Abstract

Al-Khalil bin Ahmad al-Farahidi is a key figure in the development of nahwu and sharf. This study examines his contributions to Arabic grammar and its impact on language transformation. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this library research reveals that Al-Khalil played a major role in codifying the Arabic vowel system, classifying words into isim, fi’il, and harf, and introducing key grammatical terms. His influence is evident in Al-Kitâb, written by his student Sibawaih. Additionally, he contributed to phonology, morphology, ‘arudh, and compiled the first Arabic dictionary, Kitāb al-‘Ain. His legacy continues to shape Arabic linguistics academically and in modern education. This study reaffirms Al-Khalil’s fundamental role in Arabic grammar.

Abstract

Learning Shorof for beginners often faces challenges, particularly in understanding word transformation patterns in Arabic. Traditional methods based on memorizing tashrif tables are often difficult to apply contextually. This study aims to analyze the integration of classical and interactive digital media in Shorof learning to enhance students' understanding. Using a qualitative literature study, this research examines the strengths and weaknesses of classical media, such as the Al-Amṡilatu Al-Taṣrīfiyyah book, and the potential of interactive digital media, such as educational videos and online quiz applications. The results show that integrating both media creates a more engaging, dynamic, and contextual learning experience. This approach not only preserves the depth of understanding from classical methods but also enhances student engagement through active interaction. This integration is expected to be an innovative solution for more effective and relevant Shorof learning in the digital era.

Abstract

Nahwu (Arabic grammar) is a crucial branch of Arabic linguistics that has significantly developed through two main schools: Basrah and Kufah. These schools offer differing approaches in establishing grammatical rules, particularly in the application of Qiyas (analogy) and Sima’i (oral transmission). The Basrah school, pioneered by Sibawaih, emphasizes a rational and structured method through Qiyas, while the Kufah school, represented by Al-Kisa’i and Al-Farra’, relies more on linguistic evidence derived from native Arabic usage (Sima’i). This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a library research approach to examine differences in i’rab (grammatical inflection) rules between the two schools. The findings reveal that these differences are not only methodological but also influenced by social, geographical, and political factors. Specific examples include distinctions in assigning i’rab for mubtada’ and khabar, forms in dual and plural nouns, and the role of ‘amil in maf’ul constructions.

Abstract

This study analyzes the financial performance of the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in Gresik Regency during the 2021–2024 period using financial ratio analysis. The objectives are to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of managing zakat, infaq, and alms (ZIS) funds, identify financial growth trends, and examine internal and external factors influencing the institution's performance. A descriptive quantitative method was applied using secondary data from annual financial reports. The results indicate that BAZNAS Gresik's financial performance varied annually, influenced by post-pandemic economic conditions, beneficiary needs, and internal management strategies. In 2021 and 2024, fundraising efficiency was relatively low, while program expenses remained high. However, the institution successfully maintained operational stability and enhanced transparency through technology utilization. It is concluded that BAZNAS Gresik performed reasonably well, with room for improvement in working capital management and fundraising optimization.

Abstract

Abstract

Literature serves as a profound reflection of life, articulating values, emotions, and social criticism through aesthetic language. In the modern era, song lyrics have evolved into a potent medium for conveying ideological messages and challenging the status quo. This study investigates the song "Lil Waṭan" by Mashrou’ Leila, a prominent Lebanese alternative-rock band celebrated for their progressive stance on identity and politics. Unlike traditional patriotic anthems, "Lil Waṭan" offers a sharp counter-discourse, critiquing the manipulation of nationalist sentiment by authoritarian powers to suppress dissent. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method grounded in Claude Lévi-Strauss’s structuralist theory, this research analyzes the lyrics as a system of signs to uncover the underlying binary oppositions and social myths embedded within the text. The analysis reveals that the song’s structure is built upon deep tensions between the citizenry and the ruling authority, specifically manifesting through the binary oppositions of "love versus fear" and "genuine nationalism versus false nationalism." The findings demonstrate how the text exposes specific "patterns of silencing," including the use of propaganda to fabricate external conspiracies, the "anesthetization" of the public through ideological lethargy, and the deployment of mass entertainment—symbolized by the command to "dance"—as a distraction from political stagnation. By deconstructing these symbols, the study concludes that Mashrou’ Leila redefines patriotism not as blind submission, but as a critical consciousness that rejects the commodification of the "homeland" for social control. Ultimately, this research highlights how contemporary Arab music functions as a sophisticated literary site for political resistance and social critique
