Abstract

There are numerous external costs associated with logistics that can potentially have an indirect influence on businesses or society as a whole. The purpose of this research paper is to provide an overview of the external costs related to the health of truck drivers and how it can potentially have a detrimental effect on supply chains. Truck drivers are vital contributors to the logistics and transportation sector and their role has a significant impact on the global economy. However, the demanding nature of their profession often leads them to neglect their own well-being and health, which in turn can have negative consequences for the drivers themselves, their companies, and the overall supply chains. This is a crucial issue that has unfortunately been largely overlooked in the existing literature on logistics and transportation. The objective of this paper is to identify the matter and propose a solution which involves monitoring the stress and fatigue levels of truck drivers in real-time using wearable device sensors and the Internet of Things. The aim is to create awareness within the logistics community and to encourage future research that can help mitigate the issues that may arise due to the presence of unhealthy truck drivers.

Abstract

One of the awareness that has arisen in Indonesia in response to the challenges of Industry 4.0 is the awareness to be able to meet domestic logistics needs through improving and strengthening the national logistics system. This is mandated through the Center of Excellence, where Logistics is one of the areas of expertise included as a target for the Indonesian government. The socialization and demands of Industry and the World of Work (IDUKA) continue to develop and change so the Vocational High School (SMK)'s ability to fulfill them needs to be improved. The purpose of this research is to compile SMK E-modules that need to be aligned with the needs of IDUKA, especially in the field of logistics. This study used a mixed methods approach by conducting interviews (qualitative) and using questionnaires (quantitative) and studies using secondary data in the form of the SMK Logistics curriculum. The output of this research is in the form of the results of graduate training needed by IDUKA in the form of scientific articles published in indexed international journals for the dissemination of results at international scientific seminars, IPRs, and E-modules.

Abstract

PT.

Abstract

Order picking is a crucial process in warehouse management, where efficiency in retrieving items significantly impacts operational smoothness and the company's ability to meet product demand on time. PT ABC is a garment company that faces issues with order-picking activities in the fabric material warehouse. The material search process, which takes up to 70 minutes, is caused by an inefficient random storage system. This study aims to optimize material storage using the dedicated storage method and simulation with Arena software. With this approach, storage allocation based on buyers is implemented to improve the efficiency of material retrieval time. The simulation results indicate a reduction in material search time to 41.86 minutes, improving efficiency by 40.2%. The dedicated storage method has proven effective in enhancing warehouse operational efficiency, enabling the company to reduce material search time.

Abstract

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a critical element for industries operating in highly competitive environments. Among its most pressing challenges are inventory disruptions caused by back orders and lost sales, which not only raise operational costs but also undermine customer satisfaction and corporate reputation. This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) examining inventory policies and mitigation strategies related to back orders and lost sales. A total of 35 peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2024 were selected from major databases such as SCOPUS, ScienceDirect, and IEEE. The review identifies four major mitigation strategies: maintaining adequate safety stock, implementing multi-echelon inventory systems, applying multi-sourcing approaches, and optimizing inventory rationing policies. Multi-echelon systems are shown to be effective in distributing inventory across different levels of the supply chain, reducing the frequency and cost of back orders. Multi-sourcing, meanwhile, enhances supply flexibility by relying on multiple vendors to prevent disruptions. Additionally, inventory rationing policies—such as continuous and periodic review systems—play a key role in determining replenishment strategies that balance service levels and cost. The findings suggest that combining these strategies significantly improves inventory resilience and performance. This review also highlights research gaps in lost sales modeling, especially in multi-echelon environments, and calls for more empirical studies to validate proposed frameworks.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore the correlation between infrastructure development and LPI. Research Design and Methodology: A systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis were employed in this study, with a total of 82 pieces of literature relevant to the topic under discussion. Network and DAG visualizations were also created, each designed to map research topics and illustrate the causal relationships between the two subjects. Findings and Discussion: The results of this study confirm a significant relationship between infrastructure and LPI, with trade sector acting as a mediating factor. The results also show that ports and roads are infrastructure that should not be overlooked. Good governance and government are essential. Implications: In practice, policymakers should not ignore the impact of infrastructure development, especially on ports and roads. The development of communication networks (both internal and external channels) is recommended to improve government governance in managing infrastructure.
