Abstract

The residents of Bukur hamlet use water that is still classified as inadequate to meet their daily needs, especially for drinking water sources because there is contamination from the pipe system or water heater which is rusty or crosses water with the septic tanks found in Bukur hamlet. During observations and surveys carried out, many local residents still use water that is not suitable for drinking to meet their daily needs. If there is no awareness of how important clean water is and an understanding of making water sanitation equipment as one of the solutions that can be done to obtain clean water, then there will be even deeper problems regarding the health of these residents. This work program activity produces an understanding of how important it is to clean the water used to meet daily needs and produces solutions to obtain clean water through learning to make water sanitation equipment which can prevent users from various diseases that are affected by clean water.

Abstract

This activity is a training activity on strengthening understanding of chemistry through the Learning Management System (LMS). The basis for taking this activity is based on a needs analysis that has been carried out for the MGMP Chemistry teacher in Bantul Regency. A needs analysis was conducted using non-test instruments in the form of open questionnaires and interviews. Based on the needs analysis results, it shows that most teachers experience problems implementing online learning activities so that learning materials cannot be delivered properly. The method used in this activity is formal socialization—offline. The material presented is related to chemistry and applications and the introduction of LMS. LMS: Teachmint is considered to be able to facilitate students and teachers in teaching and learning activities. Teachers can efficiently conduct video conferences, share material in the form of files/videos, provide deadlines for collecting assignments, and assess and even interact with students using only a single platform. This training received a positive response from chemistry teachers; most teachers agreed to use the platform in chemistry learning

Abstract

The production of amylase produced by lactic acid bacteria (LAB) has better stability. The purpose of this study was to utilize and determine the characteristics of LAB isolates from porang skin waste which have the potential as probiotics and the activity of amylase enzymes. Isolation was done by fermentation method for 48 h with the addition of starter Pediococcus acidilactici that had been cultured. The results showed that the number of colonies of N1 isolates was 49 Ă—108 CFU/mL with regular small round colonies, having a convex elevation, the edges of the colonies were round, yellowish white, and Gram positive bacteria because they produced a purple color on Gram staining. Acid resistance test at pH 2.0; 3.0; 4.0; 5.0 and 6.0, the isolates N1 was able to survive at each pH because it showed turbidity in the growth medium. The antimicrobial activity test showed a strong zone of inhibition on S. aureus and S. pyogenes of 10,33 and 11,17 mm and a moderate zone of inhibition on K. pneumoniae, S. dysentriae, and P. aeruginosa, respectively, which was 6,33; 7,7 and 7,5 mm. The positive N1 isolate contained alkaloids as bioactive compounds from the results of phytochemical screening and the results of the FTIR analysis showed that specific groups of alkaloids were N-H, C-N, and C=O at wave numbers 3423.30 cm-1; 1235.45 cm-1; and 1634.81 cm-1.

Abstract

Water cleaning technology using coagulation has already been carried out use a plants in the coagulation process has never been done before, especially using plants that have potential to be a source of natural coagulants is Bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides). Plants that have the potential to be a source of natural coagulants are plants that contain a lot of protein. Each type of protein has an isoelectric point at a different pH like isoelectric point, the protein will have a neutral charge. . The calculation results of the number of colonies in samples were B1, B2, and B3 with dilutions of 266. 105, 9. 107 and 104. 109 CFU/mL. The results of Gram staining identification showed that the B1, B2 and B3 isolates had the shape are basil, basil and coccus (round) with Gram positive. The bacteria thrive in different habitats, so bacteria from the sample have been very cloudy to pH of 6.0 and 8.0 because neutralophiles properties. From the B3 isolate sample have high clear zone for Gram positive (S. aureus) of 13 mm more than Gram negative ( E. coli) of 11 mm. So that, the bandotan is able to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the water

Abstract

In the present study, green synthesis of nickel-doped hydroxyapatite using Clitoria ternatea flower extract, and activity testing as photocatalyst, antibacterial agent and drug delivery agent were performed. Synthesis was conducted by hydrothermal treatment of co-precipitated precursors previously mediated with the extract. As drug delivery agent, immobilization of 5-fluorouracil (5FU) onto the prepared sample was performed by spray-drying method. Physicochemical characterization techniques of X-ray diffraction, UV-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectrophotometry, transmission electron microscopy, Raman and Fourier-Transform Infra-red spectroscopy were performed to determine the structural and surface properties of material. Photocatalytic activity evaluation for tetracycline removal showed that material has capability to reduce concentration by photocatalytic degradation and photocatalytic oxidation. The degradation efficiency of material was 83.78%. The prepared material exhibited a significant activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The material also expressed the potency as a drug-delivery agent of 5-fluorouracil as shown by the reduced CT26 cell viability of more than 85% during 48 hours.
