Abstract

This study re-examines the effect of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), portfolio investment, exchange rates, and inflation on the Current Account Balance (CAB), with the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) as a moderating variable for the 1995–2022 period in ASEAN-6. Hypothesis testing using MRA and panel data regression. This study took secondary data from The World Bank and Transparency International (TI). It used 168 samples obtained from six ASEAN countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The results showed that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) had a significant negative effect on Current Account Balance (CAB), portfolio investment had a significant positive effect on Current Account Balance (CAB), and exchange rates and inflation had no effect on Current Account Balance (CAB). In addition, the moderating variable used, namely the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), is proven to be able to moderate the four independent variables with a significant negative effect. This research is limited to ASEAN-6 countries and only uses CPI as a moderating variable. Suggestions for further research should be replicated outside ASEAN-6 and consider other variables.

Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is one of the external capital flows that has many benefits for the host country in closing the savings and investment gap. The purpose of this study is to examine and explain the factors that affect the inflow of foreign capital to ASEAN countries from 2013-2022 through a fixed effect model approach. This study found that economic growth, open trade, and total domestic credit have a significant positive effect while institutional quality has a significant negative effect on FDI inflows in ASEAN countries. The findings of this study provide implications that can be taken into consideration for government agencies to make policies that are on the conditions of each country to attract investors to invest in ASEAN countries, especially in maintaining the country's economic growth rate, ease of access to global trade and finance followed by improvements in terms of bureaucratic reform of institutional quality.

Abstract

Explicitly, cash waqf does not have specific arguments about its permissibility in the Qur'an or the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In Indonesia, the permissibility of cash waqf is determined based on the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) dated May 11, 2002. This study aims to review the arguments of the Koran and hadith which form the basis of the MUI fatwa. In examining the meaning of the verses and hadiths, the method of thematic interpretation of terms and fiqh al-hadith is carried out. This study found that, 1) the verse used as the basis for the fatwa is QS. Ali Imran [3]: 92 and (QS. al-Baqarah [2]: 261-262, 2) the traditions used as the basis for the fatwa are those narrated by Ibn Umar and recorded by al-Bukhari, Muslim, al-Tirmidhi, and al-Nasa'I, 3) the arguments of the Qur'an and hadith that are used, although they do not explicitly state about cash waqf, the meaning obtained can explain that cash waqf is a form of waqf that is very possible to implement

Abstract

Abstract

In the era of increasingly rapid digitalization, the application of information technology has become an urgent need for various sectors, including the economic and business sectors. However, technology acceptance is not always easy because there are various factors that influence adoption by users. To understand these factors, a theoretical approach is needed that can effectively predict technology acceptance. One model that is often used for this purpose is the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which focuses on how perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use affect user intentions to accept new technology. Based on this background, this study aims to identify and analyze the impact of the exchange rate on Indonesian exports. The data used in this study are monthly exchange rate and export data from January 2017 to December 2021. The stationarity test uses the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) method and differentiation is used to ensure stationary data. The optimal delay length is determined based on the Akaike information criterion (AIC). The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) is estimated after determining the optimal delay length. Granger causality test is used to determine the reciprocal influence between variables, while impulse response function (IRF) is used to track the impact of variable shocks. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant relationship between exchange rates affecting exports, while exports do not affect the exchange rate.
