Abstract

This study analyzes the readiness level of Muslim-friendly tourism in the inhabited islands of the Thousand Islands using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method. The focus of the research is on 11 inhabited islands with tourism potential, considering various halal tourism criteria according to the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) standards. The analysis was conducted through field surveys, stakeholder interviews, and documentary studies during the period of January-June 2024. The results show that the priority development sequence based on the ANP supermatrix is as follows: worship facilities, services, access, environment, and communication. Evaluations of key islands such as Tidung, Pramuka, Panggang, Kelapa, and Harapan reveal variations in the readiness of Muslim-friendly facilities and services. A SWOT analysis identifies key strengths, including the Muslim-majority population and the availability of mosques, while major weaknesses include limited infrastructure and a lack of halal certification. Development opportunities are supported by the global halal tourism trend and government support, but face threats from competition with other destinations and the impact of climate change. The study recommends a three-stage development strategy: short-term (facility mapping and basic training), medium-term (infrastructure development and halal certification), and long-term (integration with national halal tourism destinations and branding enhancement). Research limitations include access to secondary data, seasonal variations in visits, and dynamic policy changes.

The Field Work Practice activities for students in the Sharia Banking Study Program at the Islamic University of Depok were conducted at the branch offices of several National Banks and Sharia Rural Bank (Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah (BPRS)) in the Depok City area, involving sixth-semester students for one month in July and August 2025. The mentoring methods included initial briefing, observation, coaching, report writing, and evaluation of student learning performance. The results showed that the majority of students experienced improvements in their understanding of work processes, interdepartmental relationships, discipline, self-confidence, courage, adaptability and communication and teamwork skills. This Field Work Practice activity is considered effective as a means of helping improve the competency of university graduates who are ready to work.

Abstract

This study analyzes the potential, challenges, and strategies for developing community-based halal tourism on the inhabited islands of Kepulauan Seribu from a sustainable tourism perspective. Using a mixed methods approach with 200 respondents across four islands (Tidung, Pramuka, Harapan, Pari), this research finds that despite strong stakeholder support (84% community members, 89% business operators) and significant market potential, halal tourism implementation faces substantial challenges including limited infrastructure, inadequate understanding of the concept, minimal halal certification (7.4% homestays, 23% food stalls), and overtourism issues that exceed carrying capacity by up to 300% during peak seasons. The analysis reveals that only 34% of respondents comprehensively understand halal tourism beyond food and places of worship. The research recommends an integrated development model with five pillars: institutional framework and regulations, human resource capacity building, sustainable infrastructure, spiritual-conservation tourism product innovation, and digital marketing. This model has the potential to increase tourism revenue by IDR 36.75-61.25 billion per year while preserving the environment and empowering local communities, positioning Kepulauan Seribu as a model for sustainable small island halal tourism in Indonesia.

Abstract

In everyday life, we often unknowingly engage in muamalah practices that may not be fully in accordance with the teachings of Islam. However, these practices have become a long-standing common habit in society. Islam, as the last religion, provides guidelines for all aspects of human life in the world, including dealing with fellow human beings. Although 'urf is not always agreed upon by all scholars, in fiqh, 'urf is often used as a legal basis in various aspects of daily life that are constantly evolving. This study aims to explore how 'urf is applied in payment practices in many restaurants and food stalls in Indonesia. By using the rules of 'urf in everyday muamalah, customs that may not be fully compliant with sharia law do not always need to be changed. This can provide convenience and comfort when transacting in society without causing difficulties or conflicts.
