Abstract

Teachers’ ability to compose high quality test is highly important, because with the good quality test, teachers are able to measure precisely the success of the learning process they has done. To be able to know teachers’ ability in composing learning outcome test, the research has been done in order to acquire clear information. The measurement of learning outcomes test quality made by teacher can be seen in test item validity, test reliability, test discriminating power, and test difficulty level. The research result shows that the tests made by Indonesia language teacher are: (a) invalid so it cannot become students’ learning outcomes measuring instrument, (b) it does not have test validity aspect, (c) it does not fulfil test reliability test. Based on the result, intense training related to test composing technique, test quality analysis, and school’s evaluation techniques is necessary.

Abstract

Hybrid instruction is a learning model which combines face-to-face mode and online learning. The use of this method is highly compatible with the teaching of English in Indonesia. This study was set out to investigate the impact of hybrid instruction on students’ reading ability. Results of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the gain score of students in the experimental class and that of their cohort in the control class. In addition, in regard to the students’ motivation to learn using the hybrid instruction, it appeared that the students were highly motivated not only extrinsically but also intrinsically, which meant that both main elements of motivational types according to Self-determination Theory had been addressed

Abstract

This research is aimed to investigate the use of video blog in teaching speaking at the first graders. The researcher used quantitative and qualitative data to investigate the utilization of video blog embedding students’ fluency in speaking skill. There are three research questions accomplished in this study: 1. To what extent does Vlog help foreign language English speakers improve their speaking fluency? 2. What are students’ opinion about using Vlog in performing speaking? 3.  What are students’ suggestion and feedback about using Vlog in performing speaking? This study was conducted in SMAN 4 Kendari at grade X students who are registered in academic year of 2016/2017. The total number of students involved were 39 for both experiment and control class. The sample was taken using purposive sampling for experimental and control class. The instrument of data collection were speaking test, speaking activity and interview. The speaking test was collected by administering pre test to know the students prior speaking skill, treatment which integrating video blog in the teaching and learning process, and post test to find out what improvement happenned on students’ speaking skill in term of fluency. The result shows the significant difference of experiment and control class. The researcher used independent sample t-test in comparing improvement in experiment and control class. Students’interview result also shows how integrating video blog affect their speaking skill, as the additional data to support the speaking test result

Abstract

This study aimed to find whether teaching narrative text by using Jigsaw technique effective for students’ reading comprehension of first graders at SMK 4 Kendari and to describe the students perception about Jigsaw technique. The researcher limited this study on literal and interpretative comprehension. This study was pre experimental design. The population of this study was 97 students (taken from 3 classes of TKJ). Through SPSS 21.0, the researcher gotten the students of TKJ A is the sample of this study. The numbers of sample were 32 students. The instrument of this study was reading test and perception questionnaire. The result of this study showed that Jigsaw technique gave a significant effect on the students reading comprehension at first graders of SMK4 Kendari. It can be seen from the result of SPSS 21.0 (T-Test), it showed the probability value Asymp (Sig. 2 Tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05 ( p ≤ 0.05) and t count was 11.33 > t table (2.039). It means that the second hypothesis (H1) was accepted.

Abstract

This research aims to describe teachers’ perceptions of instructional technology integrating into English language learning. Five aspects are studied: teachers’ perception, competency technology, attitude, experience and barrier of instructional technology integrating into English language learning. This study used descriptive. The population of study was 43 respondents. A sample consisting of 21 teachers were randomly selected from English teachers of SMK Kendari. The result of data analysis showed numerous conclusions. First, most of English teachers were proficient using technology computer. The second, most of English teachers had a positive perception toward instructional technology into English language learning. The third, most of English teachers had a positive attitude toward instructional technology into English language learning, the fourth, the English teachers were sometime and seldom in integrating instructional technology into English language learning, the fifth, there was some barrier in integrating instructional technology into English language learning. It means that even though teachers have a positive perception, a positive attitude of instructional technology integrating into English language learning, unfortunately they sometime and seldom to use technology into English language learning because of same problems namely, they lack of technical support and insufficient internet speed, most parents not in favour to use technology in term of financial, and lack of content technology for teaching

Abstract

Siswa merupakan remaja dengan kondisi emosional yang masih belum stabil dan mudah terpengaruh oleh hal-hal negatif sehingga dapat melakukan perilaku agresif. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku agresif adalah kematangan emosi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan kematangan emosi dengan perilaku agresif pada siswa SMK Negeri 1 Kendari. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 488 siswa kelas 11 SMK Negeri 1 Kendari, dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling diperoleh 83 subjek penelitian. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala kematangan emosi dan skala perilaku agresif. Analisis data statistik menggunakan Uji Analisis Pearson’s Product Moment dengan bantuan SPSS Statistics 24.0 for windows. Hasil uji hipotesis kematangan emosi dengan perilaku agresif menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar -0,615 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,000 (ρ<0,05). Sehingga, dapat disimpulkan terdapat hubungan antara kematangan emosi dengan perilaku agresif.

Abstract

This research aims to explore improving elementary school student learning outcomes through teacher professional development. The research method used is lesson study, where teachers collaborate to design, implement and evaluate lessons on an ongoing basis. The research was conducted by collecting data from elementary school students who implemented lesson study for one semester. The research results showed that there was a significant increase in student learning outcomes after implementing teacher professional development through lesson study. Data analysis shows consistent improvements in student learning outcomes. Apart from that, it was also found that students were more active and involved in the learning process, and were better able to apply the concepts they learned in the context of everyday life. The conclusion of this research is that teacher professional development through lesson study has a significant positive impact on student learning outcomes in elementary schools. Collaboration between teachers in designing and evaluating learning helps increase the effectiveness of teaching and learning. It also emphasizes the importance of continuous professional development for teachers in improving the quality of education.
