Abstract

Every year, goverment incur huge cost for development of facilities and infrastructures oftransportation, especially land transportation development by increasing the road capacity. Thiscapacity expansion is done by widening the road, especially on roads that can no longeraccommodate the volume of vehicles or roads that predicted will be passed by the high volume ofvehicles. Therefore, it is required pavement thickness design solutions that based on a life cyclecost analysis and the lowest consideration of construction resources to the minimum life cycle costdesign. This research was conducted in A. H. Nasution Street, on Metro - Gedung Dalam segment. Todetermine the flexible pavement thickness, this research uses “Manual Desain Perkerasan Jalan02/M/BM/2013”, “Pedoman Perencanaan Tebal Perkerasan Lentur Pt T-01-2002-B” and“Perencanaan Tebal Perkerasan Lentur Jalan Raya dengan Metode Analisa Komponen 387-KPTS-1987 methods”. After that, analyze the road deterioration that will happen during the lifedesign or life cycle design that based on the value of IRI. The results of life cycle design wasdeveloped to get the best pavement type that based on the life cycle cost analysis. From the analysis that has been done, the design with the lowest initial cost is a pavement designby using Bina Marga Pt-T-01-2002-B method, whereas the design with the lowest life cycle cost isa pavement design by using MDPJ 02/M/BM/2013 method and the most optimal pavementthickness. Keywords : flexible pavement, life cycle cost, life cycle design, IRI

Abstract

Roads are the transport infrastructures which play an important role in supporting the economicgrowth of a region. Therefore it is necessary to do maintenance efforts so that the roads canfunction optimally. One of them is by adding overlay. The selection of methods become a factorthat must be considered before doing flexible pavement overlay design. It is because of improperplanning can cause damaged or uneconomical construction of roads. Along with the technologicaladvances, methods of overlay flexible pavement design based on deflection also undergone manymodifications such as“Pedoman Perencanaan Tebal Lapis Tambah Perkerasan Lentur Pd T-05-2005-B”and “Pedoman Interim Perkerasan Jalan Lentur No.002/P/BM/201”. The purpose of thisresearch was to determine the most optimal and most efficient life cyclecost of overlay design inthe roads performance improvement project of Batas Kota Metro-Gedung Dalam. From theanalysis results show that the design results by using Pd T 05-2005-B were thinner than PedomanInterim No.002/P/BM/2011. It was caused by several factors such as the analysis of traffic, temperature correction factor, and the types of materials used. The indicator value of theinternational roughness index (IRI) is predicated by emperical equations and the design life of 20years, obtained the lowest lifecycle costs are the result of design methods Pd T-05-2005-B. Theresults of the analysis also showed that the cost at the end of the design life methods Pd T-05-2005-B less than Pedoman Interim No.002 /P/BM / 2011.Keywords :Road, Overlay, Life Cycle Cost

Abstract

This experiment aims to investigate the Marshall characteristics due to the variation addition ofPET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) at mixtures AC-BC (Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course) finelygraded with reference to the specification of Bina Marga 2010.From the result of aalysis has obtained the values of Marshall parameters, the value of the 1 stobject groups test and 2nd object groups test, for the parameters marshall meets the specificationsalready determined by the Bina Marga 2010 on the asphalt level range 6.38% up 6.5%, and theoptimum bitumen content value has been obtained is 6.44%.This research proves that with the addition of variations of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) in amixture of AC-BC (Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course) was affected to the Marshall characteristics,as high as the levels of addition PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) so the value of stability willincrease but the percentage of the value of void content in the mix will be higher. Keywords: AC-BC(Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course), Marshall, PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate)

Abstract

Utilization of plastic waste can be used as an ingredient added to the binder layer of asphaltconcrete (AC-BC). The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the Marshallparameters due to the addition of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) in the binder layer of asphaltconcrete (AC-BC) using the method of Marshall and refer to the specifications of Highways, 2010.The research was carried out by adding pieces of PET in the asphalt mix using the dry method. Before adding PET to the asphalt mixture, first making a specimen of middle limit gradation andupper limit gradation. The value of Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) obtained in the two groupsof test object is equal to 6.44%. Furthermore, the addition of PET in the asphalt mix on the KAOvalue. PET levels are added to the mixture which is 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% of the weight ofthe asphalt. From the results of the testing and analysis of Marshall, the addition of PET onasphalt concrete binder layer can increase the value of stability. The most of stability value is onthe addition of 2% PET. Value stability due to the addition of PET in the asphalt mix increasedcompared to asphalt mixture without PET. Levels of PET good addition to the asphalt mixture thatis 2% because in addition to high stability values, parameters such as VIM Marshall, VFA, VMA,MQ and Flow also has qualified specification of Highways, 2010.Keywords: AC-BC, PET, stability, Marshall parameter, specification of Highways 2010

Abstract

The growing population and the increasing economic growth in the city of Bandar Lampung haveled to expanding geographic mobility within the city. The provision of a mass transit system, therefore, is vastly indispensable for anticipating high traffic densities. This study was trying toexamine whether the operational performance of trans-Bandar Lampung buses, or called “BusRapid Transit” (BRT), has conformed to the existing standards. The results are expected to betaken for consideration by the municipal government when adopting policies to improve BRT’soperational performance and to scale back traffic jams. The study focused only on one corridor, the Rajabasa-Sukaraja corridor, and used the World Bank(1986) standards as the reference. Observations were then made in three days: Monday andThursday to represent workdays, and Sunday to represent days off, with each observation dayspanning from 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.The results reveal that time headway, 6.29 minutes (on the Rajabasa-Sukaraja corridor), and tripspeed, 25.45 km/h, have met the World Bank’s standards. However, traveled distance, 112.36 kmper vehicle, and load factor, 20.53%, are below the given standards. This low load factor has led tosmall revenue per vehicle, i.e. only Rp346,503.56. Dividing the amount by the operating cost(operating ratio) per vehicle gives us a value of 0.7 (less than 1). In other words, the BRT systemhas been operating at a loss.In the final analysis, it is vital that the municipal government take strategic policies to reduce thenumber of minibuses, or angkot, that operates on the same corridor as the BRT buses’, so thatmore passengers will shift to these BRT buses. The government should also grant subsidiesimmediately to make up for the loss currently being suffered by this BRT.Keyword : BRT, trans-Bandar Lampung bus, Rajabasa, Sukaraja, time headway, load factor.
