Abstract

Maternal reproductive health is a critical factor in reducing Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). Data from Deli Tua Primary Health Center shows that K4 coverage reached only 78% with prenatal class participation at 40%, still below the national target. Low knowledge among pregnant women about reproductive health is one of the main causes. This Community Service Student Creativity Program (PKM-M) aims to improve reproductive health knowledge through innovative and interactive prenatal class improvement. The implementation method includes developing educational media (modules, posters, videos), conducting classes with participatory learning methods, and evaluation through pre-post tests. The program was conducted over 5 months targeting 30 pregnant women divided into 3 groups, each attending 6 sessions. Materials covered physiological changes during pregnancy, nutrition, reproductive hygiene, danger signs, childbirth preparation, and postpartum care. Results showed a knowledge score increase of 42.5% (from 58.3±12.4 to 83.1±8.7) with significance p<0.001. Participation reached 86.7% with satisfaction level of 4.3/5.0. The program proved effective in improving reproductive health knowledge and can be replicated in other primary health centers with local context adaptation.

Abstract

The landslide disaster that occurred in Tetumpun Village in June 2025 forced 45 families to take refuge. The evacuation conditions with limited access to clean water and sanitation posed high risks to reproductive organ hygiene problems among women. This community service activity aims to increase knowledge and skills of refugee mothers in maintaining reproductive organ hygiene. Implementation methods included reproductive health education, hygiene practice demonstrations, and distribution of hygiene kits. The activity was conducted for 1 day on July 15, 2025 and attended by 18 refugee mothers. Results showed an increase in participants' knowledge from an average of 52.78 (poor category) to 78.89 (good category) with an increase of 26.11 points (49.4%). All participants (100%) were able to practice proper reproductive organ cleaning methods after demonstration. Each participant received a hygiene kit containing sanitary pads, antiseptic soap, underwear, and other hygiene supplies. This activity successfully increased the capacity of refugee mothers in maintaining reproductive organ hygiene despite limited conditions.

Abstract

High-risk pregnancy is a condition that has the potential to cause illness or death for both the pregnant mother and the baby before delivery. The characteristics of high-risk pregnant women include being over the age of 35, which is considered unsafe because the reproductive organs begin to decline in function at that age. Other risk factors include a height of less than 145 cm, a weight of less than 45 kg, a pregnancy spacing of less than 2 years from the previous child, and having more than 4 children. The goal of this community service activity is to increase mothers' knowledge about high-risk pregnancy in hopes of reducing maternal and child mortality rates. The educational activity was conducted with 5 respondents, consisting of 1 pregnant woman and 4 mothers with toddlers, through health education delivered using leaflets as a health promotion tool. This activity involved planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting stages. The results showed that all participants were able to understand the material presented. The respondents gave positive feedback, enthusiastically asking questions and sharing the information on social media. In conclusion, education about high-risk pregnancy needs to be conducted repeatedly and in an engaging manner to be effective. Collaboration between healthcare professionals and parents, especially pregnant women and mothers with toddlers, is crucial in efforts to increase public knowledge.   Keywords: High-risk pregnancy, pregnant women, mothers with toddlers, health education.
