Abstract

The skill of writing expository essays can be used as a medium to improve the use of good and appropriate language for elementary school students. This study describes errors in using effective sentences in exposition essays in the fifth grade of Kebon Dalem State Elementary School, which consists of using effective sentence structures, Subject-Verb-Object-Adverb form (SPOK) conjunctions, and punctuation marks. This study used a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The subject of this research is the fifth grade of Kebon Dalem State Elementary School, with as many as seventeen students. The research instrument was used in the form of interviews and written documents in student expositions essays. The results showed that the student’s exposition essay writing was good because it was seen from the mistakes that students did not make. Disposition errors in the use of effective sentence as a whole: there are five higher errors in effective sentence structures, including SPOK, three higher errors in the use of conjunctions, and five higher errors in punctuation marks. The errors were assessed slightly because each student wrote three paragraphs and ten to twelve sentences. It shows that the types of mistakes in using effective sentences made by students in expository essays are still very diverse.

Abstract

Understanding the content of reading text in elementary school can be helped by determining the element of paragraph. This study aims to determine of fourth grades at SDN Semanan 04 Pagi in determining the paragraph elements in the reading text. This study uses a qualitative approach using a qualitative descriptive method. The research subjects in this study were 21 students in grade IV. The research instrument used was in the form of tests and interviews conducted on students. This study obtained analysis results which stated that students' ability to determine paragraph elements in reading texts was quite good because on average students were able to find 3-4 paragraph elements correctly. The students’ ability in finding main sentences, explanatory sentences, and affirmative sentences on tests 1, 2, and 3 showed a fairly good ability, while students’ abilities in determining transitions on tests 1, 2, and 3 showed poor abilities. The factors that cause students’ difficulties in determining the elements of paragraphs are lack of understanding of the material, lazy to study, lack of interest and motivation in student learning, no self-motivation to learn, and lack of practice in understanding the meaning of reading texts

Abstract

Penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tentang penggunaan metode bermain peran dalam mengembangkan keterampilan sosial anak usia dini. Artikel ini menggunakan metode studi literatur, data dikumpulkan melalui studi kepustakaan dari berbagai referensi seperti buku dan hasil penelitian terdahulu, kemudian data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Anak usia dini sedang berada dalam masa golden age dimana pada masa itu seluruh aspek pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya dapat tumbuh dan berkembang secara signifikan, di masa golden age perlu adanya pemberian stimulasi yang tepat sesuai dengan fase perkembangannya salah satunya pemberian stimulasi pada aspek sosial-emosional anak. Keterampilan sosial memiliki peran yang sangat besar di kehidupan anak karena keterampilan sosial yang baik yang dimiliki oleh anak akan mempermudah anak dalam berinteraksi dengan orang disekitarnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bermain peran dapat mengembangkan keterampilan sosial anak usia dini karena dalam bermain peran terjadi interaksi antara individu dengan individu maupun individu dengan kelompok dimana interaksi tersebut merupakan bagian dari keterampilan sosial dan kegiatan interaksi tersebut bisa dijadikan sebagai bekal diri anak untuk bersmasyarakat di kemudian hari.

Abstract

Mathematics teaching process in kindergarten must adapt to the pandemic situation which require learning from distance. This research develops an Android-based application for learning mathematical concepts, named EduGame Maru, consisting of five types of games: recognizing numbers, algebra, statistics, geometry, and probability. This research aimed to create an interactive, innovative, and practical application as a digital medium. The method used in this research was the RD model, with 4D development (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The EduGame Maru application received a validation result of "very feasible for use," with 3.36 points from media expert validators and 3.64 points from material expert validators, so the average was 3.50. Meanwhile, during the testing at Kindergarten Labschool, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Serang Campus, EduGame Maru application got 3.56 points from the teacher's assessment. In this case, the EduGame Maru application did not only train cognitive abilities but also help children to understand early mathematical concepts by applying the NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) principles. Therefore, it can be concluded that EduGame Maru can help teachers and parents optimize the cognitive aspects of children aged 4-6 years, especially early mathematical concepts during online learning.

Abstract

Along with the spread of COVID-19 where physical contact is limited, social interactions have shifted from offline to online, all forms of activity have become digitalized. The development of professionalism of educators is one of the fields that should not be hampered by physical or social restrictions. The educational process continues and requires educators to become more competent in their fields. So far, many studies, research, and literature discuss various things about what needs to be done to support the student learning process, however, publications that discuss teacher professional development are still minimal. A search of various teacher training models leads to a discussion of the peer coaching method, which is a professional development model that can be used to develop the teaching process. Peer coaching requires teachers to reflect on their teaching practices, share what works and useful suggestions, as well as learn from or with colleagues, both seniors and beginners, to establish collaborative and professional relationships to discuss various problems and challenges related to teaching. in the new normal era. This study exposed the result of conducting peer coaching models for professional development of teachers in new normal era and it’s further applicability based on benefits obtained by the teachers. Data was analyzed using qualitative inquiry, described descriptively and discussed based on the theory and experiences of both coach and coachee. According to the results of this study, peer coaching was found to be an prospective tool for professional development of teachers in K-6 Grade particularly in the new normal era, because it offers teachers with the opportunity to be involved in a small group of people, obtaining new skills for teaching practices, assures self-reflection, sharing experience, and mutual growth among members

