Abstract

This study analyses the susceptibility to landslides in Conto Village, Bulukerto Subdistrict, Wonogiri Regency. Through mapping and modelling, the research identifies factors influencing landslide vulnerability. The findings reveal that Conto Village has a Moderate level of susceptibility, covering an area of 486.96 hectares or 42.93%. The northern part of the village exhibits the highest vulnerability, attributed to slopes exceeding 45 degrees. Primary factors include slope steepness and soil type. A landslide susceptibility map is generated as a pre-emptive guide to avoid vulnerable areas, while governmental efforts such as constructing slope-retaining walls are identified as preventive measures. These findings are anticipated to enhance the preparedness of the community and government in addressing landslide risks in Conto Village, providing guidance for similar regions. Through the implementation of these measures, it is expected to minimize the impact of landslide disasters and contribute to sustainable development in the area.

Abstract

Democracy is a political system that has been adopted by practically every country in the world over the course of history. Freedom and equal rights are not just important political ideals in liberal countries, but they are also important in communist countries, which are known as people's democracies.. While our country adheres to the political system of Pancasila democracy, Indonesia follows the political system of Pancasila democracy, i.e., the original democracy of the Indonesian nation with the values contained in it derived from the Indonesian people's philosophy of life, and whose implementation is written in the preamble and body of the 1945 Constitution.

Abstract

Analysis of the carrying capacity of agricultural land is one of the evaluation tools for sustainable development that can provide an overview of the relationship among population, agricultural land and the environment. This research aims to analyse the carrying capacity of agricultural land in each village in Mojolaban Subdistrict. Analysis of the carrying capacity of land in this research uses a concept developed by Sumarwoto (1985) where the magnitude of the carrying capacity of agricultural land is inversely proportional to population pressure. The results show that the carrying capacity of agricultural land in Mojolaban Subdistrict is inversely proportional to the population compressive pressure on agricultural land. Generally, the carrying capacity for agricultural land in Mojolaban Subdistrict is low level. There are 11 villages (73%) which have low carrying capacity for agricultural land and only 4 villages (27%) which have high carrying capacity of agricultural land.

Abstract

Climate change is a global challenge affecting various aspects of life, including family resilience. Women’s communities, particularly members of Aisyiyah in Jaten District, have significant potential to lead family resilience efforts in addressing climate change. The impacts of climate change, such as extreme temperature rises and unstable weather patterns, affect the agricultural sector, a primary source of livelihood. Women, who are often responsible for household food production, face additional burdens due to food and water shortages. Therefore, a community empowerment program is essential, focusing on education about climate change, adaptation, and mitigation, alongside training in environmentally-based economic activities. The activities include composting, liquid fertilizer production, and crafting handicrafts from economically valuable waste. The program aims to enhance community members' understanding of climate change impacts, improve mitigation skills, and promote community welfare through household waste management. The introduction of simple technologies such as composters, organic liquid fertilizers, and accessories from organic waste received positive responses from the community, providing education and motivation for direct waste management practices.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the impact of globalization on the teaching style of geography teachers in Indonesia. The main focus of this research is to identify the extent to which globalization influences four key parameters in teaching: technology adaptation, multiculturalism, global literacy and skills, and educational standards and evaluation. The method used is a survey involving 100 geography teachers from 19 provinces in Indonesia, who assessed their responses to these parameters using a Likert scale. The regression analysis results show that globalization has a significant impact on teaching styles, with a regression coefficient of 0.7486, meaning that every increase in adaptation to globalization enhances the teaching style by 0.7486 units. The R² value of 60.40% and the adjusted R² of 58.78% indicate that around 60% of the variation in teaching style can be explained by the influence of globalization. These findings suggest that globalization encourages teachers to integrate technology into their teaching, promote multicultural values, and apply international educational standards. This study concludes that the influence of globalization on teaching styles in Indonesia is substantial and fosters an improvement in the quality of geography education. Keywords: Globalization, Teaching Style, Geography Teachers

Abstract

Abstract: One of the challenges in realizing food security in Indonesia is the high rate of population growth which has implications for increasing consumption and decreasing agricultural land area due to land conversion. This study aims to analyze the carrying capacity of food in the Baki Sub-District as an important aspect of regional food security. From the geographical aspect, this study aims to spatially analyze the carrying capacity of food in the Baki Sub-District. Data were collected and analyzed by mathematical formulas to obtain conclusions about the carrying capacity of food. Spatial analysis was carried out using a geographic information system (GIS). The results showed that most of the Baki Sub-District area still has a high food carrying capacity. Areas that have high food carrying capacity are generally located in the southern part of the Baki Sub-District. Village areas close to Surakarta City are affected in the form of regional development, but have an impact on the conversion of agricultural land into residential land, thereby reducing the carrying capacity of food.

Abstract

Forest management activities inevitably affect environmental functions and community well-being, necessitating rigorous impact monitoring to improve management practices. The Indonesian National Forest Stewardship Standards (NFSS) provide structured guidelines to balance timber production with environmental protection. This study evaluates the comprehension and application of these standards in forest harvesting planning, implementation, and impact assessment. A quantitative descriptive method was employed, integrating questionnaires, field observations, and interviews with field staff from a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified forest concession in West Papua, Indonesia. Respondents included staff involved in forest planning, production and logging road construction, silviculture and environmental monitoring, and community development. Data were collected using NFSS-based questionnaires and analyzed using the Likert scale method. In addition, triangulation was conducted via field observations at harvesting sites, document reviews (forest management procedures, High Conservation Value report, Social Impact Assessment report, and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan report), and interviews to validate questionnaire findings. The results show an average Likert score of 83.91% across five key variables (baseline environmental data, Reduced Impact Logging (RIL) map presence, RIL implementation, human resources, and impact monitoring and adaptation), indicating a strong understanding of NFSS standards. However, challenges remain in enhancing community engagement, implementing best management practices, strengthening supervision and impact monitoring techniques, and developing adaptive strategies for sustainable forest management. Abstract

This research examines the typology of ecotourism development in Indonesia through a scoping review approach by analyzing 37 scientific articles. The results show seven main categories of ecotourism development: education-based, regional or local potential, community, local wisdom, national regulation or strategy, conservation, and disaster mitigation. Each category illustrates a specific approach tailored to Indonesia's geographical, social and cultural conditions. Community-based approaches and local wisdom support active community engagement, while conservation and disaster mitigation-based approaches emphasize the importance of environmental preservation in the face of climate change. By combining perspectives from various disciplines, this research offers novelty in systematic mapping of ecotourism management. Analysis of the effectiveness of government policies, more in-depth exploration in less accessible areas, and the use of digital technology in tourism area management are some recommendations for further research. These results can be an important reference for readers around the world who are interested in ecotourism practices in tropical and developing countries. In addition, they can provide guidance to support sustainability for policy makers, academics, and ecotourism practitioners.
