Abstract

PT. Teluk Lamong Terminal is a subsidiary of Pelindo III. Terminal operator that prioritizes services with high-tech facilities with the concept of “The first green port in Indonesia. The role and steps taken by BUP PT. Teluk Lamong Terminal in realizing a green port includes: (a) Improving the quality of cleanliness, port environment, (b) Improving service facilities, security, order and public safety. (c) Increasing institutional capacity and human resources for environmental management in the port area. (d) Implementing Regulations and Technical Guidelines that support the management of the port environment for the realization of legal certainty. (e) Increasing the active role of stakeholders in realizing environmentally friendly ports. The role of BUP PT. Teluk Lamong Terminal in implementing Smart Port includes: The implementation of the interconnection of the entire port logistics chain includes (a) an intelligent information system consisting of ; (b) data center (c) cyber security.

Abstract

A reliable data communication network is essential in supporting Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) operations, especially in managing vessel traffic in the Class I Navigation District of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya. However, challenges such as network reliability, bandwidth capacity, and potential interference are still obstacles in ensuring efficient operations. This research aims to analyze the condition of the data communication network at the Tanjung Perak Class I Navigation District VTS, focusing on the technology used, its performance, and the obstacles faced. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through direct observation, interviews with VTS operators, and analysis of related documents. The results show that the communication network at VTS uses Very High Frequency (VHF) frequency-based radio communication technology to support operations, such as digital maps of ship traffic and Automatic Identification System (AIS) systems. In conclusion, the data communication network at the Tanjung Perak Class I Navigation District VTS has met basic operational needs, but still requires further development in terms of technology and infrastructure to improve its efficiency and reliability. This research provides recommendations for the integration of advanced technology, infrastructure improvement, and human resource training to optimize the performance of the communication network.

Abstract

Approximately 2.89% of the world’s carbon footprint can be attributed to the shipping sector. To mitigate this impact, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) established the MARPOL Annex VI regulations, which impose stringent limits on sulfur oxides (SO_x), nitrogen oxides (NO_x), and carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions. As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia faces unique strategic and operational challenges in achieving regulatory compliance. This study evaluates the implementation of MARPOL Annex VI at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, utilizing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis framework. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating qualitative insights with quantitative data derived from stakeholder questionnaires. The analysis identifies key internal and external factors influencing the adoption of green shipping practices. Findings indicate that Indonesia’s transition requires a tripartite strategy: robust regulatory frameworks, technological innovation, and human capital development. Key recommendations include strengthening the enforcement of monitoring systems—specifically Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)—and introducing economic instruments such as an Emissions Trading System (ETS). Furthermore, the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and alternative marine fuels is critical. This research aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7, 9, 13, and 14, providing a roadmap to enhance the maritime industry's competitiveness while contributing to global decarbonization targets.

Abstract

Pengisian botol angin pada kapal merupakan proses vital untuk mendukung sistem air starting mesin utama dan bantu. Namun, pada kapal MV. HL Dalrymple Bay ditemukan indikasi penurunan kinerja kompresor, khususnya saat manuver, ditandai dengan lamanya waktu pengisian dan tekanan udara yang tidak mencapai standar. Permasalahan ini berisiko mengganggu operasional kapal secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada faktor yang menyebabkan turunnya kinerja kompresor pada proses pengisian botol angin, dan apa dampak dari penurunan kinerja tersebut terhadap efisiensi dan keselamatan operasional kapal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung selama praktik laut selama 12 bulan, serta dokumentasi teknis lapangan. Data dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi gejala, akar permasalahan, serta solusi teknis yang relevan. Ditemukan bahwa penyebab utama turunnya performa kompresor adalah sistem pelumasan yang tidak optimal, kebocoran pada cylinder head, serta keausan pada piston dan ring piston. Dampaknya adalah waktu pengisian botol angin menjadi lebih lama dari standar, serta munculnya potensi gangguan pada manuver kapal. Rekomendasi meliputi pelaksanaan perawatan berkala, penggantian komponen aus, serta peningkatan keterampilan kru melalui pelatihan teknis.   Filling the air bottle on the ship is a vital process to support the main and auxiliary engine air starting system. However, on the MV. HL Dalrymple Bay was found to indicate a decrease in compressor performance, particularly during maneuvering, characterized by long charging times and air pressure that did not reach the standard. This problem risks disrupting the overall operation of the ship. This study focuses on the factors that cause the decline in compressor performance in the process of filling air bottles, and what is the impact of this decrease in performance on the efficiency and operational safety of the ship. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through direct observation during marine practice for 12 months, as well as technical field documentation. The data is analyzed to identify symptoms, root causes, and relevant technical solutions. It was found that the main causes of the decline in compressor performance were suboptimal lubrication systems, leaks in the cylinder head, and wear on the pistons and piston rings. The impact is that the time to fill the air bottle becomes longer than standard, as well as the appearance of potential interference with the ship's maneuvers. Recommendations include the implementation of periodic maintenance, replacement of worn components, and improvement of crew skills through technical training
