Abstract

The problem of understanding students' concepts on social sciences that are still established criteria became the background of this study. This was evidenced from the preliminary notes that 10% of students reach a minimum score of ≥ 75. This research used the Team Game Tournament type of cooperative learning, which is part of the type or model of cooperative learning that is very flexible to use to invite all students to activities without status support and include roles students `to make a tutor and in it is a game or game and reinforcement. Fun learning process activities can make students interested in this learning. This is due to the age of elementary school students whose nature still likes to play and tends to allow exciting learning. Learning must also be concrete in nature. It is easier for students to accept the material presented by the teacher during the research learning process which took place at SDN Cijengkol 01 for fourth-grade students of even semesters with 46 students. This research aimed to improve the learning ability of students and increasing activities in the learning process. Therefore, this learning model is needed. The type of research used was Classroom Action Research. The instruments used were test and observation sheets. This research was conducted in two cycles. The acquisition of the classical average value of the first cycle 64. The percentage of learning completeness is 30%. The second rank is the acquisition of an average value of 86 presentations of classical learning completeness as much as 91.34% of the research was declared successful because it has reached the predetermined standard of completeness. This learning model can improve learning abilities and improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

In social studies learning, the teacher had not optimized the environment around the school as a learning resource, which is expected to increase student motivation and learning outcomes. The purpose of this research were to: 1) describe the use of the school environment as a learning resource, and 2) design the use of the school environment as a learning resource in social science learning. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. The data in this study were the results of observations and interviews conducted at the time of the study. The research data collection technique used observations and interviews. Data were analysed using three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results showed that: 1) the activities of using the school environment as a learning resource for social studies learning in class V have been frequently carried out. 2) Learning activities that take advantage of the school environment must of course be carefully prepared since this learning activity had wide and open spaces and also different challenges during teaching in the classroom. The planning of the use of the school environment as a learning resource is made in the form of a fifth grade social science lesson plan using the theme 8 Our Friends Environment. Teacher is expected to optimize the environment around the school as a learning resource in social science learning since it is potentially to increase student motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Ideally, learning activities are carried out face-to-face, where the process of learning activities is carried out directly with a meeting between teachers and students in one place without going through any intermediaries. since the issuance of government policies that require the community to carry out all activities from home, face-to-face learning can no longer be done. The purpose of online learning is to make alternatives so that the learning process can continue as usual. This study aims to determine students' learning difficulties when studying online in social studies subjects in class V SDN Cigadung 5. The approach used in this study is qualitative. The method used in this research is the case study method. Data collection techniques in this study were through document analysis, interviews with school principals, class teachers, and parents of students, as well as questionnaires, addressed to 26 fifth grade students related to online learning difficulties in social studies subjects. The implementation of online learning, of course, creates obstacles during the learning process. Because online learning is a new thing, both students and teachers have previously been used to carrying out face-to-face learning. This can be seen from the results of the questionnaire recapitulation which has been filled out by 26 students. Students who answered correctly on the online learning difficulty questionnaire on social studies subjects were 794.7% while students who answered incorrectly were 1,220.7. This shows that more students answered incorrect statements in the questionnaire. So it can be concluded that SDN Cigadung 5, especially in class V, has difficulties when learning online in social studies subjects.

Abstract

Social studies are studied in elementary school. The main objective of social studies is to allow students to become knowledgeable, thinking, and involved citizens in the local and the world community. But in fact, shows that the learning result doesn’t meet the purpose. The primary basis for teaching social studies is depending on the literature as a single-source guide by teachers as a center has become common. This classic method makes students have difficulties in learning and understanding. Applying audio-visual media can help students to be successful in learning IPS, it affirmed by prior researchers. This study's purpose is to analyze: enhancing student achievement in social studies through audio-visual media in grade fourth of elementary school A systematic review represents the research process in qualitative studies. Data were collected from various articles of the researcher.  Milles and Huberman’s techniques are the main method used for data analysis. They divided the process of analysis into three phases, consisting of data reduction, data displays, and diagnosis. Based on the analysis of research data collection showed that audio-visual media usage improving students' achievement of social studies in a grade fourth elementary school. Studying social studies through audio-visual media has been proven to make students more creative, motivated, and easy to follow the teacher's explanations during learning activities

