Abstract

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had a severe impact on people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and their health behaviors. This study investigated the associations between T2D status and mask- wearing behaviors in public settings during the first wave of COVID-19 among community residents in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Outreach health checkups and self-report questionnaires were cross-sectionally conducted to measure mask- wearing behavior, T2D status, and sociodemographic characteristics. Chi- square tests and bivariate and multivariate logistic regression were performed for data analysis. Out of 254 participants, nearly one-fourth (24%) were newly diagnosed with T2D, while 15% reported that they had never been diagnosed with T2D before. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression models had no statistically significant associations between mask-wearing behavior and T2D status. However, Chi-square test results showed significant differences (P=0.02) in percentages of inconsistent mask-wearing behavior among those who were newly diagnosed with T2D (19%), those who had known as T2D (8%), and those who had no T2D (7%). Early diagnostic services and awareness education for T2D are imperative to reduce the disease severity and mortality for future pandemics, particularly among undiagnosed individuals who are unaware of their T2D status.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: HIV/AIDS has become a global problem that continues to increase every year, despite various prevention efforts such as health education and HIV screening. To overcome this challenge, innovative strategies are needed by integrating artificial intelligence and digital technology to develop more effective HIV/AIDS prevention interventions.     Method: The research method used was a desk review or systematic review related to artificial intelligence and machine learning in HIV prevention and PrEP use. The databases used are PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar with study criteria published in 2015-2024. The keywords used are “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and HIV”,“Artificial Intelligence and HIV”, “Machine Learning and HIV, ‘Artificial Intelligence and HIV’ and Systematic Review”, “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in HIV/AIDS Prevention”.                      Results: Based on the results of the review, AI and ML have proven to be effective in improving HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Benefits include the use of digital data to detect at-risk groups, virtual reality programs to help with status disclosure, chatbots for education, and data analysis to understand the causes of transmission and how to prevent it. An HIV prevention chatbot that can aid in prevention messaging, encourage self-testing, and personalized treatment strategies would be transformational in a low-resource setting. Conclusion: AI and ML approaches can be an important solution in improving the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS prevention programs, although they are still at an early stage and face various challenges. Future research should identify the potential of AI and ML to be developed and implemented more widely.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze recent developments in investment practices and outcomes in the digital era. The main focus includes the impact of financial technology (FinTech) adoption on corporate investment efficiency and allocation, the behavior of retail investors increasingly influenced by social media and online trading platforms, as well as the dynamics of sustainable investment (ESG) and its implications for financial performance. In addition, this study highlights policy aspects and managerial practices that are relevant to the changing landscape of modern investment. Based on a synthesis of literature from the past five years, the findings indicate that digitalization—through the use of FinTech and online platforms—has transformed capital allocation mechanisms while also affecting investor decision-making patterns. Meanwhile, empirical evidence regarding the impact of ESG-based investments on corporate performance remains heterogeneous, indicating the need for more comprehensive data and consistent reporting standards. Thus, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the trends, challenges, and implications of investment in the digital era.