Abstract

Cerita rakyat merupakan sarana hiburan dan pendidikan, dengan membaca atau mendengar cerita rakyat, anak dapat mempelajari karakter tokoh-tokoh dalam cerita. Cerita rakyat dapat membantu dalam proses pembentukan karakter anak, karena disana banyak terkandung pesan moral dan nilai-nilai luhur bangsa. Dengan membaca cerita rakyat, maka anak akan lebih mengenal dan mencintai budaya bangsanya sendiri. Namun orang tua atau guru, harus memilih cerita rakyat yang cocok dan cerita yang disampaikan harus sesuai dengan usia anak. Selain itu, Strategi pembelajaranpendidikan moral melalui pemahaman cerita rakyat dengan metode mendongeng, penuh dengan muatan moral tanpa menggurui.

Abstract

GCompris is an educational game with many choices of game categories that are suitable for early childhood. Introducing the GCompris educational game application as a form of learning activity at home so that children can continue to study comfortably and not easily get bored with parents of students at the State Kindergarten School of RA Kartini, Majasari District, Pandeglang Regency is the goal of the 2021 UPI Thematic community service program activity as a form of community service. The method used in this activity is to provide an introduction and socialization about the use of GCompris educational game learning media for children. This activity is intended because kindergarten students need learning media that are not boring while at home. The socialization of the introduction of this educational game was carried out from July to September 2021. The socialization was carried out offline at school and online through the WhatsApp group. The program targets in this activity are 10 parents of the State Kindergarten School of RA Kartini students. Through this activity, parents of students at the State Kindergarten School of RA Kartini can find out educational games that are useful for children as digital learning media and can be accessed easily at home. At the end of the program, parents feel the benefits from understanding the potential of the application and how to introduce to their children.

Abstract

Dihadapkan dengan perkembangan zaman yang sudah maju, guru dan orang tua perlu memanfaatkan teknologi sebagai media pengembangan karakter untuk anak usia dini salah satunya melalui film animasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konten serial animasi untuk dapat digunakan sebagai media pengembangan karakter cinta tanah air bagi anak usia dini. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi, studi dokumentasi dan wawancara. Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini bahwa unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik dalam serial animasi Diva mengandung konten karakter cinta tanah air sehingga berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai media pengembangan karakter cinta tanah air anak. Adapun fitur dan pemanfatan serial animasi Diva sebagai media pengembangan karakter cinta tanah air dapat dilihat melalui fungsi media pembelajaran yang diantaranya fungsi media sebagai sumber belajar, fungsi psikologis, serta fungsi semantik. Pemanfaatan teknologi seperti animasi sebagai media pengembangan karakter dapat menjadi alternatif media pengembangan karakter cinta tanah air untuk anak usia dini. Implikasi praktis dari hasil ini diharapkan menjadi dasar bagi guru dan orang tua memanfaatkan film animasi dengan muatan karakter dalam proses pembelajaran baik di sekolah dan di luar sekolah.

Abstract

Perkembangan sosial anak dapat dipengaruhi oleh kehadiran sosok ibu. Ibu memiliki peran terbesar dalam mendidik dan merawat anak-anaknya, dan kehadiran perempuan di pasar tenaga kerja bukan tanpa kendala, namun ketika perempuan menjadi ibu dan memiliki anak di bawah usia lima tahun, ibu tidak hanya diminta untuk menjadi pendidik anak atau pembantu rumah tangga. Tetapi juga dituntut untuk bekerja dengan baik dan bahkan berperan aktif dalam masyarakat. Kelemahan keterampilan sosial anak dapat menyebabkan kesulitan penyesuaian diri, sehingga perilakunya cenderung kurang normatif (antisosial). Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh ibu bekerja dengan perkembangan sosial anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik literature review dengan menelaah jurnal-jurnal yang relevan dengan penelitian penulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ibu yang bekerja memiliki pengaruh yang positif dan negatif terhadap perkembangan sosial anak usia dini.

Abstract

21st-century advances have influenced the education sector, so learning not only makes students excel but needs skills in dealing with the progress, the 4C skills. This research focuses on critical thinking and collaboration, and Indonesian is still considered one of the most important subjects. But the effort was still lacking. Students become passive, mingle less, and are not quite ready for progress. It is necessary to make efforts to use appropriate technology-based methods and media, using game-based learning with Oodlu. This research aims to know the use and the results of Oodlu's use in improving students' critical thinking and collaboration skills in Indonesian language learning. Using the CAR method of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, test and observation, 30 students of V State of Elementary School (SD Negeri) Pasirhuni as the subjects. The results showed that students' skills improve in each cycle. Cycle I critical thinking of group 1 and group 3 40%, group 2 80%, group 1 collaboration was lacking, group 2 and group 3 were good. Cycle II critical thinking group 1 60%, group 2 80%, group 3 40%, collaboration group 1 was good, group 2 and group 3 were very good. Cycle III critical thinking of Group 1 and Group 3 80%, group 2 90%, the collaboration of Group 1 to Group 3 was very good. Thus the use of Oodlu in game-based learning can improve students' critical thinking and collaboration skills. This research implied that the Oodlu with GBL could be solutive to improving other relevant essential skills. Keywords: Improving Critical Thinking, Collaboration Skills, Oodlu
