Abstract

Program pengabdian yang berupa pendampingan bagi si anak-anak dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dilakukan bertujuan untuk membantu para siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris selama belajar dari rumah selama pandemic Covid-19. Pendampingan ini dilakukan melihat kesulitan-kesulitan para siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dan kesulitan orang tua dalam membimbing belajar bahasa Inggris, sehingga hal tersebut menurunkan minat belajar dan kemampuan para siswa dalam Bahasa Inggris. Karena masalah tersebut program pengabdian ini disambut dengan baik diantara orang tua yang tinggal di Perum Griya Nyansa Lestari, terdapat 6 siswa yang tergabung dalam program pengabdian ini, jumlah peserta anak-anak dalam program ini dibatasi dikarenakan protocol covid-19 yang membatasi jumlah peserta. Para anak-anak yang terlibat dalam program pengabdian terlihat antusias dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dalam program ini, hal tersebut bisa dilihat dari kehadiran mereka selama pembelajaran. Program ini akan berlanjut selama para siswa membutuhkan selama masa belajar dirumah. Kata kunci: Pengabdian, pendampingan, minat belajar, bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Literasi merupakan salah satu kegiatan yang akhir-akhir ini menjadi pioritas dan menjadi agenda besar dari pemerintah yang wajib dikembangkan dan di implementasikan dalam setiap kegiatan siswa disekolah ataupun masyarakat. literasi memiliki makna awal yaitu ‘kemampuan membaca dan menulis’ yang kemudian berkembang menjadi ‘kemampuan menguasai pengetahuan bidang tertentu’. Literasi di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah hingga saat ini. Kegiatan literasi dipengaruhi beberapa faktor yaitu kecakapan, akses, alternatif dan budaya. Kemampuan literasi akan sangat memengaruhi penalaran dan kompetensi lainnya. Sehingga peserta didik perlu memiliki kecintaan pada aktivitas pengembangan literasi sejak dini. Peran guru dan orang tua sangat diperlukan untuk kembali memotivasi dan membangkitkan semangat berliterasi khususnya untuk anak-anak dijenjang sekolah dasar sebagai pondasi untuk lebih melek literasi, tidak hanya sekedar membaca dan menulis tapi bagaimana peserta didik dapat memahami ilmu pengetahuan yang didapatkan dari buku bacaan dan juga keadaan pengalamannya di dunia nyata. Dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang bertembat di Desa Kramatmulya, Kabupatenb Kuningan peranan orang tua selaku masyarakat menjadi lebih optimal dalam membantu pengembangan budaya literasi di lingkungan masyarakat (rumah). Gerakan Literasi Masyarakat ini merupakan  kegiatan yang bersifat partisipatif dengan melibatkan warga masyarakat (peserta didik, orang tua dan perangkat Desa), akademisi yang dapat merepresentasikan keteladanan, dll.), Salah satunya telah mewujudkan Rumah Literasi masyarakat sebagai organisasi pembelajaran yang warganya literat sepanjang hayat adalah pembiasaan membaca peserta didik. Program ini membantu para orang tua siswa yang kesulitan dalam mendampingi putra-putri mereka dalam pembelajaran dan anak-anak lebih termotivasi dalam menumbuhkan budaya membaca dan menulis serta membantu meringankan beban para orang tua dalam mendampingi anak-anak mereka dalam belajar.

Abstract

This paper presents research findings on the benefits and barriers of E-learning in the study of English among EFL learners. The topic of this research was students from Department of English Education, Universitas Kuningan, and it was carried out using a qualitative design. An observation checklist and an interview were used to collect data. The study's findings revealed that using E-learning to study English has several benefits, including the flexibility of time and place, easy access to a wealth of information, the ability to facilitate relationships between learners through the use of discussion forums, and the ability to learn at one's own pace. And E-learning also has a numerous barriers in studying English such as, the lack of internet access/WIFI, a software barrier, learners are not enough excited to study English using E-learning, socially disconnected, weak levels of student engagement and students are illiterate and uneducated in the use of modern technologies. Therefore, it could be concluded that the use of E-learning in studying English at Department of English Education, Universitas Kuningan is not effective.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to ascertain the impact of metacognitive methods on students' reading comprehension as well as the attitudes of students about their usage. According to (Navarro, 2021), metacognition is the awareness of and control over one's own thinking and learning processes. Quantitative research is carried out using an experimental research design. Tests and questionnaires were employed by researchers as data collection tools. In this research, two classes—X.6 (Control Class) and X.7 (Experimental Class)—were chosen using cluster random sampling. According to the findings, the experimental group's average post-test score was 83.29, whereas the control group's was 78.57. The independent sample t-test was shown to have a lower (two-tailed) significance of 0.010 (0.010 0.05). Then, in the control class, 0.010 (0.010 0.05) is shown. As a result, Ho is considered unacceptable but Ha is welcomed. Conclusion: Students' reading comprehension is impacted by metacognitive tactics used in reading instruction.In addition, the researcher also got the results from the questionnaire data, the majority of experimental class students agreed and strongly agreed on the three items given on the affective, behavioral and cognitive aspects. It can be assumed that most of the experimental class students were influenced by Metacognitive Strategies in improving reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research sought to investigate the contribution of language learning strategies in the poem writing of an autistic student attending a special need school in Kuningan. This study used qualitative case, case study methods to analyze the cases in detail. To assess the data’s naturalness, observations and interviews were used to gather the data. And to investigate the difficulties faced by autistic students writing poems. The research was done at a special school in Kuningan and included one student with autism among seven other students. Results indicated that autistic students utilized motivation in social-emotional strategies. It was also noted that students with autism found vocabulary, tenses, and rhymes to be a challenge in writing poems. But she also learned how to overcome vocabulary by using cognitive translation strategies to acquire new vocabulary she didn't know, and using tenses by asking questions about it using social-emotional clarification strategies.