Abstract

Critical thinking skills for elementary school students are very important to face challenges in the era of globalization. This study aimed to determine: 1) critical thinking skills of elementary school students in social studies learning, 2) supporting and inhibiting factors that influence teachers in developing critical thinking of elementary school students in social studies learning, 3) what efforts can be made by teachers in developing students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning. This study used a qualitative approach with research techniques using literature studies. The occurrence of the Corona Virus 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak and the enactment of social and physical distancing became obstacles for researchers because they could not research directly into the field. The data used were secondary data obtained from books, articles, journals, previous research, as well as data that researchers obtain from the internet in accordance with the research problem being studied by the researcher. The results showed that: 1) students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning are still lacking, 2) 2013 curriculum is a supporting factor for teachers in developing critical thinking, and the inhibiting factor is the use of the lecture method which is continuously used without innovation, 3) efforts that can be made teachers to improve critical thinking in the classroom can use several methods, namely: cooperative learning methods are proven to improve students' critical thinking skills, including the TPS method (Think-Pair-Share), scientific approach, social inquiry, problem-based and or project-based learning, collaborative or cooperative and active-participatory methods, increasing interaction between students, asking open-ended questions or innovative questions that can trigger students' thinking skills.

Abstract

Learning cannot be separated from teacher teaching methods and models. This research was motivated by the use of learning models in social studies classes that are still not effective, therefore making the classroom environment less conducive. Learning activities, especially social studies, must be fun to contain historical value for students. For elementary school students, form a playful lesson model so that it is easy to understand and apply to life. The coveted model to achieve the goal of learning social studies is the Rank 1 game model. The objectives to be achieved in this study must be identified, analyzed and explained 1) how the implementation of the Ranking 1 game as a fifth-grade social studies learning model at the State Elementary School of Sajira 01, 2) improve student learning outcomes through the Ranking 1 Game as a fifth-grade social studies learning model in Elementary School. This research is qualitative research with classroom action research (CAR). The procedure in this study uses the theory developed by Kemmis and McTaggart. This study showed significant changes in student learning outcomes, indicated by increased student engagement with learning activities and increased academic performance, as evidenced by test scores. The average value obtained in the first cycle of learning outcomes was 83.7 and increased to 96.3 in the second cycle. Therefore, the researcher recommends the application of the Ranking 1 game model as an alternative that provides a more meaningful learning experience, especially when learning social studies subjects.

Abstract

Film can be utilized as a medium of learning in education. Within the film, numerous educational values can be learned by students, such as the value of patriotism. Within the film, numerous instructive values can be learned by understudies, such as the esteem of patriotism. The Tanah Surga Katanya film, which tells almost the lives of Indonesian citizens in border ranges, features a part of heroic values that emanate from the characters. The values of patriotism can be learned and imitated by fourth-grade rudimentary school understudies. This investigation was conducted to discover the values of patriotism contained in the Tanah Surga Katanya film. A qualitative approach and content analysis method were used in this research. Information in this study was collected by listening, observing, listening to dialogue, and doing fragments. At that point, the information was analyzed utilizing the steps of Miles and Huberman which are to show specific information lessening, information show, and drawing conclusions. Based on the analysis, the researchers found that there are 20 information discoveries within the Tanah Surga Katanya film which comprises 3 values of devotion, 4 values of mettle, 2 values of being willing to give up, 1 esteem of never giving up, and 10 values of adore for the nation. The results of this study can be utilized as social studies learning media regarding heroic attitudes for fourth-grade students.

Abstract

Character education of children is important in relation to children. This is very influential on the nation because it forms the nation's character from an early age. This is because children at this age are very important for character formation. Therefore, it is necessary to provide appropriate educational media that can shape the character of students for the better. The educational media uses educational television shows such as the films Nussa dan Rara. This study aims to determine the benefits contained in the film Nussa dan Rara and to find out how to grow character in second-grade elementary school children in teaching and learning activities through the delivery of the film. In this study, the researcher only took three episodes, namely Tolong dan Terima Kasih (Please and Thank You) episode, Berani Jujur (Dare to be Honest) episode, and Jangan Sombong (Don't Be Arrogant) episode. This type of research is qualitative using case study methods and using auxiliary instruments, namely interview sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. Then the results of this study are expected to contribute to character education and become input for students, teachers, other researchers, and any party in need.
