Abstract

This study aims to describe the resilience of students who experience body shaming. This study uses a qualitative method with a narrative approach. This study's informants were five students who experienced body shaming. The results showed that students who experienced body shaming generally did not like their body parts, especially those that often-received body-shaming treatment. Informants internalize environmental assessments that cause them to make their bodies objects/self-objectification. Increased self-objectification causes individuals to become more anxious, feel ashamed, feel inferior, insecure, lack self-confidence, and often reflect and cry. This shows they do not have too good resilience. This study indicates the importance of prevention and intervention programs for students who experience body shaming through guidance and counselling services to achieve effective daily lives.

Abstract

Online gaming is a common problem among adolescents across various countries, often serving as an escape or distraction from academic stress and nomophobia. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between academic stress, nomophobia, and the intensity of online gaming among university students. Employing a quantitative descriptive correlational design, this research involved 304 students selected through convenience sampling. Data was collected using academic stress, nomophobia, and online gaming intensity scales and analyzed using IBM SPSS 25. The results revealed a significant correlation between academic stress and nomophobia with the intensity of online gaming (p < 0.05). Simultaneously, both independent variables explained 95.8% of the variance in online gaming intensity. These findings indicate that both academic stress and nomophobia contribute significantly to excessive online gaming behavior among university students. Consequently, this study recommends the implementation of guidance and counseling programs in higher education institutions to prevent and address online gaming addiction among students.

Abstract

This article will begin with an overview of REBT theory before moving on to a discussion of the ethics governing the field of psychology. This paper will try to answer the question whether Ellis's (1955) REBT theory can be used independently during therapy sessions, or whether it requires a combination of ethics and values to provide the best service to clients or not. Ethical considerations must be applied to the application of theory to improve it and make it more useful in therapy sessions, therefore it is important to determine how well theory can function on its own while still meeting the needs of its clients.

Abstract

This study is being done in Kerinci to find out how people understand and interpret gender and how the five Kerinci men and women are being used as informants based on life guidance, social relationships, perceptions of patriarchy, social behavior, and the woman's dual role. Case studies and phenomenological data are used in this qualitative study. The informants are chosen on purpose. There are five Kerinci men and women with more than one job, such as government workers, business owners, politicians, or people who run home businesses. The results of this study show that in five cases of Kerinci man and wife informants understand and interpret gender as agreement and conformity of man's and woman's function in taking the role based on cultural and religious values, which are Hargo lihi, adat istiadat, raso sgan, raso go, and religiosity, as part of life-guidance, because these values become the binding frame of man and wife in gender implementation. In the five Kerinci man and wife as informants’ case, the double roles of women are seen in the financial development, spiritual gift, motivation, and achievement of themselves and their family. This is because Kerinci people don't stop their wives from working, and their religion lets them do so as long as they keep their hargo lihi, self-esteem, and husband's agreement. Even though there isn't much time to spend at home with your husband in the evening, that doesn't mean it's not good.
