannot be carried out continuously by the school. Every interaction between students, that's when bullying usually happens with each other. This action can occur between individuals, individuals with groups, groups with groups, and so on. Lack of understanding among students so this behavior continues to occur repeatedly. The lack of effort made coupled with habits that are difficult to change. Therefore, strong efforts are needed to minimize bullying. This article provides solutions for handling bullying in the school environment by involving various policymakers. From the results of the study, it was determined that Multicultural Education can be implemented at every level of education. The curriculum is regulated by requiring multicultural lessons to be required. The goal is to provide understanding as well as the practice of mutual respect for fellow human beings. Maximizing education about forms of bullying will reduce their actions. Students will consciously understand each other better and understand that the behavior can harm others.

Abstract

Deforestation is one of the environmental challenges faced by the global community today, and excessive exploitation of forest resources and land conversion are among the causes of this issue. Utilizing local wisdom to preserve the forest's functions is a significant step toward achieving ecological and economic harmony in forest management in Indonesia. This research aims to unveil the local wisdom of the community in utilizing forest and land resources in the Kalumammang village protected forest area. A combination of qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods is employed in this study, using terrestrial survey data collection, interviews, and geographic information systems. The research results indicate that there are two types of forest resource utilization, namely Logging and Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). There are six objectives for land utilization, which include agriculture, plantations, livestock farming, settlements, public facilities, and village social facilities. Local wisdom with conservation value is evident in the use of forest plants for hunting, determining the age of hunted animals, protecting water sources around livestock farming areas, using organic fertilizers, and implementing agroforestry practices in agricultural and plantation land management.Keyword: Protected Forest, Local Wisdom, Forest and Land Resources

Abstract

Degradation and deforestation of mangrove forests in South Sulawesi continues due to high dependence and unsustainable use of mangrove ecosystem services. Therefore, considering decisions in efforts to protect and sustainably manage mangrove forests is needed. This research aims to formulate policies related to the protection and sustainable management of mangroves due to the degradation and deforestation of mangrove forests in South Sulawesi using the DPSIR (Driver, Pressure, State, Impacts, and Response) approach, with a case study of the Takalar Regency mangrove forest. Data collection includes secondary and primary data, which includes field observations and interviews with questionnaires to local communities (150 respondents) using purposive sampling. Moreover, semi-structured interviews were conducted with local governments (1 respondent), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) (1 respondent), and mangrove experts from university (2 respondents) and then tabulated and analyzed using the DPSIR approach. The results show that several policy recommendations that can be considered in reducing pressure, improving the condition of mangrove forests, and reducing the impacts, are as follows: (1) carrying out mangrove rehabilitation and restoration efforts, (2) establishing natural conservation zones and green belts, (3) implementing sustainable mangrove utilization practices and developing integrative management plans (4) increasing community participation, knowledge, and access to education, (5) creating alternative forms of employment, (6) increasing awareness about the need to carry out assessments regarding the economic benefits of mangroves, (7) encouraging the development of payment schemes for ecosystem services, (8) developing and implementing an environmentally friendly integrated mangrove cultivation system (silvo-fishery model), (9) establishing a policy and legislative framework for the protection and management of mangroves, (10) ensuring legal certainty and enforcement, (11) eliminating all existing and ongoing forms of subsidies or incentives that can cause degradation or loss of mangroves, and (12) supporting and encouraging the development of mangrove ecotourism. Keywords: DPSIR, Mangrove Forests, Deforestation, Sustainable Management, South Sulawesi

Abstract

Seaweed cultivation in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi, has not experienced significant development as in neighboring Polewali Mandar and Mamuju Regency. This can be seen from the absence of active seaweed cultivation activities in Majene Regency. The aim of this research is to assess the physical and chemical aspects of water to determine the suitability of locations for cultivating Eucheuma cottonii seaweed in Majene waters. The method used to measure ecological suitability included parameters such as temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, phosphate, nitrate and salinity. Subsequently, the data is scored to determine suitability classes: suitable (S1) with values ranging from 37 to 48, moderately suitable (S2) with values between 36 and 25 and non sultable (S3)/N) with value 25. The results showed that after applying weighting and scoring, locations such as East Banggae, Pamboang 1, Tubo Sendana, and Sendana 2 showed suitable scoring result with scores of 39, 39, 40, and 40. While locations such as Pamboang 2, Pamboang 3, Malunda, and Sendana 1 showed moderately suitable scoring results with scores of 33, 33, 34 and 36. Majene waters have potential areas for seaweed cultivation based on classes S1 (suitable) and S2 (moderately suitable). Keywords:SeaweedMajene WatersLocation SuitabilityWater QualityAquaculture

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of integrating Google Earth Engine (GEE) into a STEM-based learning framework to enhance the spatial thinking skills of geography undergraduates. A quasi-experimental design involving 60 students was implemented, with one class assigned to the experimental group receiving GEE-integrated STEM instruction and the other to the control group receiving conventional instruction. Spatial thinking outcomes were measured using pretest–posttest cognitive assessments and four performance indicators: spatial representation, spatial relation, spatial analysis, and spatial application. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, paired-sample t-tests, independent-sample t-tests, Cohen’s d effect size, and ANCOVA controlling for pretest scores. The results indicate that the experimental group achieved significantly higher posttest scores than the control group (t(58) = 10.24, p < 0.001), with a large effect size (d = 2.64). ANCOVA further confirmed the robustness of the treatment effect after adjusting for initial differences (F(1,57) = 101.99, p < 0.001). Indicator-level analysis also showed consistent improvement across all spatial thinking components. This study is limited by its single-institution context, quasi-experimental design, and potential novelty effects associated with geospatial technology integration. Future research should involve larger and more diverse samples to validate these findings.
